Maps usable offline
Great to be able to see the maps offline. Huge help.
Great interface and app, needs better search and CarPlay support
I've been using Here We Go for a while and I'm impressed! It includes a user-friendly interface that’s simple but robust, distinguishing itself from other cluttered apps.
While the overall search experience is good, a couple of enhancements would be beneficial. Firstly, predictive search needs improvement, often requiring the full name to be typed compared to other apps. This could significantly expedite navigation, especially when you need to quickly change your destination en route. Secondly, prioritizing voice search is essential for a quicker and safer experience while on the road.
Another issue is the Apple car play integration. It’s very basic, maps don’t look as good as they do in the mobile app, they’re not 3D, search is limited, no voice integration, it’s very barebones. I really hope they do get CarPlay up to par. The mobile app is amazing and it would look even better on CarPlay.

Thanks for your feedback! We're currently working on a number of CarPlay improvements and hope to be introducing them shortly. Stay tuned!
Updating is a pain
Offline maps are awesome and generally everything is quite good apart from when you have to update maps.
Updates are cumbersome, its slow and you have to keep your phone on the update screen while its updating otherwise it doesn’t update.
So if you want to update your maps and do other things with your phone, you cannot because if you leave the update screen the update pauses and in some cases starts over again.

Thank you for the feedback! We hope to improve the map download feature in iOS devices.
Excellent!
BIG TIP !
It’s crazy but if you want to change audio settings, you may have to do this WHILE THE APP IS SPEAKING !
E.g. in Voice Options, tap “Play test sound” then - before it finishes speaking - make your change.
E.g. Use the device button to set the sound level to zero. Now, tap on “Play test sound” and VERY quickly use the device button to raise the sound level to max. Repeating this can produce very loud spoken directions. (Only tested on iPhone and iPad)
EDIT: Another thing, which I find super useful is that I can paste in decimal coordinates, copied from my various map apps. (Needs to be numerical basic format)
EDIT: I made a mistake below. I can’t use Irish voice. I use Serena UK voice instead.
EDIT: I’ve only just noticed that selecting bicycle mode shows a gradient chart. Nice one! An AirPod in one ear and I get cycling voice guidance with the screen off.
I’ve been using this for years. It was reincarnated recently which caused a few hiccups but has steadily improved. I have a lovely Irish female voice (Moira) directing me and, because I’m a bit dozy, she says “LEFT LEFT” etc like you hear on the police videos!
The app works really well for me, warns me of speed cameras and tells me if I am inadvertently exceeding the speed limit. I’m looking forward to it using Siri Shortcuts. I’ve no incentive to spend £££ updating my car’s built in satnav when I can get regular Here updates for free. Presently on an iPhone 13 mini and iPad Air Gen.5

Lane guidance better than Waze and Google Maps
I really like this app. Driving around in very complex city road like Kuala Lumpur, London and others really does well than Waze. Traffic too seems to be more accurate and knowing that I can navigation without internet that’s kind of down memory lane with Tomtom / Garmin.. it’s point of interest too is multicolour to show different things. Voice is an issue if I want to make this as a default in my car navigator. Please improve your voice navigation please than using text to speech hence why 4*.

We Go from Here We Go!
I have been using this app since it was released as it was one of the few free offline gps apps. It has kept up with most paid apps. One important request is for the developers to reinstate landscape mode for navigation which has suddenly disappeared within the previous few updates.
Vanished from Carplay
The app doesn’t shows up on carplay even option remains on
Response from developer
Hi there, the app should be available again in CarPlay with the latest update. Please make sure you have updated the app and let us know if there are further issues.
Getting better
Finding it better to use in Australia now. Liking it however connecting with car audio the volume for directions is very low and often the directions cut out mid sentence
I like this app as a backup to my Garmin
I was looking for a backup to my dedicated Garmin satnav. First tried Apple Maps but it won’t display your current speed when driving neither will it add an intermediate point (or via) on route - only offerings to show a selection of nearby petrol stations, cafes, shops etc. Google maps also won’t display current car’s speed and also overloads me with too many points of interest on the map when I am driving. I just want clear navigation instructions and not every business that has paid for an advert on Google! Plus Google’s latest colour change used in its maps (2023) is awful for driving as minor roads are nearly the same colour as the background in rural areas. Why don’t they simply use the national road colour? In UK that is blue for motorway and green for A roads. Simple, clear, and understood by all drivers in the country.
The above apps may be fine for planning a trip offline, but Here We Go wins out hands down when actually driving and trying to navigate a route.
So I find I am using it more and more.
