Great app but the UI overhaul introduced some issues.

Loved this app before the update. It looks great, but can no longer edit my scores and reviews. Please fix!

Can no longer log in after update

This app used to be great. I don’t mind the updated UI. However, since the update, Sign in with Apple is completely broken. I get an error every time. I have not been able to access my lists in over a month. Very close to deleting the app. I’ve already contacted support and was told they were aware of the issue and working on a fix. Frustrating that something like this wasn’t thoroughly tested before releasing the update. And even more frustrating that this issue is taking so long to fix. I would think a known login issue would be prioritized and resolved quickly.

Good app, basic feature behind overpriced paywall

This functions as you’d expect, similar to Vivino and untappd but for spirits. What is lame is they expect $5 a month/$50 a year for features that the previously mentioned apps include for free. In what world would I pay $50 a year just to scan a barcode 🤦‍♂️I get servers cost money but seriously. $5/$10 one time fee, a few bucks a year maybe, but this current price structure just means I’m either going to be deleting this soon or just sticking to manual search.

Best Whisk(e)y App

I’ve not yet found anything that comes close to this!

Great for all Whisk(e)y lovers!

New interface takes getting used to

I only started using Distiller about two weeks before the new redesign was released, and they had made a few changes I was not happy with. But they seem to be listening to the feedback and making things better. The flavor profile wave is back, which is great, because I can easily see from the shape of the wave if it’s something I’m going to like. Visually, the flavor tags graph is less useful, but I like the concept of the tags changing over time as more tags are added. I do see it as something that could be ripe for abuse, though hopefully the Distiller team will do a good job of moderating it.

I’m still unable to login via Apple ID, but I was able to reset my password, so I use my email address to login instead.

I like the website’s Recommend feature, and I hope that comes to the app soon. Also, can you add a search or index for the articles? I would like to be able to refer back to older articles without having to scroll to find them.

Hi Jeff, thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I've passed your feedback along to the team about wanting us to bring back the old flavor profile and to have sort settings persist across sessions. These are really helpful and constructive suggestions, so they mean a lot to us. We'll be hard at working improving the app every day, so there are lots of important updates to come. Cheers!

v7.x = Dumbed down design FAIL!

The “reimagining” of Distiller v7.x is neither “better” nor “faster” as claimed in the release notes!

The new design is AWFUL! They seem to have succumb to the bad advice of some digital guro, drank the digital kool-aid, embraced this obnoxious trend within website and app design, and wrongly concluded that consumers want oversized pictures and excessive white space! The size of pics and use of white space in the previous design was much preferable. Making more efficient use of vertical screen space, resulting in a nice balance between list efficiency and visual appeal.

On the list view in the new design: the header, search field, “Add spirit” button, and bottom navigation bar … combined with their supporting white space … use 50% of the screen’s vertical real estate. 50%!?! That means the actual list can display NO MORE than two items in the available space.

As other users have noted in their reviews, the helpful information that was offered in previous versions has been dumbed down to the point the app offers no value. The previous “Flavor profile” graph, which was very useful and intuitive, has been replaced with a useless heat mapped horizontal line.

Hi John, thanks for your feedback. Be sure to update to the latest version of the app, as the old flavor profiles have been re-added. Each page will now display both the "Top Flavor Tags" as well as the "Flavor Profile" that you were used to. As for your feedback on the Lists view, that is something we're addressing with future releases. All other information on spirit pages is still available as before, just designed in an easier to read way. Would you be open to emailing us at hello@distiller.com with some more specific feedback so we can work on addressing your concerns? Cheers!

Keeps getting better!!!

I can't recommend this app enough! It continually improves, used to be only whiskey but now it's got a bunch of spirits-- including mezcal, which is rad. The ratings system is great and I love those flavor profile graphs. If you want to know what's up when sipping liquor or making cocktails, get distiller asap!!!

Big improvement

Very impressed with the new version. Barcode scan is a big win and I might even start using the lists again.

Great App

Never leads you wrong. I love the taste profiles. Helps me pick similar products from other distilleries.

Great app if you like whiskey

I found out about new releases and also get great input from experienced tasters/bourbon afficionados before I buy the bottle which often influences my decisions to try new labels. I like to source basic info and look at the intricate flavor profiles and think this app only continues to improve and bring the whiskey community closer.
