My review

Most times I usually don’t make reviews but this app is perfect. It creates plans for you and doesn’t cost. You will see the premium a few times but you don’t have to pay any money to have it. I also love this app because of how easy it makes me work out I was on track and then one day I quit Adidas training and I gained 3 pounds but when I started again, I easily lost that and you know how ever many workouts you want before you start the app it’ll give you a personalized quiz for free and it’ll give you a plan for free I just wanted to come on here and say I love this app and I definitely recommend it🤭🥱🥱🥱

Response from developer

Hello! On behalf of the whole adidas Runtastic team, we would like to thank you for being part of our adidas fitness community, and we hope you enjoy your future home workouts with the adidas Training app.

Liked the old runtastic apps in addition to this.

This review is 1 star because I had previously purchased a few years ago all of the pro versions of the runtastic apps. I just got a new phone and was hoping like with every other app available to simply download the ones I had previously purchased. However they are not available? Now I need to make more purchases it seems in the new adidas versions in addition to what I already paid or previously. I would be happy to do so if the other apps were available they are good supplements to these workouts but when I set a goal for push-ups or squats or whatever, in the old apps it was great and the program built you up to that goal. I now don’t have access. What a shame, and waste of my money, time, and resources. If adidas runtastic can’t respect that then I don’t see why it would be reasonable to purchase anything on the newer platforms.

Still figuring out the app

First of all, thank you! I had no idea that period cycle workout is a thing, but last cycle it was hitting me hard, I could barely lift a finger (metaphorically) for a workout. Your app and knowledge it provided helped me to relax, recover and not beat myself up. After the “reset” was done I was back and ready to go hard!

Secondly, here’s where 4 stars come in. I set my account to advance training and I keep on getting beginner stuff… hello? Didn’t you ask me what level I want to work out at!

With that said, there’s still a lot to browse and learn in the app. But I can see that most of the available workouts are not gonna replace my current (competitor) app, which doesn’t make me want to pay for another fitness app where I get less of what I’m already getting. (That’s your cue to step it up 🤭).
Love you guys, bye.

Customized workouts!!

I love how I am able to choose a work out plan that suits my needs and goals. Not only does it design a plan based off my weight and height but also my experience with working out and exercise. It also programs a work out schedule based on how many days I want to work and for how long. Each morning my workout routine is different so I know I’m getting a full body, complete workout by the end of the week! I’ve tried other programs but they haven’t been able to meet my needs the way the Addias training app has.

Great app, missing cross-app integration with strava and training

I love the runtastic app series - well designed and work great across all the devices (I use watch for running and iPad for training). However, there are two features I found lacking.

Most of my team at work are runners and they use strava to share their achievements. I like adidas more for its features, but it doesn’t integrate into strava well (I.e. no route map and stats, just overall time and heart rate that my watch report).
Second, I am mainly looking for overall fitness and I’d love to have a cross-app planning enabled (like on what day to do what) without having to look at the adidas training and running separate schedules(and maybe allowing to log non-Adidas class like hiit to complete plans).

I think this is probably a common goal so maybe worth adding a dedicated cross-app plan for?

Good, but broken

I bought this app last year to help me stay in shape during the shutdown. I really like the variety of exercises included, and used it regularly. It could use some fresher content, but for the price it was a fantastic deal.

I say “was” because about a month ago I found I was unable to log into the TV app. The iOS app still worked fine, so I was able to continue using it… sort of. I contacted tech support, and was told: “After a thorough investigation, we have to inform you that our developers won’t be able to fix the problem in the near future.”

I like the app and will keep using it in its hobbled form, but be aware that there’s a potential login issue that the developers don’t plan to fix. Two stars off for that. Buyer beware.

Very very very good app, but beware

I was in the worst shape of my life, and this app was the perfect way to reintroduce me to work out, the free workout plan I was using was fantastic and saw results, and felt better, I could even feel myself getting better at works I did a week prior, but by week 4 of the 6 week plan got out of hand….. I kept pushing myself and found myself not being able to do some of the workouts which became heavily demoralizing and then last week, leading to an injury to my hamstrings, I’m very disappointed and what was once an app that gave me so much confidence has reduced me to a sense of failure that has left me with a sour taste in my mouth

Fails without Working Apple TV App

I think this app is pretty darn good, but it won't work as a training solution for me because the companion Apple TV app doesn't work at all.

For some reason the TV app needs to connect to your phone in order to sync training routines, but no amount of fiddling will get them connected. I have followed everything on the Adidas Runtastic support site and have corresponded with customer support people who do little more than copy and paste what's already on the website. Nothing works.

Someone must've made it work, because there exist screenshots online of a working TV app, but I am giving up and will seek another training program.

Excellent App Overall but needs fine tuning

Overall I find this app to be great and helpful with my regular running. Several weeks ago I started the half marathon training plan which has really helped inspire me and motivate me and keep me accountable to achieving my goal.

I would like to see some improvements, however. I would like to see the app keep track of my pace during individual intervals rather than just mile by mile. Also on interval days the music automatic shut off appears to be very wonky necessitating that I hold my phone to stop and restart music with each interval. I’ve also noticed that on some interval days there is absolutely no voice prompts to end and start individual intervals.

Dynamic Suggested Pace for plans/Adidas train and run hybrid PLEASE!!

Love the app, ran 350 mile and lost 50lbs over 365 days in 2020. This app helped me reach my fitness goals for 2020 and I don’t plan on stopping in 2021. I used Adidas Train and Run before it was retired a few years back. Please use that model with the modern design and this will be a for sure 5star app.

