Leave a Review Bit City
Mindless and mindful
This game is incredibly soothing. I opened the app after a few years of not playing and was reminded how nice it is. I’ve been using it to relax after work during a stressful few months.
The concept is simple and easy. The advancement is satisfying; even though the cost of things inflates proportionally as the game advances, it adds challenge and milestones feel earned.
The aesthetic is simple and pleasant. The graphics are generally cheery and surprisingly detailed, for such a small-scale bitmap game. The variety of buildings makes city planning entertaining and keeps me invested in the lives of my hypothetical tiny citizens whom I never see.
I could easily auto fill sections of town but I love building a few spaces at a time. I like to be mindful of what goes where and save the buildings once I get the result I want. The randomization keeps things exciting (to the degree that a sim like this is exciting) and the historical option makes plans feel rewarding; it’s a pleasant balance.
That said, I’m never quite satisfied and always wishing for more new buildings! Especially after a certain point in levels. Repetition is not bothersome and can look quite nice at times, but sometimes I find myself wishing for a new building to unlock from time to time.
Well done to the developers and thank you for this game.Show lessWon’t open since update
Since the April update I can’t get passed the opening. If I delete and reinstall I know I will lose 2 years worth of progress. Can’t find any updated comments on this game at all. Was the update actually an app killer since no one seems to care about it? EDIT. Well is seems one other player is having the same issue. It is over a week that this is not loading properly. I will give it till the weekend to be corrected otherwise I will delete it. What a shame Nimblebit. You were my favorite developer.
Update
. Customer service contacted me and within a couple of days I’m back online. Thank you.Show lessNot for small phones
The fourth town is too big to see on a small phone. You have to zoom in to see which cars you need to click on, then out to keep an eye on your missions—constantly. The smaller towns were ok and doable. I was enjoying the game on the smaller towns, but it just became too difficult to play once I hit the fourth town, so I deleted it. I liked that there weren’t planes that went by too fast, but these are often way above the town and if you keep it zoomed out to see them, you can’t see the indicators above the cars. I’d recommend making those indicators larger. Meanwhile, it’s just too hard to play on a smaller phone SE2. I also agree with another reviewer that the tutorial needs a lot of improvement. It’s a shame, because I really wanted to like this oneShow less
