  • Good update that removes essential headlight switch

You used to be able to toggle your headlight's brightness and/or turn it off while riding, but the new interface that comes with the recent update only allows you to do so when traveling at 3 mph or less. This creates a number of situational problems, such as when you need to turn off your headlight quickly and when you need to adjust brightness during a ride. Please create a fix that re-enables riders to access headlight settings while riding, and not just at 3 mph or less.

  • App was better before last month’s update.

I like seeing what mode I’m in while riding (redwood, pacific x, elevated etc…) I’m a pint X owner and too many times since the updates I’ve had the mode switch from pacific x to redwood while I have the app open and putting it into my pocket without locking my screen. I do this so I can pull out my phone while riding to quickly glance at my battery percentage and speed. What’s been happening is it switches modes as I’m putting my phone in my pocket and I don’t realize it until I’m riding and I receive severe pushback. Having even small text letting you know what mode you’re in without having to stop your ride and get off wait for the screen to change to be able to check the mode.

  • It forces me to always share my location

The app used to be good, but now it keeps showing a dialog saying that I should always share my location with it.
  • Locked out

Locked in warning video for buzz- can’t seem to get back to the basic app functions.
  • Forced updates

It’s a bit stupid that if I need to change my riding mode or check the battery and there is an update I can’t use the app at all

Edit: Writing a second review. This still happen for firmware updates. Plus the firmware update warns that it might make the board unusable. And still Im forced to do it and cannot use the app..

    I’m going VESC..

  • Not impressed with the new update

After being forced to update, my board app details are all in imperial and I can go back to metric. Being in Canada, this isn’t ideal. Also I can no longer see my battery voltage in the app.
  • Forced update ruined the experience

The update in the fall changed how the board performs. The board just beeps at me anytime I do anything. I am an experienced rider of +3 years. I should be able to ride how I want and assume my own risk instead of a compromised experience because a few users used your product unsafely.

It should be illegal to alter a product multiple years into the purchase. I will not buy anything from this company until they reverse this update. Trust is lost.

  • Love & Hate

Like most Onewheel users I love the device and dislike the company.
The app is trying to force me to update my board and probably brick it in the process. This is my DAMN board, I paid you two and a half thousand pounds for it so how dare you try and force my to put it in harms way by updating it with your half baked update. I’m so sick of you guys.
    Bring on the FloatWheel.

  • I don’t want to update the app so FM locked me out

The app has now become unusable and cannot access any data about my board while I ride unless I update the app. This forceful nature is exactly why I don’t want to update. This company would turn my board into a brick to turn a profit. Once I figure out how to report this further with Apple the the FCC I’m going to. This company is wack. I just want my speed and battery levels shown, not forced to be on whatever version they want me on. FFM.

And to be fair I love the onewheel but I nearly despise everything the company behind it stands for. Updates continue to block 3rd party mods and limiting all potential of the board itself. I paid two grand for this board, I should have the right to have it serviced or repaired as I please. Especially after the warranty period has ended. Please be more like all other action sports and embrace peoples preferences and adaptability with their boards and the products that are developed with them. Instead of making it harder for people to use their wheels you could work with the industry to create something that people are excited to spread the stoke about.

  • Force to update

Updates that change functionality of a purchased device should be OPTIONAL. I have every right to use MY device in the condition I bought it in and not loose the ability to use an app based on not updating.
