Spyware that ignores your notification preferences
I turned off notifications for sports, but I still get notifications for sports. Also, why does a news app need to track your activity across platforms? It’s sad how just about every single app is spyware now, even news apps.
Stop the ads!
Content is average but the ads are terribly repetitive and poorly executed. A real detractor from the news. Ap runs poorly…probably due to all the awful ads.
Racial tensions
Why do you guys constantly push divisive conflicts between White and black people on your platform? There is more to the world than social justice issues.

No longer a reliable news source. We don t need personal bias in reporting. Very shameful editorializing with progressive left wing bias.
Not good on local news at all
The only “local news” this app ever provides for Delaware is other states sports news. Lame AP. Can get that info in any sports section of any paper. Hate sports in general. How about you have actual local news - or stop saying you do.
Heavy censorship in comments section
The app itself is fine, and AP is one of the best sources for US breaking news and election results, however the recent integration of the comments section into the app has exposed serious censorship, which appears to be associated with certain viewpoints rather than moderating uncivil discussion.
I have also noticed how AP’s reporting has more of an editorial bias these days. I’m a middle of the road type of person so I actually post things that run counter to the partisan viewpoints of other commenters, yet mine are routinely censored.
AP is always begging for money to support journalistic freedom, yet can’t even moderate discussion on their website in a way that prioritizes free speech. In a way I’m glad to see their true colors and how radical most of their readers are, which is motivating me to look elsewhere.

Push notifications on iOS are completely broken. I set them to Breaking only, and I get everything. I set them to nothing, and I get everything. Otherwise a good app.
Click sensitivity on ads
Click sensitivity on ads, particularly for Expedia, is absolutely ridiculous. I’m constantly opening safari tabs while trying to scroll. App is borderline unusable because of this.
Broken ‘Turn on location based news’ feature
The location based news feature has been broken for months/years. Without it, you’ll just get new biased toward the US rather than more local to you.

Today in History stuck at February 25!
The app works well most of the time. Unfortunately the date on the “Today in History” image is stuck at February 25. Let’s see if the AP’s app developers read reviews as I can’t find any other way to feedback on a bug.
Trash ads force you out of the app
You can click anywhere but when you do, suddenly you’re being forced off the app and into your web browser to the ad that was shown 3/4 of the way down. I’m about to delete this trash. Used to read BBC before they did this. I’m on the cusp of deleting this app too. I’ll go straight to RT news online. At least then I’ll get a bias that’s not liberal leaning.

Ham-fisted, amateurish propaganda
Promotes extreme progressive agenda. Never misses a chance to denigrate Israel, drag Trump irrelevantly into unrelated stories, and fail to report on atrocities throughout the world that would cast their woke causes in a negative light. Sloppy reporting and writing, replete with misspellings.
Used to be a good app
Unfortunately the ads redirection on this app have made it almost impossible to use, in particular redirection to the Amazon Shopping app. Sensitivity as you scroll past the advertisements is super high leading to unnecessary frustration as the app redirects. As a result I rarely use the app anymore. More reasonable subscription plans would likely see more users elect for ad free options.

What happened?
Update May 2026 —.
I don’t know what changed but this app takes forever to load now. I even deleted and re-added thinking maybe cache was getting too big. When you launch the app it just sits there loading. I don’t know if this is due to the addition of adds and we are waiting on third party loads on top of the news feed load but I’m quickly losing patience after several weeks of this and a few app updates since it started with it not being fixed. And I have 2.5GB internet at my house so it’s not my connection. There is no way you aren’t aware of this issue so what’s taking so long to get performance back to acceptable levels??!!??!!
Previous review — This used to be my top news app. I could always count on it having up to date news information. After the last couple of updates things have gone down hill. News stories are not refreshing. I see the same stories for DAYS on my home page. Yes one or two will refresh but others just seem stuck there and stories I see on other news apps are not showing up here. I too, like others, have experienced crashes while reading articles. I also have noticed an uptick in adds in the feeds. There are better news apps out there to pick from and this one is quickly fading away in use.

App logs out every time it updates
Every time the app updates, my account is automatically signed out, which means I stop receiving breaking news notifications. I attempt to log back in, and instead of accepting my login credentials, the app prompts me that my account doesn’t exist and I have to create a new account. I have gone through this frustrating circular loop over three times. Please fix it!

Expedia Ads made me delete your app
The fact that can’t scroll past an Expedia ad without it opening up safari is ridiculous. Add that there is an ad after every couple articles makes it impossible to be infuriated. Will stick with Reuters
