  • Sitting on my deck, and Lake Huron.

Love being able to identify the ships only improvement could be listing when the ship was built and types of cargo it normally hauls.
The app works great never had an issue.
  • Simple and efficient

    All a non professional needs
  • Better than the others

Was trying to find boats before they get where they’re going. This app is pretty easy to use.
  • Surprise extras

I purchased this app because it had NOAA charts. Now the developer wants additional money for the chart feature. I’m unwilling to invest more in an app that changes the terms after I’ve made the purchase.

    Hi,

The BoatWatch app description clearly states that the NOAA charts are an extra and require an In App Purchase. We are sorry you did not notice this.

    Best regards

    PocketMariner Crew,

Although it took you four months to reply to my review, you apparently didn’t understand the comment, or you chose to gaslight me. I stand by my statement. NOAA charts were included with the version I installed and used for years, now I can’t access these chart underlays without paying an additional fee. I very much notice that you now charge extra for this, but you did not when I first installed the app.

  • Poor tracking

The app keeps telling me that ship is out of range. Meanwhile it’s docked in a covered location. The app seems to be a day behind so that cruise ships are always located at the port it was yesterday. I’m sorry that I upgraded the app for 5.00. What a terrible was of money.

Hi, Sorry you are having problems tracking a ship. This doesn't sound right. Can you please email us at help@pocketmariner.com so we can help you. All the best the PocketMariner Crew
  • Not what I expected

Although being able to see where ships are, it’s sad that you pay for the “one time upgrade” and then find that everything else within the app costs an additional charge. So they mislead you to believe that once you’ve upgraded, you won’t be charged again……. False. False false. Don’t waste your money on this.

Hi Sorry to hear this. The one time upgrade refers to the upgrade to the Pro version to get more ship details including last port, photos, destination, eta etc. which is a one time purchase as opposed to a subscription. This also includes the features on the free companion Apple Watch BoatWatch app. There are additional features available via In App Purchase such as NOAA US and UK/IE charts which cost us more to provide and we charge for these separately as not everyone will want them. • Useless

I downloaded this to watch my sons cruise ship. I paid the extra $5 and all that did was allow me to save his boat. I was able to use the app for one day before the boat went out of range and could not be tracked anymore! Very stupid app

Hi Real time AIS coverage of ship positions is provided by a network of shore based AIS aerials. When ships travel over the horizon into the ocean the signal is lost until they get close to land again. You can set an alert in BoatWatch to be notified when a ship you are interested in reaches a destination or leaves a port. Best regards The PocketMariner crew
  • Boat Watch is the best!

I’ve tried a few different app but I like the features and reliability of Boat Watch most.

Thank you very much for your kind review. Fair Winds The PocketMariner crew
  • Can’t find ships location.

I can’t never find the cruise ship position. Hasn’t updated in 3 days. Had to use different app. Payed the one time charge to get the best out of the app for nothing. Have had better results on other apps and free of charge.
