  • As an AUM user… this is what I needed

This app has allowed me to make full pieces of music in AUM. Until LK I would jam with a single idea. Now I can jam with all of my ideas. The in app purchases all add something, they give you control and they inspire new ideas.
Now I can enter chords and melodies, create structured sequences or trigger clips on the fly. I can use the midi controller and XY pad to control my synths and fx.
All of it can be recorded or improvised every time. It’s incredible and the developers listen and respond.
Because of this I had to try BAM from the same developer, it is also marvellous. Top, top app.

Thanks for your amazing review. Best regards
  • It has been great….

This app has been immaculate for a variety of jobs I’ve been using it for.
Have recently been really struggling with connecting wirelessly to trigger sounds.

Worked flawlessly moving to Ab12, haven’t changed my laptop or tablet. Just stopped working….

  • Great but record enable is exclusive?

I think this app is amazing. Really reliable and flexible. You can totally fine the granular thing as well as the macro. It’s a fantastic app and I’d easily give it 5 stars if it weren’t for one thing. Record enable is in exclusive mode in Ableton 12 at least. When I record enable a track it disables the others, it that’s something that can be changed it’s a very easy 5 stars!

You can remove the exclusive mode if you arm a track while holding the shift button. You can also double tap shift to enable/disable it. The same behaviour applies to track solo. Thank you very much for your review!
  • Good so far — please improve fader smoothness!

LK as an iPad controller for Ableton Live is superb. The two-way control script works well and USB connection through UBRIDGE has been solid after I got over the initial setup (I found that some USB ports on my Windows computer would drop the connection to my iPad and so I had to try a few different ones). The big mark I have against LK right now is that, at least in Live mode, all of the faders and pots feel too choppy! It’s almost like the controls have less than the standard 7 bits of resolution, though I know this to be false since I can scroll through all 128 values of a macro if I move a control very slowly. But when moving a control with some speed, you get audible stepping when doing certain volume fades or filter sweeps, which is a shame. Controls in TouchOSC for example don’t suffer from this nearly as much. If fader smoothness improves in the future, LK will be a formidable live/DJ tool and get an instant five stars from me for the Matrix alone (plus bonus points if 14 bit control is added!). Some other suggestions: - support double tapping a control to reset to default value in Controller; - add a preference for “relative” fader controls a la TouchOSC, to prevent instantaneous parameter jumps; - on Windows, add a built-in virtual MIDI port to UBRIDGE to remove the need for a third-party MIDI routing app (the TouchOSC desktop app does this for example). Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for your review and for your well thought suggestions. The most recent beta version of LK already has relative fader controls, so you can expect that feature to be available once the new version comes out. I'll add the other quests to LK list for future discussion. Thank you once again!
  • Seemed promising, but too many bugs

Bought this in hopes of using it as a mixer control surface. Was able to map faders and pan knobs, but nothing else worked. In fact, no matter which yellow button or pad I attempted to map to toggle on and off the speaker or toggle mute all it did was flip the 8th channel strip's pan knob. Every. Single. Time. Such a strange bug. For $8, I gave up after 15 minutes. A shame, because it was working great other than that. But if I can't map half the buttons, or type in the track names, or change track colors, its really not worth it to me. Right not the screen is more confusing than not with all tracks looking the same and no labels.

  • Sick of the spam

Whilst working, why am I getting spam for your other elements to this product? I’ve paid for this. Stop spamming!!

Hi, any purchased LK module does not display any pop-ups while in use. If you switch to a module which has not been purchased, the demo/trial pop-up will periodically appear. If you are having issues try opening LK menu > Store > restore purchases. If you would like to talk to us about this, please get in touch via our website, thanks!
  • Did I get a beta version?

As a midi guitar player I wanted an app that I could launch clips with easily during a live performance and LK is potentially perfect for that. However, I do see some issues that need fixing. 1-documentation does not reflect some of the newer features 2-the app seems to get stuck when you rotate the iPad device (change orientation) 3-in clip actions, the midi note and volume values go from 0 to 126 rather than 127 (assuming a 0-based index). So altogether, although the software is great, these issues have to be fixed before I can trust this app in live performances. Fix these issues please and I’ll change my rating.

Hi there, thanks for your review and feedback. All beta versions are accessed via Apple Testflight app, which is an opt-in/invite only system. We regularly release app updates and admit that our documentation is not quite up to date with all the latest new changes and additions.
  • Holding Judgement

I have just purchased this app. And so far getting used to it’s particular way of working. So far, the clip renaming tool does not work for me. I click on it and no input keyboard is active internally or externally. Also the app has crashed (though it did bring back a recovery state when I relaunched in AUM.) But just felt like it couldn’t cope with 5 simple tracks? I am still evaluating but have been forced to buy the app because the activation prompt deliberately gets in the way far too much when you are actually trying to evaluate before purchase.
If the developer can advise me on why I can not rename clips and the any tips on the glitchy timing I’m getting that would be great. running on new IPad Air 5.
Thanks, I will happily update my review as appropriate.

Hi there, thanks for your review and feedback. LK should easily be able to handle more than 5 simple tracks. Clip renaming is working on our test devices: long press a clip, select 'Clip properties' and then tap into the clip name text field and the on screen keyboard should appear - if not, please reach out to us via our website for further investigation and support, thanks!
  • The best MIDI Piano and Drum Pads for Ableton Live 11

Great app! The functionality is exactly what I was looking for to use as a mobile midi keyboard for both piano and drum pads in Ableton Live 11. The chorder function is awesome as well. I like the pricing and how you can purchase the separate parts as you need. The interface is great and easy to use, 5 starts all around.

  • The recent updates of this app are so good

With this app I can control all kinds of things in Ableton on desktop. The really cool thing though, is this app and its recent updates had made it a must buy for working in iOS. The matrix mode is hot and being able to launch midi clips in an ableton session like view and have it generate melodic ideas and stay in scale etc is fire. Had this for years and never wrote a review, with the new updates I had to. Looking forward to how far you guys can take this!
