You will not be forced to upgrade to the subscription to keep using Scanbot. The Subscription will open up more features for you in the future, but please do not feel forced to Subscribe. Committed the cardinal app sin
I understand moving to a subscription model but tricking users into an ‘update’ or ‘restore’ that strips out functionality is a sly and dishonest tactic.
I’m not usually one for a inordinate focus on change management, but in this case, the SwiftScan team require a lesson in communicating change.
I’ve used this app for many years, and supported by paying for a pro version in the early days.
Removing the functionality I paid for, regardless of how long ago, is dishonest. Will be looking for alternatives.

Developers - treating your existing customers well is the way to ensure they remain customers in the future. Please fix this issue as a priority.
