the way this app is marketed is a gross misrepresentation of the men available. they really let anyone in. don’t waste your time.

No Canada representation

M Based in western Canada. Probably not the apps fault but basically there’s very little women. I get shown 50s 60s & a few times over that- women from NYC! Doesn’t even match my age range, or type. Specify Caucasian women yet I get shown other genotypes which do nothing for me. I’m sure the ‘2nd half of life’ ladies are nice people but if I wanted to date them I would already! Good luck finding women to 35 who want to start a family.

Had one match, 43-nice lady but meeting her- pics looked 10yrs old & not my physical type. Felt kinda catfished.

Oh well back to tinder & bumble.

Thank you for your review. All Memberships and in-app purchases are optional. Once off the Waitlist, Guest users can Vote, Match, and Chat entirely for free. We do not encourage our users to seek League users out on other social media platforms, although some users will add their handles to their League profile. It is one of the worst dating app ever don’t want your money don’t waste your time. Don’t waste anything even looking at what inside, period.

Quality of prospects vs money charged is imbalanced

So the app takes a frustratingly long time to accept you as a member. This is to try and filter you out and make sure you are a top prospect. However there seems to be a huge imbalance as the prospects that are sent to me either live miles away or are simply not what I would call elite. They other problem is they try to push the ladies who look like models - ultimately who will be out of my league so there is a massive mismatch. They only send three prospects per day. This just doesn’t work. It might if they were local, had similar interests etc then perhaps. Additionally women don’t tend to search for men. They set up the profile and sit back whilst hundreds of messages reach them from men and they take their pick. So like all apps this one is also flawed.

Then there is the big one. In order to do anything with this app (navigation is not intuitive) then be prepared to hit the big money. However if your going to spend this k d of money you are better off joining an elite dating agency who will be so much better in actively searching and arranging by dates with people who will be a good match.

The idea behind this app is good but the people on it can be found on tinder and bumble. Certainly not the app and quality of people it portrays. A real shame.

Hi Rick762 - Thank you for your review. All Memberships and in-app purchases are entirely optional. The Waitlist is designed to encourage users to complete their Profile. The system, and the Drafting Team, look for Profiles with six photos, completed About Me and Interest sections, and one social media platform verified. Users on the Waitlist with completed Profiles can email support@theleague.com to have their Profile expedited to the Drafting Team. Regarding Prospects, a user's Preferences and location affect how many local users are available for the system to place into their Daily Batches. If you would like an agent to look into your account and offer suggestions on how you may have more local Prospects or Prospects with similar interests, don't hesitate to contact Support. Thank you.

Impossible to delete account

I created an account to see what the app was like, after going through the onboarding process I decided it wasn’t for me but there is nowhere on the app to delete your profile, you have to submit a request to delete it!?

Not only that, you can’t take down any information or pictures you’ve uploaded, I’ve had to replace it with black images.

I’ve emailed The League twice now to help me delete my account and had no response. Almost feels like a scam that you can’t remove or delete your one information.

I signed up for the site and was “off the waitlist” in one or two days out of 38,000 people. I find it hard to believe that thousands of people are waiting to get on the site. Seems more like a marketing tactic to get you to buy a membership so not sure if I’m buying it. When you first get on the site, you are assigned a “dating concierge” (aka a bot claiming to have gone to an Ivy League school) who gives you dating tips to be more successful on the site. I will say the site is full of very attractive, professional men but it’s not very diverse and predominantly white. As a non paying member you are shown 3 prospects a day (and not always new ones) and can only correspond with other members on the site you match with. Unless you pay for a membership you don’t have access to many perks on the site and are essentially just waiting around for someone to match with you. You also can’t see any “likes” from other members unless you pay so again, you’re just hoping you match with one of your daily prospects. The price of the memberships start as “low” as $100 for ONE WEEK. I understand the concept of paying more to have access to better quality people but I agree with a lot of others who found the pricing to be outlandish. I’ve also noticed A LOT of the same men who are on the site are also on hinge as well which is a way cheaper alternative for the “same access.”

App Ignores Your Age Preferences

This app continues to make me laugh each day with just how ridiculous it is! Like most apps, when you join you choose your dating preference, age, distance, etc. While all the apps by The Match Group learn your preferences and then deliberately hide those who meet your preferences behind a paywall, this app takes the extortion to an entirely new level. This app won’t even respect your most basic preference—age. After setting my age range, I documented the age rage of the 3 daily prospects for 8 days. Only 2 prospects in 8 days fell within my age range. 22 did not. Put another way, 92% of the prospects the app gave me fell outside the age range I specified. And to be clear, I live in a major city, have a large age range, and that range is reasonable relative to my age. But the app ignores even this most basic of preferences then has the audacity to ask me for $300 per seek to join! Hahhahahahahhahahah Why would I EVER pay for an app that has so blatantly and repeatedly ignores the most basic of all dating preferences?! Seriously, why would anybody ever pay for an app that ignores your preferences, an app which acknowledges that it does, and then when you ask Support why it’s doing this, they tell you that it ignores your preferences because the app knows better than you do what’s good for you!?! Ahahhaahahhahahahahahahahah!!! Rating: Negative 1 star.

You nor any User who creates a Profile is obligated to upgrade or purchase any in-App Features...all of this is optional and up to the individual User to decide what is right for them. Our Guest (Free) Users (once they are Drafted in with a completed Profile) are capable of creating Matches...and Messaging their Matches for FREE! Also, we have multiple tiers of Memberships to upgrade to and $999 is not the cheapest...after FREE it would be $99 per month. Haven’t made a single connection

Maybe I’m just average looking but I barely got two matches. The video call feature is cool but I only ever talked to one person from a place I would never visit in person. The premium feature of the app are so expensive. Not worth it imo.

Not for me.

While it was fun to be handpicked as elite enough to enter this little online social club, I’m not a fan of its exclusionary nature. Being able to filter by ethnicity is strange for an app that claims, & I quote: “the league … prioritizes users who value intelligence and are looking for a serious relationship that goes deeper than physical attraction.” I believe you should absolutely be with someone you’re attracted too. However, this feature perpetuates harmful racial stigmata. You’re either demonized or fetishized by your physical appearance as a person of color. It’s extremely uncomfortable. I also believe the exclusionary nature limits my personal engagement. You’re allowed to see only 5 users a day, which means there’s a low like /match rate. Their competition allows me to have hundreds of likes a day that match my educational and professional requirements. Meaning, there’s not much of an incentive to remain on the app. I’m attempting to be patient. I’m giving it 1 more day, but I’m not impressed as of yet.

Update:
I didn’t even last another day despite my attempt. It’s definitely not for me. I thought I’d like it since I don’t do hook up culture because of my religion & I have academic/ professional requirements for a potential partner. But I put up those boundaries every where I go and don’t need to rely on this app for that. Just wasn’t worth the waiting line and staying daily for just 5 ppl.

Hello - Thanks for the review. We appreciate your feedback. We allow all users to have Preferences because everyone is looking for different things. Yes, we focus on intelligence, but users have Preferences regarding what they are physically attracted to. So, although we don't promote that physical aspect, users will still have that to themselves when voting. Our system will use your Preferences as Preferences and not a hard filter.
