  • Google Play - d/l movies from Google

OK, I just went to the APP STORE on my iPad Air2 and got Google Play. I already got a Free copy of 'Bunyan & Babe' through a deal on Google last week. I started up Google Play and DOWNLOADED my copy of 'Bunyan & Babe' from my area of Google Store. Now, I don't know anything about streaming movies through Google, but my d/l movie played flawlessly using Google Play. Bright, clear High-definition movie that played beautifully on Google Play. Now remember, I did not stream any movies, but played a movie on my iPad Air2. Thank you Google! Thank you very much for a great entertainment APP.

Some of you guys don't understand this App and the sum who do want to be able to buy movies from in the App itself.
    I'll try to explain:
First for the people who say the can only put movies on wish list but not buy it's because you buy from the google site.
For people who want them to add an in App purchase it will only make everything more expensive because Apple will want their share, so it's a little bit more of a hassle but cheaper.
I hope that this explains the confusion.

  • Extremely slow and buggy

It is obvious the Google developers don't actually use this app. I have quite a few movies and TV shows and the app is soooooo slow when it updates/refreshes that the app becomes unresponsive. When it is downloading new shows or updating images nothing works. The app doesn't track the last episode watched or where you left off. There is no where to hide shows from showing up that I may not want cluttering the UI. The downloaded episodes didn't show all the episodes I downloaded. If you have purchased a lot of visual media from Google it is a horrible experience. I'm thinking about leaving the Google platform for someone else that puts effort and testing into their app.

  • What is this app for?

I'd love to use this app in the same way I use other TV and movie service apps, but it doesn't seem to be for that. You get a 'recommended' list of 20 movies to watch trailers of and add to a wish-list (and then within each one you can get to other similar titles) but that's your lot. No way to properly browse other movies outside of those 20, and no way to purchase any movies to watch right now. You can watch media that you've already purchased via the website itself, but it's a bit of a cop-out to not provide access to the rest of the library of movies available. You can just use your iPad's browser to get to the Google Play store instead, but of course that makes the app pretty redundant.

  • Google Play Movies

Movies are cheaper on Google Play to buy or rent. You simply have to go to their mobile version on the web and purchase your movie and return to the app to either watch it or cast it to your TV. It's not the most straight forward method, but blame Apple for that. Movies stream extremely well on our Chromecasts from my iPhone 6 Plus or my fiances 6. The best part about it is that a 30$ HDMI dongle will do the work of its much pricer Apple counterpart. Make sure to check for offers often as well within the app and your Chromecast!

  • Bad streaming

Incredibly frustrating to watch video content on this slow-streaming app. Unlike the seamless video of Netflix, Google Play constantly 'buffers' even on a strong wireless connection. Moreover, you can't shop for or download videos directly via the app. It's astounding that Google would allow the general public to download and use this app, when the company has had such stellar product and service offerings to this point. One would expect at least some benefit to using the Google Play app - I bought specifically to work with the Chromecast, another Google product, and I expected them at least to work well together to some extent. Netflix app is much better, though. The picture quality via Google Play is poor (even tho the content is HD) and again we have the 'buffering' problem, about every 5-10 seconds. Very disappointing. I see no reason to try to use this player again. Sorry Google - call me when you've done another round of beta

  • 2 Star Ratings and with Good Reason

The app opened but it was all downhill from there for the most part.

I rented a movie, downloaded this app, opened the app, downloaded the movie and then it wouldn't play after many attempts. So, I restarted the whole process and after a few more unsuccessful attempts (including one that threw an error message that stated I should watch the movie on the device I originally downloaded it to, which I was certainly already using) I finally got the movie to play.

It has now been a few hours later and the rented movie is still valid to watch according to the 48-hour post time allowance yet it now decides to display a "license" error and ceases to play all together.

  • The Chromecast and Chromebook user's dream app

Chromebook, Chromecast, and... iPhone? Well, let's just say, thanks to the Google Play suite of apps especially, they all get along profoundly nicely.

I can purchase movies, songs, and TV shows on the Chromebook. Then, I can proceed to beam them to the Chromecast, connected to a 32-inch HDTV in my room, where I can watch them in all their glory, complete with the awesome sound experience the TV offers, and also enjoy listening to music through those same awesome speakers. Apple TV users need a remote. Not me. No ecosystem is able to do this, ESPECIALLY across platforms, like Google's.
