Amcrest View Pro for iPad User Reviews

Totally useless

Pretty sure they paid $1 to have somebody put the Amcrest name on this.
Both iPad and iPhone versions do not get past screen 1.
If this were assignment 1 in programming class 1, it would still get a worst possible grade.

Good Cameras, Bad Software

Amcrest’s cameras seem to be pretty good, but their software is pretty bad. Hard to figure out and buggy as all get-out. Lately the problem has been frequent Out of Memory errors. You have to kill the app and try again and hope that it doesn’t crash too fast.

Doesn’t work with new Amcrest 30fps 4K POE Camera

This app used to work perfectly before I got my new Amcrest 30fps bullet camera. Now images freeze on the screen as they go by and the screen doesn’t refresh or remove them so they become stuck in the middle of the screen. I am however able to view the older cameras and even the 4K 15fps cameras just fine. If I use the app for the iPhone on my iPad I do not have this issue. This seems to be only an issue with the iPad version.

Stops working after a few hours

Not able to use an IPad as a monitoring solution because the cameras "run out of memory" and close on the app every few hours... not an issue on Windows. Looks like the developer has abandoned this app as well.

Playback don’t work

Playback function don’t work. When you select the time firme it stays on the year 1969.

Crapware!

This app is so horribly designed I don’t even know where to start. It’s really a shame because Amcrest’s 4K camera hardware is pretty good. But without a proper iOS UX, all of that goes to waste. None of this UI makes any sense. The icons are largely inappropriate for standard functions. Standard iOS controls are not used properly. There are misspellings and bad grammar throughout. If you run this app on multiple devices, you have to reconfigure everything. Important concepts are not explained, like how to get rid of that stupid “IPC” text overlaid on your feeds. And perhaps worst of all: It is impossible to get live views displayed at the proper native 16:9 aspect ratio. Scaling and stretching images without providing that as an option is absolutely insulting. All in all, Amcrest needs to fire this Amateur Hour app development team.

Works ok, needs features:

Needs a way to new camera setup to another iOS device; use QR codes? Tedious to set up my iPad, wife’s iPad, etc.

Needs shortcuts integration!

Not intuitive + lacks a lot of functions

The buttons are all over, you have to figure out which one to push. There is no hierarchical layout of menu items. There is no (or at least I haven’t figured it out) function to manage the recordings in the SD card (format, delete, mass delete, download, etc.). It always open with a blank screen and you always have to select a device you previously added.

Worked, then stopped.

Login timed out. All my other computers and devices can login to the camera just fine. But this app is broken.

Doesn’t launch with iPadOS 13.2

Doesn’t launch with iPadOS 13.2 - not sure it will be fixed when officially launched, by either Apple or Amcrest
