Problematic for offline courses
However, there are serious issues if you don’t have an ever present internet connection. I downloaded courses to be able to use Udemy while flying. The app requires constant logins through a janky interface that kicks you back and forth between authentication, login pages, and so on. So just getting logged in is problematic. Then, once you’ve made it, if you login right before losing your internet connection, it may last and you can resume your course - for a while. But wait too long or use too many other apps, and you’ll find that Udemy has randomly decided it’s time for you to reauthenticate. Middle of a video? Sorry, you’ll now be waiting till you can reconnect.
I contacted support about the issue and was told this was by design. That’s nuts, and it defeats the point of downloading a course for offline use. If it was an occasional login, sure, maybe I could buy off on it. But it’s frequent and makes it such a hassle to use Udemy that I’ve started to look at other options, like LinkedIn Learning.
Unfortunately, until the login issues are fixed, this one gets a low rating from me.
