Description of Tunity

TUNITY allows you to hear any live muted TV. You simply scan the TV with the camera in the app, and let Tunity do its magic: identify the channel and the exact timing of what you’re watching, and streams the synchronized audio to your headphones or bluetooth speaker. With the new Quick Tune feature, channels you (or anyone else in that venue) listened to are automatically saved in Quick Tune, so you can listen to it simply by choosing the channel from the Quick Tune list, without the need to rescan! Where Should I Use Tunity? To put it simply—ANYWHERE! At bars, restaurants, gyms, airports, hotels and anywhere else where there are muted TVs. If you are a venue owner, Tunity is the perfect audio solution for your venue, with no hardware installation required. Go to www.Tunity.com to learn how you can become a Tuntiy partner venue. Please note Tunity only supports live TV and doesn’t support online content like YouTube, streaming services, etc. For live TV, however, it works like magic. Don't just take our word for it: Ryan Hoover - Founder, Product Hunt: "Really clever. This would be a great companion at the gym to listen to muted TV's in front of rows of elliptical machines" CNET: "Tunity streams TV audio to your smartphone…and it's darn cool…the app has the potential to be a huge hit" Touch Arcade: "Tunity feels like magic- Particularly when paired with AirPods, and you seriously just have to try it."

  • Not just for muted TV

Tunity says watch muted TV programming, but it should say for any TV broadcast whether muted or not. I’ve used Tunity in airports before but had not used it anywhere else. Recently, my father was in the hospital and I used Tunity to listen and watch the Army-Navy football game without disturbing him while he slept. Similarly, with a set of noise canceling headphones or earbuds, you could listen to a broadcast in a loud environment such as a sports bar.

The only issue I have is that the app sometimes extends beyond the screen or boxes overlap. I tried to complete the occasional survey question (to support the advertising that keeps the free version operating) but couldn’t get to the submit box on my iPhone SE.

  • Real essential at the bar!!

During the weekend, I went into my favorite chicken wing place as usual. The numerous TV screens were muted, and only soft background music was playing in the bar. I turned on the Tunity app on my iPhone to listen to the commentary of the live broadcast that was being shown on one of the TVs. My friend's eyes widened in amazement, and It was such a delightful experience to have my shoulders shrug with joy after a long time. Now, both my friend and I always go to the bar with our Tunity apps turned on. This app is truly fantastic and an absolute essential at the bar!

  • Welcome back

I used it all the time and a year or so ago the app just stopped working and all I got was an error message. I never took the app off my phone and just recently discovered it is back and working. There’s an obvious delay between the TV and the app, and a little bit of periodic sound crackling, that keeps me from giving a full five star rating. But otherwise, I’m glad to see it back up and running!
