I was really excited about this app and downloaded it a few days ago to use with Live. My phone started to get really hot when I wasn’t using it and battery would die after a couple hours. I have a brand new iPhone X so I was thinking there is something wrong with it. I realized that the app was taking 70% of my battery. There should probably be a warning message when you download it or open the app letting you know you have to force quit it, but also, it seems like this is major flaw that should be addressed. I understand this app takes a lot of processing power but no app should take 70% of battery power when it’s running especially in the background.Show lessForrestdwlr

I downloaded this app a few months ago and have been busy, so I have not used it really at all. For the past week, my battery had been draining rapidly - going from 100% to 40% in less than 3 hours without me even using my phone. I contacted Apple Support and they told me to check the Battery Usage in settings. I was shocked to find out that LK was eating up 76% of my battery in the past 24 hours - and I hadn’t even used the app!!! I have deleted the app since that discovery and my battery has gone back to normal. I am very displeased with what happened.Show lessYoung Metroo
Like app major battery issue
I like the app but had to remove from phone because battery usage said it was taking 74% according to battery use age screen under settings on my iPhone 7. But haven’t used this app on phone in months. Also haven’t let run in background. I usually use on iPad. The latest OSX11.1.2 is already using too much battery. Going to need to fix.Show lessJon_MFD
Absolutely Incredible
This app is magnificent. I am currently without any music-making hardware, so the MIDI keyboard and pads features are a godsend. The latency isn’t great over WiFi but with a simple usb connection from your iPhone/iPad to your computer it works beautifully. All the features of this app are amazing and I’m stoked to start working with it. I have a small iPhone so I might have to get an iPad just for this! The potential applications for live performance are already getting me excited. Perhaps the best part is the fact that you can pay for only the features you need, so you’re not buying a $20 app with a bunch of unnecessary stuff, depending on what you’re trying to do with it. In the last 7.5hrs, this app (which I did not even know was running in the background) ate 82% of my battery.
My phone was physically warm when I picked it up so whatever infinite loop you’ve got running in here is CPU intensive either that or you’re polling the network constantly.
In all my years as a developer, I don’t think I’ve ever seen programming this bad. If our grads pushed a patch that ate power like this, they could look forward to buying everyone a round that Friday nightShow lessSullivanStreet

Hi. Thanks for this feedback. We need to add a setting that allows/disallows background activity. Since LK is supposed to work in background, controlling other midi apps or devices, by default this is enabled. Why is consuming so much battery? Because the timing mechanism relies on the audio thread so, while it is running is squeezing the most out of your device just like a synth would do. We will add audio features to LK in the future but right now it doesn't have any audio being produce. I will add a todo for the missing background activity option. Right now the only way of ensuring it doesn't suck you battery is by explicitly closing it. It seems that we need to pay you a round! :) Best regards!Battery usage high under iOS 11
Had no problems until I upgraded to iOS 11. Then on iPad Pro 12, app went to 53% battery usage over 24 hours, without even having been opened.D63B

So far I'm very impressed. I've only been tinkering with it for barely an hour, and it does way more than I was expecting: a lot more remote control over Live than I'd hoped for.
The setup was super simple and the walk through was easy to follow.
I'm just playing with it on my my iPhone, the smallest version mind you, and it's really fun and pretty cool so far.Show lessSirius Joker
