  • Can we get an update?

I love this app and use it almost every day. But it’s over four years old and not optimized for any of the newer phones from the last three years. It still runs in letterboxed format on any phone from the iPhone 10 or later. Can we get an update?

    Developer Response

Hi, Please use Logeion problem reports to request a sneak preview of the update.
  • Great app, but

It's an awesome app, but it would be great if it had updated.

    Developer Response

Update now out! Thank you for your patience.. please report problems via logeion.uchicago.edu so we become aware of them earlier.
  • Great app for Greek interpretation

I find this app great for writing essays on style and interpretation as it gives so many examples and meanings from different sources, however I would love an update allowing for a full sized keyboard on iPhone X and newer and also a dark mode if possible

    Developer Response

Update is out, finally! Thank you for your patience.
  • Life-changing

As an alphabetically challenged Latin and Greek nerd, I use this app every day. I can’t believe it’s free and has no ads! So much faster than looking things up in a paper dictionary, and I absolutely love all the examples from different texts.

The only problem is that it’s very easy to click by accident on the wrong word from the suggestions list, and end up in an entry about a bizarre word that shows up once in extant literature when you just wanted to see if amo has a long or short a.

  • No iPhone X support

Please support the iPhone X screen!
  • Classics to go.

Although it can be a little difficult to navigate at times because of the huge volume of data it contains, Logeion is an excellent resource. It loads quickly (iPhone 8), runs reliably, and has a full database of Latin and Ancient Greek, including the invaluable DMLBS (Mediæval Latin). I still prefer a bound-and-printed dictionary, but Logeion is nevertheless an invaluable resource for classicists, philologists, philosophers, priests, anyone who encounters Latin and Greek with moderate frequency. Even better, it doesn’t need an internet connexion to run!

  • Shout out to Mr. Fab who told us about the app!

    Wink wink
  • Absolutely Indispensable

This app collects various dictionaries that, in the "analogue" world, would require me to have a pack animal accompany me if I wanted to walk around with them. The ease of use and convenience are unparalleled. Just be careful in class, lest it look like you're texting rather than figuring out the exact valence of a verb in the middle!

  • Makes no sense

Layout is lazily made, everything is abbreviated and instead of the actual app being any use they lead you to a website. Extremely limited for simple words and almost impossible to use

    Developer Response

hi, we are always grateful for feedback, but it seems your expectations of what this app might do and what we intend it to do are different things. If you are interested in learning more, please read the About page, or let us know through a problem report what exactly the problems are that you are having. One important point: the Logeion iOS app gives access to dictionary entries, so words must be looked up in the dictionary citation form. For example, vir, not virum, viro, viri, etc. The website does allow lookup of inflected words, but that would make the app three times as big again.
  • Key resource for all Classics students
