So pleased!

I LOVE having access to a dietician and I absolutely adore her, Jamie. I’m also super pleased with my medical person, Kylie. Both are VERY quick to respond to questions. I love the little bite sized daily featured articles. They’re often repeated but not a big deal. I wish they had a way to add recipes to the app. It would make logging food so much easier. As it is now I have to add recipes to MyFitnessPal and then physically type the nutritional information in the food log for my dietician to see but it still doesn’t add/subtract the nutritional information from your daily settings. They don’t put any foods or drinks off limits or make you feel guilty for wanting to enjoy your dessert or have drinks with friends they just help you make it balance.
I LOVE that it integrated with Apple! It pulls my steps right over! In helping you increase your activity level they give you ACHIEVABLE goals…they don’t expect you to go from 200 steps a day to 10,000. It’s just a wonderfully supportive group!

It takes forever to meet with a doctor. The app itself is fine

My insurance recommend me to -download this app back in May 2024 I met with a dietitian right away Sarah she was great and then they wanted me to go get labs and then after I got labs I was supposed to meet with a doctor well the lab orders never showed up in the documents and I waited and then they told me to wait because your provider was on vacation so I waited and then they said I should have the documents but wait 48 hours so after all this for four weeks, they resent the labs and then I finally got them a month later went and got my lab work done and then they let me make an appointment with the doctor and her first available was one month after that and I am supposed to have an appointment with them in July and for whatever reason it is now gone or has been canceled and the next available appointment isn’t until the end of August and none of those times work for me, because the only times available are in the morning so to finally meet with the doctor it’ll be six months after I started this. I would never pay for this service. I contact support and asked for help as it has taken over 4 months to get started and they said that all the doctors are a month or more waiting period out. I have read others randomly have their appointments cancelled too. I decided it was better to just cancel the program and delete the app. There are other apps out there better than this

Absolutely terrible service

It’s so bad I’m not sure if it’s the people or app that is to blame. I make appointments but they are canceled and neither my provider or I know why. Part of it is automated so I’m always getting messages asking me to complete things like blood work when I haven’t even been able to get on the medication due to the shortage. Today I log on and my provider isn’t listed and it’s someone else down in the chat but I have no idea who they are and there was no message that they were taking over. I’m forced to use Vida through my insurance. I’ve had a number of other issues that were fairly minor but they just add to the overall terrible experience. If you have any choice I would recommend not using them strongly.

Hi, please contact us at support@vida.com so that we can look into the issues with the appointments and the lab work submissions. We'd also be happy to look into the coach changes and provide any insight we can as to why changes were made.

First impression

In honesty I was very skeptical about what this was going to be since it was more of a have to thing rather than a recommendation from my Dr. for insurance to cover meds had to sign up but I decided to be optimistic. That optimism is paying off. Tons of information. New ways to keep up with diet and blood testing. Logging many other types of information is Al just another accountability measure. Still playing with the app To discover all it can do for me. Then there is the help from my dietician plus I have a new health care person I have yet to meet but that is scheduled. Reading posts from other people and seeing the questions they have also opens the gates to new questions I have and seeing how some people are handling the same issues I have is enlightening.

So far the only down points I can see is there is no way to log meds taken like amounts of insulin on a sliding scale and the food log is a little tough to get a hang of. Other than that I am very happy with this new way to help me manage my diabetes

Really find quick access to dietitan very helpful

I've been using Vida for about 3 years, and I find that it really helps me by being accountable to the goals I set. When I have questions I can just message my dietitian or coach and get answers pretty quickly. It's also free for me through my employer, which is kind of crazy. Some of the mental health information is okay and the groups are not really helping me, but that just seems like gravy for all the other stuff. Recommended.

A warning

My insurance offered this program for free to help its members lose weight and become more healthy. I had my first session with my coach which went well. They were going to set me up with a dietitian so I was excited. My coach asked several health questions and if I had ever had a eating disorder. I said yes. I am in my mid-fifties and had one for a few months when I was 13. I got help and it was fully resolved. I have not had an issue since. They told me I couldn’t meet with my coach or dietitian until I met with a mental health case manager because I said I had had an eating disorder when I was 13!!!! I expressed that I had not had an eating disorder for 43 years, but they wouldn’t back down since it is “policy”. So, I deleted my Vida Health App and I am done. I refuse to waste my time to revisit a painful and closed chapter in my life from 43 years ago!!!! My insurance company was not impressed at my experience, either. Also, Vida wanted a complete list of all my medications. I don’t need this hassle to lose a few pounds. I will just join Weight Watchers.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave this thoughtful review. Member safety is our top priority at Vida. We look at each member’s medical history and current symptoms to be sure that our programs are a good fit for each member - evaluations and screenings help us gather this information. For members where our programs are not currently a good fit, we refer the member to programs that specialize in managing any highly specific care needs. Members who receive additional care can return to Vida programs with medical clearance. Again, thank you for your review and please reach out to support@vida.com with any additional questions or concerns.

Best thing I did for myself

Vida gets you connected with a therapist of your choosing that you think best suits you. It’s is catered to you specifically allowing you to control when your meeting are and go at your own pace. For me this app was life changing and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Update months later:
I cannot stress how much I needed this app my life hasn’t just been better I have had a complete 180 in mental health. I felt for a long time I had no control over all the bad things in life and with vida and especially my coach V she has given me the perspective I have been yearning for my entire life

Hi there, we're so touched by your glowing review and excited to continue to support you through the app!

Kinda have the similar feedback as others

I have different devices with Vida installed. When calls come in, different devices ring at the same time, which is also expected. But it seems that Vida video call does not really like that and the call disconnected in the middle of the call. Multiple devices are sometimes useful and needed in many scenarios(eg., iPhone screen is small for video chatting, but portable when I am not home using it, etc.)
Hope Vida developer can make some improvement on that to allow multiple devices use it at the same time.

Forced video interaction with coaches?

My company offers free access to this app as part of our benefits. I was interested to see what it could offer me, but as I was going through the initial setup, I reached a point where I had to choose from two options: weekly live video chats with a coach, or a group option which also appeared to require an initial video call with a coach. I don’t know if there would be subsequent forced interactions with the coach or group. (And I’ve read some things about the groups that make me want to avoid that option.)

As someone who is not neurotypical, I have severe anxiety around certain things, in particular “calls” - especially with strangers - and video calls? Even worse - I would like options that do not include that kind of interaction.

People who have disabilities or mental health/neurodivergent things should be able to access the same resources as everyone else, without being forced into interactions that make them uncomfortable.

If there were an option for text chat only with a coach, I probably would have continued with the setup.

Hi there, thanks for your review and for voicing your concerns. While the ideal experience does involve video calls with your coach, if that’s not the right experience for you there are options to skip the initial consult. You can let your coach know via Chat or reach out to support@vida.com so that we can assist. We’re happy to meet you where you’re at to help you achieve your health goals!
