  • Good tool that could be better

I've been using Jack Daniels' running formula for training for about 6 months. So I refer to Vdot almost daily.

However, this app would be much more useful if it remembers your last race settings. I don't want to remember my most recent race results, and enter it each time I want to verify training paces.

I guess I will continue to keep a tab open in Safari with my current race information. It's a shame because the app is actually easier to use except for that'd or detail.

I'd recommend using our VDOT Calendar if you are using the calculator regularly. You can find this free app by viewing our other products.
  • Good app from Jack Daniels

Really happy to see this out for iOS now. Very useful for when you are on the go and need to remind yourself of your training paces or if you are coaching others and want to help them find theirs. I have always appreciated the research done by Jack Daniels and I am happy he is finding ways to share that info through new technological ways.
Improvements I would like to see: A way to input your VDOT score and get your training times. I often have mine memorized and its easier to just plug it in then to put in my most recent race. This feature on the website would be great too. I would also like to be able to type in the times rather than using the scroll feature in the app. If possible, having just the number keypad pop up to use for typing would be the most efficient way to do it.

We made this update in our most recent update so you can use the keypad. Also included the ability to enter by VDOT.
  • Know your true ability

Downloads & boots up fast, simple to use and understand. I use Dr. Jack Daniels' VDOT calculator on my iMac, so it's nice to now have an iPhone App that can tell you exactly where you are in terms of current running ability & more importantly your target running pace for your different workouts from easy endurance runs to fast race pace repetitions & VO2 Max intervals. Love it!

  • Very useful calculator

If you want to know exactly how hard you should be running in your various workouts, not just percentage ranges of Max HR or equivalent, you need this app! Remember to enter new race times as you run them so your training paces get updated accordingly.
  • Fantastic!

Jack’s formula’s helped me shave 10 minutes off my half marathon time while staying healthy. Love this app!
