TopXNotes Pro is the iOS version of TopXNotes for the Mac. It features note sharing between the two but it can act as a stand alone app. It provides note creation and editing in both landscape and portrait modes as well as Air Printing and note encryption. You can email a note, backup/restore to the device, and add clickable hot links. You also have full access to all fonts and font sizes Apple offers in iOS from the Note Preferences. You get to select the desired font and size to be used for displaying all existing notes. The default is 18 point Helvetica, but there are literally hundreds of choices. You can temporarily change the font size of any existing note while viewing or editing by taping the ABC icon at the bottom of the screen. A slider control will appear. This is referred to as the NoteZoom. TopXNotes Pro provides a listing of all the notes on your device, including the creation date. These can then be sorted by date or title in ascending or descending order. You can create a new note or edit an existing one. If you need to add to your ToDo list then just tap the Edit button and type away. TopXNotes Pro supports backup and restore directly to your device. If you accidentally delete a crucial note, you can tap the back-up/restore notepad function in the settings of the app to retrieve your missing information.
The main reason I wanted to get this app was for the NoteSync which is built into TopXNotes Mac. I wanted to see how easy it was to sync to multiple iDevices from my Mac. TopXNotes Mac has been my favourite ToDo application since I first came across it a few years back. I much prefer it to Apple’s Notes application. The best feature of it is the Multiview. I have created several lists but have only two of them open at all times. One is the ToDo items for this week and the other is for next week's chores. I can add to either list at any time, comparing what I have in each and moving things around. As I complete the week's projects, I simply delete them from the appropriate list. I check this app many times a day in order to remind myself what is left to do. With MultiView, I am not restricted to only two notes. I can have as many notes open at the same time as I have room for on my screen. The other lists I keep out of the way until I want to check them. The second feature I really appreciate about TopXNotes is how easily I can apply styling to my notes. I can change the font, size, style, and colour for any text in each note separately. I can change the background colour and align portions of text on a note. All of these controls are available from both the Text menu and a handy tool bar that resides above the note on which you are working. I can also add a clickable URL link to take me directly to any web page I need to work with. There was no problem synching my lists. In TopXNotes Mac I set the category of any notes I wanted transferred to Sync. I made sure I was on the same network. In the iOS app, I enabled the iDevice for Sync by tapping the on/off sync switch. I initiate the synchronization from the Mac computer (under the File menu) and in an instant the lists of both were exchanged. You can consider this method to be cloud-free Wi-Fi synching. Once the link is established you can copy device notes to Mac, and copy notes you select from Mac to device. Unsynched notes appear in red in the notes list on the iDevice. The sync process will copy the most recently changed note (either direction), manage deleted notes, and keep your mobile notes and Mac notes in sync. You use your TopXNotes Mac key to control which Mac can exchange information with your devices. This prevents some random Mac running TopXNotes from easily syncing and grabbing your notes.
With this app,I now have my notes with me at all times. I can create new notes, edit them, delete some and most of all keep them in-sync with my Mac's notes.