Currently it’s a weak 4 star app and that is due to the lack of a personal feel. For instance, if I modify the interval paces manually to match my fitness level you know something like “normal” effort pace of 10-11 miles min, when I start the shape up plan the “suggested” pace for a slow run “suggest” 8:35 min/mile as a slow pace (blank face).. so the suggested pace is not reflected in what I manually adjusted in the interval pace selector. Adidas train and run did that. Why not runtastic take some features for the old and add to current? I will tell you I bet all the users will be extremely satisfied with that additional functionality and personal feel.

But all in all this is a good app none the less. Please keep making useful changes and I’m a user for the rest of this apps life span.

Weak MiCoach/Train & Run replacement

The greatest disappointment here is the complete lack of real heart rate-based training support and programs. Sure, you can use an HRM, but there is no zone coaching or capability to build your own heart-rate-based workouts. This app is really much more of a social media app than a genuine, fitness focused app such as Polar Flow, or Garmin Connect.

While the running-centric focus is understandable given Adidas’ product profile, it’s just sad to see the woeful content of the Runtastic app, as compared to the amazing capabilities of MiCoach (later Train & Run) that were so user friendly - and worked.

Perhaps someday Adidas will bring some of the Train & Run capabilities back in the Runtastic/Adidas Training app. I hope so...

Love this app!

I’ve spent years trying to find a workout app that I look forward to using. After each workout it asks you whether the workout was too easy, tough (in a good way), or too hard. It then used this info to modify the upcoming workouts in whatever plan you’re using. The workouts are easy to do at home and without equipment. The plans are formatted to fit your skill level and gradually get harder. Apart from a few glitches here and there I would absolutely recommend this app. After just a few weeks I already feel stronger and look forward to the next workout!

Great App!

I haven’t even had this app for week and I find it so handy and helpful! I’m so so so glad this app is mainly free and the free parts are just what I was looking for! Since wrestling has ended and the gyms have closed I’ve been trying to find a workout plan without any equipment but I haven’t had any luck with it, and then I stumbled across this app. I love that you can “create” your own workout for a specific body part and that they recommend workouts based on the little quiz you take when first opening the app! I do both the recommended workout which I find to be harder than the designed workout but that’s also probably because I said I wanted to build muscle. My wrestling coach wants me to build muscle but I don’t have any weights at home and I can’t find an HIIT workout that doesn’t have any weights involved or lasts 6 days. Your app has reallyyyyy helped with this so thank you for creating such an amazing, free app!

Hi Reese, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this great review about the adidas Training app. You rock!

Pretty Awesome (updated)

I really like all the exercises it has, the advice you get access to via the links, great opportunities to meet up with a runners’ community and learn about your body. Even though I didn’t have a tracking device that was compatible it was still a good way to get back into health. Don’t do all the reps the person demonstrating are doing, keep your own pace because they’re pros. I highly recommend buying the year pass if you’re gonna be getting back into shape, no waits or fancy equipment needed.

Love the app but one comment

I like to listen to my own music or podcast during the workout and after the last update or 2 updates ago, I was unable to play my own media due to the app pausing my content when the next exercise demonstration would start. I get around this by playing what I want to listen to on a different device but it’s an annoying issue to deal with.

Apple Watch move calories

This is a great app that I’ve been using for workouts and for recording my workout statistics with Apple Watch. However, after each workout, only the exercise minutes are sync’ed with apple’s activity, but not the calories. For example, in the activity app, it shows I burned 240 calories while working out with the Adidas training app, but in my daily movement ring, it only shows 80 calories (mostly likely from other minor activities). It means the calories burned with the Adidas training app do not get recorded by the activity app. Can you please help me look into this? I’d really like my workouts being recognized by my Apple watch and the Apple activity app. Thanks!

The best one I’ve tried

My friend recommended me to try Adidas app. She’s been using it for more than a year and really happy with the results. I have started using this app a few days ago and omg I love it. I’m not super easily motivated and getting bored doing the same workouts over and over again. Here there are so many of them and they are so different that it will definitely take me awhile to get bored or maybe I never will :) Thank you very much Adidas team for such a great app!!!!!!

Well designed app, NOT for BEGINNERS

I use to be a gym-daily kinda person but stopped for years on end. Wanting to get back at it I've used this app now for somewhere around 2 months. This app is GREAT for those who are intermediate to expert level for exercising and have already built up muscles, but for the BEGINNER this app is a no-go. The biggest PROBLEM with this app is that there is almost NO BUILDUP to the “suggested workouts”. You will do relatively tame workouts, that may be three to four different exercises repeated by 3 or 4 sets, but then it goes 0-60 really fast. The next workouts the app will “suggest” will be DRAMATIC in more difficulty. Too the point of causing injury or soreness that’ll cause most beginners to most likely have to stop working out for a few days. Remembering back to some of my fitness instructors from the past they would not recommend this kind of app to a beginner, it advices to go way too hard immediately which is nothing more than a recipe for injury/soreness. Especially to those who have had no experience with some of the exercises. Would be great for an intermediate/expert level person though

This app rocks!

I really like this app. I have yet to purchase anything through it. There are routines or work out plans that cost money but there are also free ones. There is also a community section to connect to others with similar goals. And there are good articles that are food, workout, and health related. I’ve also been using the addidas runtastic app to track my run/jog. I would recommend that app as well!
