Does not even recognize my devices

I have two units and neither one can connect to the app. Customer service can’t help either - none of the troubleshooting steps worked. It’s hard to justify keeping these expensive purifiers where a basic functionality like this is not working.

Great Air Purifier, Terrible App

The Alen app doesn’t work. I downloaded the app 3 days ago and it constantly drops and disconnects from my iPhone and iPad. I can’t even get it to pair anymore. Not a deal breaker though. I love the machine.

Finally got app to work!

After a few tries to connect to WiFi, I was able to pair my unit. The only negative is the app will show a different color of the sensor than the unit.

Constant logouts and dropped devices make this frustrating

I keep getting logged out randomly, which forces me to sign back in every few days just to control my purifier. On top of that, my devices constantly disconnect from the app — the purifier just drops off and I have to re-add it over and over. When I finally do stay logged in, scheduling is a nightmare. The interface for turning the purifier on or off at specific times is confusing and cumbersome. It should be straightforward, but instead it feels like I need a manual to figure out how to set a simple timer. Fix the stability issues and redesign the scheduling UI — this app shouldn’t be this difficult to use.

App update crashes on start

Edit: Just tried the latest update. Still crashes on open.

I was prompted to update the app this morning. I checked out the dev notes and clicked update. I no longer have a working app. It vanishes on start up. No error. No warning. I see the app start. The logo appears. And woosh! It's gone. No more convenience for me. No more managing my device from mobile. Another unnecessary digital disappointment disguised as an update.

app works

app works well, it’s nice to see the air quality info for each device. it was easy to setup

App no longer works

Updated the app and now as soon as i login it tells me I have been logged out for security purposes. When the app works it’s great but now it’s useless.

Meh App- tries hard but doesn’t make it

Scheduling function would be great if it worked. Filter reminder also doesn’t work. Always shows great filter life even after a year. Pulled the filter and it was caked with dust and dirt.

“Create a ticket” function in the app doesn’t work. Customer service is non existent.

I’d buy more of these machines if the app worked and they supported the product.

Ok when it works properly

They recently fixed a bug preventing history from working so that’s a positive. However scheduling is still hit or miss if it’s going to work or not. Sometimes it changes settings like it’s supposed to, but the next schedule to put it back to “normal” doesn’t work. Sometimes it doesn’t change the settings at all. Without this function working it kind of makes scheduling pointless.

Best air purifiers!!

I have a few other air purifiers, which are good, but one of the most popular other models is much louder — plus it app it’s terrible certainly comparison to this one. The pink noise thing here is real. The units are very easy to onboard and they work extremely well. The app is utterly fantastic. I don’t know why it has such a low rating. It’s very well designed easy to get around and it’s just getting better. If you’re looking for an air purifier look no further. I evaluated a dozen of the top ones and again I have several other brands but this one is by far the best!!

Fix the app

Since the last iOS update the schedule and graph are broken. I love our air purifiers but the app is poorly maintained. Either Alen and/or their developer are asleep at the wheel. It’s not the first time an update has broken features.

Achilles Heel

The biggest issue holding back the Alen air cleaner is the worthless app.

Customer service doesn’t understand the app and can’t help, while the people who we are told are working on the app won’t speak to the users.

The scheduling feature some times works, but just as often doesn’t. In addition when the time changed for daylight savings time, I had to reprogram the scheduled times because the app couldn’t automatically adjust.

The readings on the app are questionable at best, and seem to change as time goes on. If you check the readings, and then check the readings for the same time and date a few days later, the numbers are often different. No one seems to be able to say which readings are the correct numbers.

The most recent OS update broke the graphing function altogether.

Everything is supposed to be fixed with the next app update, even though they didn’t appear to know some of the problems even existed.

And of course that magic update has been promised for months now, with no expected release date in sight.

No graphs

Unfortunately, since the last iOS update, the app no longer shows the history graphs of indoor and outdoor levels. Only the current numbers are given.

Broken Graph

The graph disappeared. How am I supposed to know that it is tracking the air quality if the graph is blank in the app?

Great air filters, but awful app

The air filter devices work great but they will not connect to the app at all. The instructions that you can find online and through the app do not work. Obviously, they are not keeping up with the new operating system systems on the iPhone. Do not expect to connect these at all to the app. If you have these air filters, don’t even bother downloading the app.

Graph

The graph just disappears sometimes. It’s still monitoring the air quality, as far as I can tell, but the graph disappearing is annoying. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling, among other things, but I doesn’t fix the problem

App logs out for “security reasons” all too often

Please consider adding two factor authentication instead of automatically logging the users out every month. It’s really annoying.

Worst app ever

Keep disconnecting. So frustrating.

Actually a Good App

Way too many low star haters. The app has gotten pretty good actually.
