Description of Workouts

Do you like to follow a routine in your workout activities? Have you ever walked into the gym and forgot what workout you're on that day? This app is for you. The primary focus of the Workouts• app is to track your routine. Next primary focus will be trends. ——— Do you have a workout routine you like to follow? - Add your workout routines with activities. - Assign workout routine activities to workout sessions. Do you like to balance your workout types (e.g. strength training vs cardio)? - Assign workout category to workout sessions. - Workout categories can be automatically assigned to workout sessions based on the workout session activity type (built-in workout) or by the workout routine activity (this app). Do you like to add notes to your workout sessions? - Add notes to workout sessions. - Add an emoji reaction to workout sessions. - Add tags to workout sessions (which will later be used for filtering and trends). ——— PLANNED FEATURES: - Workout Trends — This will be a major update with a lot of information to assist with your workout progression. - Filtering workouts list. - Add photos to workout sessions. - Use of your own images for routines and activities. For now, either an emoji or SF Symbol (by name) is supported. (For more information about SF Symbols, see https://developer.apple.com/sf-symbols/. Relevant symbols start with a "figure" prefix.) ——— DEFINITIONS: - Workout Session: A built-in (Apple HealthKit) record in the iOS ecosystem created by various apps, for instance Apple Watch or 3rd party apps. The Workouts• app reads these records and provides ability to linked data to them. - Workout Routine: A plan that consists of a series of activities. These activities are performed in a single workout. They are performed sequentially and then repeated. - Workout Activity: An individual workout, performed on its own day, focused on a muscle group (e.g. arms, shoulders, lower-body) or general activity (e.g. running, core, full-body). - Workout Category: There is a collective understanding amongst health institutions that there are four primary types of exercises: endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. The Workouts• app builds on this concept while adding three additional types: core, mindfulness and sports, as well as renaming endurance to aerobic and flexibility to stretching. Being aware of workout categories will help you balance your activities. (With the planned Workout Trends feature, categories will be more relevant in the app.)
