Here's a new giant content update for Wayward Souls! We have added an all new playable character: Gallus, the Paladin. - Fix for rare crashes when using teleporter tiles - Fix for a similar crash when facing the current final boss Paladin Update should be next! Likely in the first quarter of 2017, we have to wrap up the PC version first so we can port the PC content to the update. It will be our last content update for Wayward Souls. New character class with new abilities, new special dungeon for that character, and his own story. Then other new features and content, such as rare minibosses, new songs, new animations for every character and monster, and more!

Here's another content update! This one adds something for both our most skilled players, and something to help people that have gotten stuck. Paladin Update with save sharing/backup support is going to be the next big update, and that should come out at around the same time as the PC version of the game. - New mode! Gauntlet Mode is a 6 floor dungeon that's designed to be quick to play, but extremely difficult. - You can now unlock classes by finding chests in Mines/Tower/Catacombs, instead of having to beat each area. This is to help people that get stuck. The amount of chests required are 30/50/70. - Pet added: Cave Crab. - Pets have a 20% chance per floor, up from 15%. - Rare pets have a 4% chance to be found, up from 2%. - Bugfix for Rocketcat not attacking. - Fix for text after beating Labyrinth. - Rat Buffs: %5/10 lootfind upped to 10% and 15%. - Slug nerfs: 10/15 +maxhealth lowered to 5 and 10. - Slimespawn reduced to 5 maxhealth, buff duration stays the same. - Chatterpile to +10 health instaed of +15. - Silken Spider up to 7% lootdrop, runspeed is the same. - Gnomey to 20% lootdrop, coindrop still at 25%. - Cave Newt and Mine Bat to 3 +healthrecovery instead of 5. - Fire Salamander and Duck to 6 +healthrecovery instead of 10. - Spellsword weapon upgrades now properly have their charge attack phase through spells. - Skull's fireball AOE subtracts an attack charge for every shot rather than every hit. This applies to other attack pets too. Stay tuned for news on the Paladin update! Follow us at @rocketcatgames for frequent news.

Description of Wayward Souls

Wayward Souls is an action-adventure game built for quick playthroughs and massive amounts of replay value. It was inspired by Spelunky, Secret of Mana, and our previous game, Mage Gauntlet. Procedurally generated random levels mean that every time you play the game, it's a different experience. Control one of six characters, all with their own unique playstyles, abilities, and equipment. Explore and fight for survival, in combat where your tactics, positioning, and timing matter. More Features: - Fancy control scheme with no virtual buttons or sticks to fumble over. - Unlock new areas, for increasingly punishing difficulty. - 13 area types, all with different monsters, potential traps, and rare encounters. - Each character can find equipment combinations that change their gameplay. - Victory is based on your increasing skill as a player, not solely on grinding. - Hats. - No IAP ever, even for the hats. All content updates will be free for our fans. - Unprecedented scope and variety for an action-adventure game on iOS, maybe anywhere. @rocketcatgames or www.facebook.com/rocketcatgames

Reviews of Wayward Souls

  • Well Made But Not For Me

If you’re generally a fan of Roguelikes, you can stop reading here and hit the Buy button. It’s well crafted and mechanically deep, certainly worth it for a fan of the genre.

But, if you’re like me, this game won’t be the Roguelike to get you into the genre. Despite procedurally generated levels, I found it maddeningly repetitive, without enough progression between runs to feel different or varied. The separate characters played somewhat differently initially but the game felt stale pretty quickly regardless of who you’re playing with.

This isn’t coming from someone who played an hour, died a bunch, and quit. I logged enough hours and made enough progress to say that I think I understand what the game has to offer. It just isn’t for me.

TLDR: if you like Roguelikes and don’t mind replaying the same section repeatedly, it’s a very impressive mobile version of the genre. If you aren’t already sold on Roguelikes, like me, I’d recommend you skip it.
  • Amazing game

This is the only review I will prolly willingly write but this game has it all tbh. It’s music is a banger and really brings the ambiance. The upgrades are fun and well designed as well as showing up on your character, the character progression system is nice as you have to work your way up before reaching the potentially broken ones (and also keeps the game interesting as you progress. Actual banger game and I really enjoy it. Good job devs
  • Perfect mesh of handheld and mobile game

The quality of this game makes it good enough to be on a handheld gaming system like a DS. I also found that it scratches my desire for a “Souls-like” challenge for mobile games.
Wayward Souls makes it to the top of my recommended mobile games.
