Needs HomeKit compatibility
Although the app appears to have secure encryption it does require a WiFi password to be manually entered rather than connecting to WiFi through HomeKit. This would be an outstanding device if it connected through and worked through Apple HomeKit.

App won't refresh data. I am not able to see history for temperature and humidity level.

Good idea poorly executed
After being woken up in the middle of the night by a low battery warning I recalled reading the pitch from Roost and figured this was the answer and planned to install in all 4 of our smoke detectors. As it turned out it was only compatible with one, and since that is located in a music room I received false alarms every time someone was playing or making noise. Seems these can only be effective in quiet areas. Bottom line - this creates more issues than it solves!

Just made 6 Smoke Detectors Smart
I purchased 7 units while Roost was using Kickstarter. Each Smart Battery arrived few days ago. I was able to pair each battery using the App. Out of 6 Roost units I paired only 2 of them I had to pair multiple times. This is potentially related to wifi interference or server issues on Roost end, hard to tell. Trying 2nd or 3rd time worked.
Each Roost can be labeled with the location and address can be specified. Kids wish there was an option to separate the units by address. In case I had more than 1 house, but also to easily select address from the list to updated each Roost quickly. Current setup requires user to type in the address for each battery.
Now time will tell how quickly alert appears after smoke detector makes noise. From current test I performed on each battery alert was almost immediate except for initial battery which had a 2 min delay. Could have been a glitch or just initial setup issues.

So far so good
Battery was a pretty tight fit inside the smoke detector. It almost didn’t fit. Be aware of a very loud setup process. I had my dog next to me during setup when it suddenly started blasting sound from my phone. Totally freaked out my dogs. The app needs a sound warning.
I thought I was deleting an alert from the phone, instead I deleted the entire battery from the setup and had to do the setup again.
I haven’t setup my 2nd battery yet.
