  • Me

23andMe is amazing! An email came through this morning with my results and I’ve spent the last three hours going through the many bits and pieces. My DNA revealed. The app was very helpful and easy to navigate. I have relatives. I didn’t even know I had. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who knows or doesn’t know about their family history. We’ve all been told family stories, but DNA is much more solid than that. I come from poverty and the foster care system, which had disconnected me from blood related family members. 23andMe has managed to give me comfort about who I am, my health, where I come from, and who I am DNA family matched. That’s a gift of a lifetime. Thank you 23andMe. I intend to have my adult children do 23andMe for their understanding of who they are genetically. I would also highly recommend this for all foster youth who have no idea about their family history and health.

  • Thank you 23&Me I found half siblings

I was curious to see if I had any distant relatives on my father’s side of the family. I had always been told I was my father’s only child and have never met any of his relatives. So I decided to see if I could find some family through 23 and me. I found not only cousins but also found five half siblings but most importantly I found out who my real father was. So the man I was told to believe that was my father and who passed away when I was 10 months old and who I have mourned for 63 years was not my dad. Unfortunately, the man who is my dad passed 5 years ago. I wish I had found him a lot earlier in my life. I also found out that my father is Palestinian. I am Hispanic! So now I am trying to peace together why my mother who was only 16 when she had me didn’t tell me about the possibility of me having a different father. According to my half siblings, my biological father never knew I existed but the resemblance speaks volumes about me being his daughter! ❤️🙏🏼

  • My wish

I am thoroughly enjoying my 23 and me subscription. My only wish is that there were a way for adopted adults like myself to have an ancestral tree for my adopted family AS WELL AS my biological family. As I get older…. I am no 62…. I am FINALLY finding out people within my biological family. While I already KNOW much about the family who adopted me…. This has given me such incredible insight into my own past…. I’ve learned much about their genetics that through and who I am actually “ linked” too! This is also great information for my sons and their future children! All my life when greeted by any medical staff with important questions about my genetics I’ve had to say that I was adopted and had ZERO IDEA about such things as familial cancer, heart disease, diabetes…..etc. You would be doing such a huge service to help all of us who may be finding later in life about our family genetics…. Every time I find another piece of information to my own past it’s truly a gift and such an exciting moment! I’ll always love and cherish my adopted family who have been so truly amazing my entire life…. But EVERY adopted child deserves to know where they came from!
