About

Advanced Dual N-Back is the working memory protocol from the research, built to be done every day: one visual stream, one audio stream, and a level that follows you. Based on the landmark Jaeggi et al. (2008) study published in PNAS, dual n-back training is one of the few cognitive exercises shown to transfer to real-world fluid intelligence gains. HOW IT WORKS In each session, a sequence of positions and sounds is presented simultaneously. Your task: identify when the current stimulus matches the one from N steps back. As you improve, N increases, keeping you always at the edge of your capacity. FEATURES • Classic Dual N-Back protocol (position + audio) • Adaptive difficulty: N adjusts automatically based on your performance • Detailed session history and progress charts • Customizable session length and number of trials • Daily reminders to keep your training streak • Offline. No internet connection required • Clean, distraction-free interface THE SCIENCE Working memory is the mental workspace your brain uses to hold and manipulate information in real time. Stronger working memory is linked to better reading comprehension, math ability, problem-solving, and resistance to distraction. Unlike passive "brain games," dual n-back actively challenges the core system. You start at 2-back, the level the original study used, after a short tutorial that teaches one stream at a time. Most people aim for 3 to 5 with consistent training.

Letters are spoken as letters. The letter voice said "capital C", "capital K" on every cue; all of them are re-recorded. The square now flashes for half a second, as in Brain Workshop, so a repeat is a fresh flash instead of one long light. And the results card tells you how you did against your last session and your best at that level. A calmer app. The home screen is one column: your protocol, one line of setup, Start, and how you have been doing. The session, tutorial, settings and history share one flat surface and one colour. Also in this update: • Installs that were opening on Dual Audio without choosing it open on Classic Dual again • Home says how long the first session really takes • The results card tells you where your next session starts • The session readout shows how many trials are left • A sharper app icon, edge to edge
