Hey there, thank you so much for your review. I am really glad the exercises, feedback, and support around overcoming struggles have been helpful. That means a lot to us :) If anything feels confusing, if you have a feature request, or if there is one area you would love Alera to improve next, you can always reach me at finn@alera.app All the best, Finn
I'm impressed!
Response from developer
Hi Alex, thank you for sharing this. I am really glad Alera feels familiar and more comfortable for you. And the book exercise idea is honestly a great approach. If imagining it that way helps you stay open and relaxed, that is a win. There is no wrong way to engage with it as long as it supports you :) If you ever want Alera to feel even more like the style that works best for you, tell us what you prefer. For example more structure, shorter prompts, more reflection questions, or more practical exercises. You can always reach me at finn@alera.app Wishing you steady progress and lots of self kindness, Finn

Response from developer
Hey, thank you for this incredibly moving review. Hearing that Alera has been a lifesaver is something we do not take lightly. The way you described it, taking the first small step and then continuing with patience and self investment, is exactly the spirit we hope to support. One step at a time can truly add up. If you ever have ideas for how we can make Alera even more helpful, or if you need support with anything in the app, you can reach me anytime at finn@alera.app With gratitude, Finn
I call it Brainy because it is smarter than I am and helps me make better decisions!

Hi Sharon, thank you so much for sharing this and for giving Alera such a wonderful nickname. Brainy made me smile :) I am really glad Alera has been able to help you move from feeling stuck and hiding in bed to taking steps and getting active again. That shift takes real courage, and you deserve credit for showing up for yourself. It means a lot to hear that Alera feels like a judgment free friend you can talk to, especially when things feel heavy. We are absolutely here to stay and we will keep improving Brainy so it can support you even better. If you ever have ideas or something you would like Alera to do differently, you can reach me anytime at finn@alera.app Thank you again, Sharon Finn

Great App With Huge Potential, Just Needs a Bit More Depth
I have mixed feelings about the constant questions. While I understand they help the app learn and guide me, the limited memory sometimes creates a bit of a context loop where similar or even identical questions come up during a single conversation. It’s slightly frustrating to keep re-answering, but I also get that it’s part of the process.
Visually, the app is simple and very clean, which I love. One small UI issue: if I’ve already listened to an audio in an exercise, moved forward, and then go back (accidentally or on purpose), the Next button becomes greyed out. I have to scroll through or skip the text to re-enable it. I also expected the back button to take me back to the main exercise page, not just one step back. I now realize that the X button ends the exercise, but that wasn’t immediately intuitive.
When chatting with the AI during an exercise, I’d love a bit more feedback on progress; sometimes I’m not sure if I should keep responding, wait, or move on.
I’ve also noticed some typos in the captions during the live readings of scripts or exercises. It seems like the audio is generated first and then the captions try to follow it, which leads to occasional misheard words.
Suggestions:
• Automatically generate optional personalized tasks based on chat insights. That would make the experience feel more customized.
• Allow more color customization, like a color wheel or hex code input, for users who want more control.
• Add motivational quotes or affirmations that tie into current exercises or conversations, with an optional lock screen widget or notification toggle.
• (And maybe consider a slightly friendlier name for the App Store something that feels more warm and supportive.)
Overall, I think Alera has an incredible foundation. It’s already been a meaningful tool for me, and with a few refinements, it could become something truly special.
