  • Mindless and mindful

This game is incredibly soothing. I opened the app after a few years of not playing and was reminded how nice it is. I’ve been using it to relax after work during a stressful few months.

The concept is simple and easy. The advancement is satisfying; even though the cost of things inflates proportionally as the game advances, it adds challenge and milestones feel earned.

The aesthetic is simple and pleasant. The graphics are generally cheery and surprisingly detailed, for such a small-scale bitmap game. The variety of buildings makes city planning entertaining and keeps me invested in the lives of my hypothetical tiny citizens whom I never see.

I could easily auto fill sections of town but I love building a few spaces at a time. I like to be mindful of what goes where and save the buildings once I get the result I want. The randomization keeps things exciting (to the degree that a sim like this is exciting) and the historical option makes plans feel rewarding; it’s a pleasant balance.

That said, I’m never quite satisfied and always wishing for more new buildings! Especially after a certain point in levels. Repetition is not bothersome and can look quite nice at times, but sometimes I find myself wishing for a new building to unlock from time to time.

Well done to the developers and thank you for this game.

  • Won’t open since update

Since the April update I can’t get passed the opening. If I delete and reinstall I know I will lose 2 years worth of progress. Can’t find any updated comments on this game at all. Was the update actually an app killer since no one seems to care about it? EDIT. Well is seems one other player is having the same issue. It is over a week that this is not loading properly. I will give it till the weekend to be corrected otherwise I will delete it. What a shame Nimblebit. You were my favorite developer.
    Update
. Customer service contacted me and within a couple of days I’m back online. Thank you.

  • Not for small phones

The fourth town is too big to see on a small phone. You have to zoom in to see which cars you need to click on, then out to keep an eye on your missions—constantly. The smaller towns were ok and doable. I was enjoying the game on the smaller towns, but it just became too difficult to play once I hit the fourth town, so I deleted it. I liked that there weren’t planes that went by too fast, but these are often way above the town and if you keep it zoomed out to see them, you can’t see the indicators above the cars. I’d recommend making those indicators larger. Meanwhile, it’s just too hard to play on a smaller phone SE2. I also agree with another reviewer that the tutorial needs a lot of improvement. It’s a shame, because I really wanted to like this one

  • Fun little time waster

This game is fun. It follows the same path as games like Adventure Capitalist and Egg, Inc. where you advance as far as you can, level by level, unlocking improvements to earn money, before you start over with bonuses (Prestige) that help you build faster and bigger. It really doesn’t feel as refined as either of those but it’s the same idea.

For what it is, it is a good time waster and I suppose there’s nothing inherently wrong with the game. But after having gone through so many games like this, it just feels a bit dry to me. It could also be because I was looking for an iOS version city builder game like old school Sim City or modern day Cities: Skylines. I was looking for a slightly more detailed and intimate experience.

I don’t hate this game by any means. I’m just burnt out on the style. Definitely a 4-5 star game.

  • First half is fun

The first half of Bit City is engaging. Building ever increasing cities with cars, planes, boats and edifices. Enjoyed the game until level 9 when the location changed to the moon. The lunar cities are massively expensive to build. When you get to the last two sites there is a lot of down time trying to amass enough coins to progress or build. The game gets boring.

Problem two is the odd variety of buildings, vehicles and services at all levels. You can build multiple pet cemeteries but the high school is way too costly to do more than once. The lunar city changes planes and boats to rovers and satellites but keeps cars and gas stations. Sorry Chevron. Fossil fuels will not work on the moon. Where is the charging station or nuclear plant?

And one final gripe...I do not mind watching a video for extra points or to speed up play. However, several of these ads are very violent. Humans and zombies killing and peeing on each other are not something I want to see repeated over and over.

This isn’t a bad game. It needs some real tweaks to make it better. Maybe create a Lunar Bit City with space type accessories.

I love the rest of the Nimblebits games that I have played. This one not so much.

  • Great App

I love this app. There is nothing more frustrating then to have an app that has video ads every few moves. I love Tiny Tower Vegas, and wanted to give this a try. I also love Sim City, but I’m not smart enough for that game :) This game takes the strategy that comes with Sim City, simplified the concept, and the video ads are only if you want to double your earnings either with the welcome back bonus that is an option, or to have 10 minutes of double income. Plus, the ads are only approx. 20 seconds in length. This is by far my favorite new app. Thank you, Nimblebit, for creating fun, and enjoyable apps. Keep up the great work, and creative fun.

  • Overall great but minor additions

The game overall is very fun and enjoyable however there are a few simple things I would enjoy, such as the ability to turn the buildings, because an interesting building might be facing the wrong way, and in order to see it better there should be a way to turn the building 90, 180, 270, and 360 degrees. Also, I think that, while a lot to ask for, maybe have the buildings interact with one another, so there would be competition between schools, houses, and businesses, not just between the businesses, service, and housing over control of space. This could be done with the flow of traffic, and and that could be controlled by blocking off certain roads. Finally, maybe the ability to create your own city, because while the levels are cool to see the progression of earning, it can get boring of level after level and the ability to create your own city would be cool. Just some suggestions, overall the game is pretty fun and is a great idea, good job.

  • Honest review

So I personally love a lot of their games they make, but this one I like the most, it strikes me as a perfect game for when your sitting on the toilet, sitting in a waiting room, waiting for your meal at a restaurant, and a game you can play while sitting on the couch. It’s not hard on your eyes while you play the game and it’s a very easy game that you can learn on the go. The UI is very simple and has a slight aesthetic look to it. This game doesn’t expect you to waste any money on it, and respects you while your on the grind for coins.

I plan on keeping this game on my phone for awhile (which I rarely do).

For the people who are looking to download it, I’d say give it a try. Not everyone will like this type of game but it does help pass some time.

  • Don’t waste your time.

I really enjoyed playing this game for the first few weeks, but honestly the ‘prestige’ function ruined it for me. Supposedly she. You prestige you make a higher percentage of money while playing than you would without having done it, but it seems pretty clear to me that they just increased the prices of every in game action to an astronomical point. I made it to the 6th or 7th city, traded in 145+ keys and had a +173% earning bonus when I restarted. So explain why it took me the same amount of time, if not longer, to get back to levels 3 and 4. It’s not fair to me to jack the prices up to 5mil for one large plot and close to a mil for the second and third small plots. I played every day for weeks and now it’s uninstalled and I will not be wasting any more of my time with this ‘game.’ Even after unlocking many special buildings, not worth it. Try idle theme park or grocery store if you want to waste time, not this.

  • Really really good

Finally a game that doesn’t push its ads on you!!. this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I have the choice to see ads, if I don’t want to watch them I don’t have to.. only if I ever want a multiplier do I have to watch an add! Also when you stop playing the multiplier doesn’t keep going in the back ground it waits for you to get back into the game before starting the timer where you left it.. simply amazing.. the game is addicting in itself too, I find it very difficult to put it down once I’ve started playing. It’s honestly refreshing to see this, as every other game I’ve played on here tries so hard to make money off you they don’t let you play! These developers have done something amazing with this one. A good game idea! with a non pushy ad strategy. Amazing work! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
