Impossible

Bought books, ASCI CC card and the apps prior to current trip to France and subsequently spent 2 hours trying to find and book a campsite. Books and phone are the only way we’ve managed to use ASCI and then didn’t get the expected ASCI camping card discount that we spent c. £30 on for membership Sept-Dec 2024. The apps are temperamental and infuriating and so far a total waste of time and not as user friendly as some much cheaper alternatives.

Confusing

My confusion is backed up by others on FB. I have this App and as far as I can tell have signed up for all the fees, but it only shows 95 sites in Northern Italy. I have the CC App that shows campsites and I have the digital card. I simply can’t work out what this App does.

Does not cater for first timers or infrequent travellers

Given the number of negative reviews it is surprising this app does not have a facility for potential users to view details of sites on offer. Also as someone who is only likely to travel once or twice a year I feel it is short sited to make subscriptions renew automatically; it would be better to allow users the option to set up repeat subscription once they are members and have judged the usefulness.5

Update:

Since my original post I have have moved to Switzerland where I have been able to log back into my account and recover all the previously downloaded data. Why this wouldn’t work on a French campsite with reasonable wifi I don’t know. The App is now working as advertised. I have increased the stars to 3, but I am not convinced there is much to gain having the app over having the books and card. The books and card are easy to use. I have used the email request form in the App a couple of times which has worked.

Poor

Having traveled to Western Europe and the Balkans I believed this App would be great - I purchased the book and app but online continues to show I need to register and download the app . I did this at home and believed I was OK, I have since paid again for the app and access to online information but it goes round in circles saying I need to purchase the app even though I have an account - not a good experience, wasting more time and money. So far I wouldn’t recommend it as I haven’t found anything that isn’t already available free on other free apps.

They need to learn how to create a usable app!

What a terrible user experience! I’ve already purchased the camping card discount product AND their club ID card. I don’t know why because their guide books are a nightmare to navigate and the ID isn’t accepted by many sites I have used - even when their office notices say it is.

The fact you have to pay extra if you want to use their their on-line apps is robbery. I’m tempted to call their business model a scam but really profiteering describes them more adequately.

I was going to use their three apps to ensure I had full options available but not when I have to pay for three sets of map/sites data (one set for each of their apps). Simply not good enough! Further, why do the apps ‘insist’ on using Apple Pay? Had to use a different on-line route to use my foreign currency card!

Their process is so difficult to navigate I began to despair and thought I had wasted my money.

My view is DO NOT use this organisation, use CamperContact or Park4Night instead.

Just look at the poor reviews and you will see it is not just me who seems to be having issues.

I won’t be giving them my money next year.

Customer service slow

2nd year of membership and they have changed the app and I now can’t access it. Customer service slow to non existent. All I want to be able to do is access the app for which I have paid. Seriously unimpressed now and have just downloaded ‘search for sites’ on the advice of others If someone from ACSI cares to proactively contact me and resolve the issues I am experiencing then that may help change my opinion!

In response to the comment back from ACSI, If it was that “obvious” then why is social media full of people equally confused ?? Go onto some of the camping Facebook groups and read some of the problems people are having. I am not alone.
If you can’t find any then let me know I’d be happy to add some screenshots to my review.

Terrible in every aspect

I have spent several hours trying to sort out an order for this app. They changed my password, it looked as if it had worked. Go to next screen and start again.

Eventually rand Customer DisService FOUR times and got no response, just adverts. Got through, advisor changed password, put everything into basket, then said “Oh you can’t buy those at the same time, don’t know why”. So back to Stage 1.

Next time got the checkout, he logged off and there is no payment option.

Tried phone line again, he could not hear me, three times each time with adverts NOTE TO OTHERS -avoid using Helpline as it doesn’t.

I am at the end and am on the point of giving up. The calls are costing us more than the reductions so ACSI may be bye-bye for me.

One of the most gruesome access and authentication layer’s EVER

Absolutely hopeless. The app itself is of some use but the multiple identities that ACSI seems to delight in, one for the web shop, one for the CampingCard ACSI app, and the conflicts between the website and the app means that you can spend money on add ons and apps which you can not then easily access. Especially if you use secure password generators. Driven back to using the same simple and easily guessable password across all their iterations. One is tempted to use Tossers but I didn’t.
