Beware of Skillshare’s Predatory Subscription Practices

I signed up for Skillshare expecting transparency and fairness, but instead, I was met with shady renewal tactics and outright refusal to adhere to consumer protection laws. They renewed my subscription without giving proper notice, and when I reached out for a refund, they hid behind their internal policies, which blatantly ignore UK consumer law.
Their team claims to have sent a renewal reminder, but I received no such email. Even worse, they completely disregarded my legal right to a 14-day cooling-off period, which is a statutory requirement for digital subscriptions under UK law.
Skillshare’s customer service is dismissive, and their so-called “refund policy” is nothing more than a shield for their money-grabbing practices. They care more about locking people into subscriptions than fostering goodwill or retaining loyal customers.
If you’re thinking of signing up, be warned: Skillshare prioritises profits over principles. I’ll never use their platform again and am actively warning others to stay away. Companies like this should not be allowed to operate unchecked.

Disappointing service
I tried the free trial, and afterwards they automatically charged me for a yearly subscription. I got the email I was charged the 23rd, I contacted them immediately demanding a refund. Saying I was a student and couldn’t afford the 250$ for a yearly subscription. And I never wanted a 1 year subscription I just wanted to to try the free trial. I contacted them twice and they say that it’s their policy, once the free trial ends, that’s it, they got you. Very concerning and very disappointing. Just be very careful if your trying the free trial, they will charge you without warning.
I don’t usually write reviews in general, but 250$ for a student is a lot of money. I was very surprised and disappointed as mentioned before.

Pricing problem and glitches
Hi Creators of Skillshare so I’ve been having problems on your app little own website as well and I’ve been getting a lot of glitches on this app to the point that I can’t scroll down and edit my profile but not only that the pricing is a bit absurd and my opinion because I can’t pay for $50 per month let alone per year and for the yearly one is 178$! A year and I think this is a bit too much because I’m a student myself cannot afford something this expensive little alone the little price such as $50 per month but it’s just too much to cost us that much to get an inscription and a student like me cannot afford something like this per month little alone a year but not only that it’s so very glitchy as well because I couldn’t edit my profile or add a photo on it and it’s driving me insane and don’t get me wrong your app is pretty cool at all but I just can’t afford it sadly and I really want to try it so badly so maybe lower the prices to the point that’s a bit affordable so does a yearly then maybe I’ll try it out if it’s OK and I get it you guys need money too in order to continue your business but rising up the prices won’t solve anything actually that only makes it not getting more money as well so that’s the problem that I have with Skillshare AKA the app one is the pricing and two is the glitches so yeah that’s all thank you for reading my review👌👌👍✨🎉

PAID ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION THEN SKILLSHARE CLOSED MY ACCOUNT
I paid for an annual subscription after my trial phase and then after it was paid i pressed cancel subscription so it does not auto-renew for that large fee because who knows if I will be able to afford it in a year and the year is a long time away to forget. Well after unsubscribing I still should have had access to the year. Skillshare then canceled my account and i cannot even log into the account. I have reached out to them in several emails to get access to my account which is what i want i was enjoying the classes I enrolled in and the last resort is a refund to enroll again. Well they replied back to deny the refund and nothing has resolved about my classes being able to use the. There is no number to call. It’s all very frustrating. I came here in hopes they see this in their customer engagement department and reach out to me to offer me my membership back and compensate me with additional months since I’ve missed out on a month and a half since dealing with this situation. Thank you.

Predatory practices
I was just trying out the free 1 week trial never would I have tried it if I knew I would have to pay for an intire year! This is highly predatory and I am very upset at this practice. I’ll be sure not to recommend this platform to anyone I know. No message was even sent to me to notify that a plan was even purchased until I look at my spending that is not cool at all

Will not let me login
I enjoy watching the lessons that are created on this platform (which I can access on my computer) but the app will not let me login on my phone 😩 There is always an error code.
Subscription scam
Whole business is based on you forgetting your trial and them overcharging you for awful courses
How do you change your profile picture?
How do you change the profile picture in the edit profile setting? I would like to change my profile picture.
Keeps crashing and signing me out
This app is super flakey. When I try browsing, it won’t “hold: my position, just keeps going back to the beginning. The search filters are also not clean, it insists on giving me digital classes which I’m not interested in.
Crooks
They will charge automatically. No notice. They won’t refund you because you went through their trial. Worst company ever.
