  • A company that cares

A fine app from a company that cares. I switched from Headspace because of their expensive monthly fee versus an easy onetime cost for Buddhify. This latest version has so much in it and makes meditation on the go easy and convenient. The developers respond to reviews, take comments into consideration when updating, and really care about creating value from the app. You can read some of the background and history of the company within the app. I’m pleased to support this app and glad to recommend it to others.

  • Bring back the old app

The previous version of the app was great. I used to use it before bed every night. It was a very basic app - but that’s all it needed to be. The meditations were engaging and practical.

Unfortunately now I can rarely get into the app. I’ve downloaded, deleted and downloaded again but the loading or inability to open the app has become too much. You can see by the reviews here that started at 5 stars have now dipped down to 1, that it is a real issue.

I’ve recommended this app to many people in the past - but I’m afraid I can’t recommend it anymore :(

  • Fantastic app

I’ve been using Buddy to help me through my mindfulness journey for more than a year now. In its current version the app has a multitude of meditations to suit your needs and I quite admire the ability to be able to choose mediations as opposed to following a strict order and a regime to allow one to progress. The fact there is no recurring subscription fee is very much appreciated as I personally find the idea of a subscription rather off putting. I love the variety of meditations with different voices and also the option of using a meditation timer for unguided meditations. It would have been useful to have the option of playing some soothing music in the background whilst listening to the meditations, which the developers may wish to consider for the next update. I really love using this app on a daily basis. Thank you Buddhify team !

Thank you for your kind words and we're delighted the app has been of such use. The reason we don't have music in the background is that one of our core principles is encouraging people to engage with the environment around them and so don't want to add anything to that. Hope that makes sense and be well! / Rohan
  • Excellent.

I love this app. After trying others, and being hesitant to sign up for any kind of subscription model, I did some research and stumbled upon buddhify. I’ve meditated so much more often than I ever have with this app, due in part to the customizable wheel of topics. I love being able to go straight to something that speaks to me in the moment. There’s a real sense of connection with the team behind all the meditations and the app development, and I generally feel as though Rohan et al are speaking directly to me on a personal level. All in all, I highly recommend this to anyone looking to dip their toe into the vast ocean of mindfulness apps.

  • The best practical meditation app

... and possibly just the best meditation app, period. If you’re like me and find yourself put off by New Age-flavored 30-minute long meditation sessions and just want to start learning techniques for enjoying the evidence-based benefits of meditation, this may be the app for you.

It’s a practical approach to squeezing in a few minutes of meditative thought that doesn’t require sitting in the lotus position or intense concentration to feel accomplished. The app encourages very casual use—most meditations are around 5-10 minutes long, and can be done sitting, commuting, eating, bathing, with friends, and more. If you’re going through a difficult period or have mental health disorders, this app can help too. I have anxiety and am going through a period of major upheaval in my life, and this app has become an important part of coping.

My favorite time to use it is at bedtime (very good at helping me relax and fall asleep) and waking up, but I’ve also dipped in during lunch breaks at work and while just around the apartment.

I would say my one nitpick with it is a few of the meditations could be slightly better structured or written (ie: pauses that are too long or too short or misplaced), but there’s so many options that I can’t ding it for the imperfect. And even with that quibble, there’s nothing shoddy or poorly done about any of them.

This is a wonderfully practical meditation app for modern use. I can’t recommend it enough.

  • Good app but difficult to use when offline

I used he earlier version of this app and generally like the features of this update. However, one major problem I have with the app is that it won’t work if I’m offline. I frequently take trains or fly, where there’s no Wi-fi or phone connectivity, and this app simply won’t work. Another problem I’ve encountered is that you can’t use the app when it starts to automatically download new meditations.

For the developers: Is there away to modify or design that app so that it’s useable with no network connection? Also - can his app be designed so that existing meditations in the library can be used while it’s downloading new ones?

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the issues you've described about the app updating and downloading tracks each time it opens is a bug with the current update. We are working on resolving this and a new update will be available soon. Thank you for your patience. // Lucy
  • Used to love this app but now it won’t load

Was so pleased when I found this app and have used it off and on, particularly when I found it difficult to sleep. Which brings me to why I am leaving a review and 23:15; I can’t sleep and my trusted Buddify app does not load since the new updates. This is about the third day I’ve tried to use it with the same result. The apps starts hopefully but then gets stuck on the wheel rotating and I am told to login to edit the wheel - but given no means of doing so. I hope I’ve missed something obvious but I really can’t see what that could be. Very frustrating. This is a wonderful app, guys, and looking forward to you sorting this issue out so I can enjoy the peace it brings me once again.

Thank you for your feedback and our apologies with the issue with the current update (4.0.1). We are working on a new update to resolve this issue that the app isn't loading for some people. To create an account pull up the menu bar (blue at the bottom of the screen). Secondly open Settings, where the first option on the page should be Register an account / Log in. Scroll down and click Register, you can then create an account. // Lucy
  • Great app shame about some of the voices

I'm in the UK and while I love the layout of the app the majority of the app features a few US lady guides which I don't find restful at all and rather distracting. Nothing against Ameticans: Jack Cornfield and Adyashanti have very soothing voices. One who does the scan in the "stress" section sounds like she is about to burst into tears and the other sounds like she is more at home on Venice Beach. There are US and British male voices that are very restful but they feature far too infrequently. It may seem nitpicking but in guided meditation timbre and pace is so important in soothing a person and getting them centred. Sadly I find a lot of the voices so itritating I can only use a fraction of the meditations.

Thank you for your feedback about the voices. In the new version of the app we've increased the number of voices, so we now have 13 voices across the app. Some of the tracks had to be re-recorded to improve sound quality in this release of the app, and we also wanted to add a greater diversity of voices. If you want to get in touch on support@buddhify.com we'd be very happy to help suggest some voices that might appeal. // Lucy
  • Too small

The latest version has the wheel so tiny I can’t read the writing to actually access the meditations. Not sure if it’s a settings problem but you can’t change settings without an account and it keeps telling me to try again later so I can’t create an account. In its current state I can’t really use this app.

  • Success!

I have been intrigued by meditation for many years but never felt like I could do it consistently. The ideas and techniques were either too ethereal or unattainable. I just didn’t understand how to practice.
Buddhify gives practical advice and real world situations which allowed me to learn meditation and practice without the pressure. I love this app and had all of my kids install it for those nights when they are finding it hard to disengage the brain and rest. Take it from someone who has tried many other books, apps, lectures, etc on meditation, this is the best and least intimidating how-to.
