Great help. Gets better every day

Nice help to start eating healthier and keep track of what you eat. Feedback gets implemented very fast and bugs were fixed same day.

Read before subscribing, very inaccurate, detailed review

I’ve been using it for about a month and unfortunately subscribed for the year. :/ I really want to love this app, but the accuracy is terrible. I could give many examples, but I just had what I think is a very clear case today which got me to write this. I typed “1 can of Coke Zero” it put 4 calories, 0g protein, 18g carbs, 36g fat. Obviously this is wrong so I clicked “fix it” and it showed an option that said “Coca Cola Zero” and had the correct 0 cal, 0p, 0c, 0f so I think it’s right. Then I see it has 9mg of caffeine listed when it should be 35mg. My point is this app is pretty terrible at the core function and takes way too much babying to get it working properly. The team is responsive when you report things, but it’s always a band aid for the specific issue and you’ll find many more if you continue to use it. I don’t know how their system works but they need to rely on more tool calling and APIs for standard products that shouldn’t ever be wrong like a Coke Zero and use AI only where it can’t find an answer. Just poorly engineered as a whole, you can’t use a probabilistic solution for a deterministic output unless you have many more checks and balances, which clearly Alma doesn’t have unfortunately. Hoping to find a better app, but will continue using this begrudgingly since I paid for it.

Sorry you had such a difficult experience with this. We dug into the Coke Zero issue, fixed it, and emailed you directly. You should never feel trapped in a subscription that is not working for you. Reply to our email and we’ll help you with a refund. Alma 4.0 is coming in the next couple of weeks with major improvements to tracking speed and accuracy.

One star. The core feature works badly, and everything around it breaks weekly, sometimes, daily.

I subscribed for Apple Health sync. It did not work at all for my first week. After I reported it, it started working — badly. Data arrives out of sync and doesn't reconcile. In a nutrition tracker, unreliable data is worse than no data: you don't know to correct what you don't know is wrong.

More than a dozen bug reports in seven days, every one confirmed legitimate by support. AI memory failures. Food logged silently as nothing. Identical foods identified differently between entries. Wrong items logged outright.

And every update fixed something while breaking something else. After one release the keyboard vanished from chat entry after a single message, unrecoverable, in a flow I'd been using heavily the day before. That is not an early product finding its footing — that's regression in production on core paths, week after week.

$99 a year to be an unpaid QA channel. The founder answers personally and extended my trial when I escalated, which I'll credit honestly. Responsiveness isn't reliability.

Know what you’re typing into. This is an AI product built around a chat assistant, and it prompts for health details — hydration, digestion, MEDICATIONS, GLP-1 use — as advertised features. Per their own terms, support personnel can access user data. Worth noting: bug reports here are capped at 500 characters, and mine were resolved without anyone ever asking me a follow-up question or for steps to reproduce. Draw your own conclusion about how much of your session they’re looking at, and read the terms before you enter anything sensitive.

Kemer, you joined during a major release and hit an unusually concentrated set of bugs. We have since fixed the issues you formally submitted and tightened our release process. We investigated your reports using the information you submitted and the limited account context described in our terms. We take privacy seriously, answered your questions directly, and provided the information you requested privately. The product experience you described was poor. The suggestion of undisclosed access is not an accurate description of how those reports were handled.

Worth giving it a try

I was searching for a long time for an app to accurately calculate my food intake using just voice or a photo. I was literally about to create my own system or even an app like Alma :) until I discovered this amazing app.

Finally found it nutrition app that I’d like

I found Alma that pure chance. I’ve been using a lot of nutrition apps over the last couple of years. Try to find one that I like. What I really liked about Alma was the fact that it can connect to clot AI. That was a game changer for me. Now, at the end of the day, I got Claude and get all my information. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a nutrition app.

Jen

Love the support team and the tracking. It feels different and friendlier than any other tracking app

Membership

Great app but Changing to a full paid membership with no announcement made me stop using it and switch apps.

Proactive Team

They were proactive from the start, kept me informed throughout the entire process, and maintained complete transparency with my incident until it was fully resolved. I really appreciated their communication, professionalism, and commitment to making sure the issue was addressed. Excellent customer support

Excellent Nutrition Coach App

I have tried many nutrition apps out there and this is by far the best one out there. A great combination of AI insights and extremely simple logging. Plus the integration with AI tools means you can connect it with other data that you have

Shady

So I have to update and suddenly is a paid version and if I don’t want to pay I can’t access my data? Great way to go. STOP SUBSCRIPTION LIFE!!! If it was one time payment I would have actually accepted it. I hate what you all doing to our lives with this subscriptions for everything.

Positive Review

Really such an awesome app. Have been using it since October 2025 and it has helped me a lot to understand the way i should fuel my body in prep for events like half marathons and just daily training sessions. Would highly recommend getting the app and to incorporate it in your daily routine (tracking your food consumption etc).
Thanks for building up such an amazing app! Works awesome with my Garmin watch as well!

Response from developer

This means a lot. Helping you fuel half marathons and everyday training is exactly the kind of real-life support we want Alma to provide. So glad the Garmin connection is working well for you, and thanks for being with us since October!

AI chat underwhelming

Speaking with the chat, it's clearly a very outdated LLM - think 2024 level competency. It initially pushed me to eat 1500 calories per day to lose 1.5 pounds / week and, as someone who has tracked calories in the past, knew at 6'0 210 pounds working out 5X / week, that the number made zero sense. After reviewing assumptions, it was clear where the leaks where - and they were very naive.

As an AI-native app this is highly disappointing. Moving back to MyFitnessPal

Great Nutrition App

Alma is great for anyone ranging from beginners tracking calories to athletes with dialed in nutrition and performance goals. I really appreciate how responsive Rami is to user feedback and how the app is constantly rolling out new features.

Easy and adaptive

A highly adaptive nutrition tracker. Very simple to use with a really responsive development team.

Incredible App!

I used Alma while I was completing the 75Hard challenge. It was great!! I reached all my goals. Highly recommend!! It is worth every penny!

It’s improving and benefits from specifics

This is a revised review. Original was two stars. Great idea and I found it terribly let down *at first* by bugs and Al doing its Al thing and making up stuff.
However I’ve persevered after the founder reached out to me and explained what was in the process of being fixed etc.
Since then I’ve found it actually to be a lot better than it initially was but like all apps with an AI element you need to be aware of AI limitations and sometimes question it. That’s an issue with AI not the apps. If you’re looking for a calorie/diet assessment tool it’s pretty good - particularly on the nudge advice. It’s pretty accurate with bought packaged foods (which I rarely eat) but needs a more careful eye over its thinking when you do your own cooking from scratch etc. I found that it’s default assessment of a portion was, putting it politely, slightly American supersized compared with the average European meal (average is obviously very subjective) so it can help to give it specifics such as pictures with description or actual weight (eg 150g of pasta).
The upshot is that I’m going to stick with this over the next few months as it’s turned into a useful coach / guideline adviser particularly now it’s counting my exercise - and chatting with it ahead of an evening meal can be very useful to consider what you really need / want and to approach food mindfully.

Best nutrition app ever!

Super easy to log food, you just talk to it like an AI assistant, or take pictures. The logging is shockingly accurate, and then it gives you useful advice on how to make small, but beneficial changes to your diet. Also integrates with Claude. Much better than the few other calorie apps I’ve used.

Great Resource

This is a really great, easy to use, app. I really love it. Using it has naturally improved my eating habits. I love how easily it connects to my Claude account for deeper health coaching.

The Best Nutrition App

I feel like I've tried all of the leading nutrition apps. Alma is, hands down, the best. Alma's AI-native user interface makes it simple and elegant to work with - the voice dictation couldn't be easier. It also has a native MCP server so it integrates nicely with AI tools. Hats off to the team at Alma for creating the future of nutrition tracking and coaching!

Game changer for logging food

Really simple to use, and still holds you accountable.
