iPad need work

iPad could use some more work. Needs to rotate with full view, at the rotation. Currently you have to till your head to see it correctly. If you rotate the iPad, you get a bad resolution.

Do not buy

The program is not user-friendly and I wouldn’t not recommend anybody to buy it

A new lease on life for my R8 thanks to Arsenal.

I had pretty much relegated my Canon R8 to the camera bag save for special occasions. For pretty much everything, my iPhone sufficed. I have a decent setup, highlighted by a Canon 200-800 lens. To say it is fiddly would be an understatement and it is work to get an image out of it. Then I discovered Arsenal Pro 2 and the Arsenal 2 software that turns my phone and R8 into, for me, a camera saver. Out of the box, I did a walkabout in my Old Town neighborhood. Then, just for kicks, I tried it with my 200-800. While I still have somewhat of a learning curve setting up native camera settings to optimize the images, I was literally able to get the package to perform like never before. The Arsenal works best when paired with this software and my iPhone, but there is a handheld mode that allows you to run sans phone…which for my walkabout - or for daily use - is perfect. Have not tried any of the stacking features next…but to this point, Arsenal has given my R8 a new lease on life…imagine if your iPhone camera was…a better camera. That is exactly what the Arsenal Pro 2 turns your mirrorless or DSLR camera into. Bravo. Keep up the good work.

Doesn’t stay connected to camera

This thing takes one shot, and loses connection to camera or locks up. Focus stack, gets one pic then locks up and loses connection to camera. I will try a different cable, someone else said their cables are junk. We shall see.
Update: I finally got it to connect and stay connected, but only if both camera and arsenal have charged batteries. I had 25% charge on camera, but a fresh battery in and it worked great. But that means holy grail timelapse may suffer on long timelapse shots.

First Outdoor Shot

First time using it outside after just receiving it a week ago and it froze. Blue light showed power was on but couldn’t turn it off. Would not connect to app even though it found the WiFi name. I was able to get 1 photo and then it froze. No 10 second hold on button, no WiFi. App completely froze too. I reached out to their support and will update when I hear back. Update—— recent shooting everything worked for the entire time and results were great!!!

Good idea, terrible execution

It crashes way too often. Also it doesn’t support my new camera canon r5 I. I contacted customer support for update she just give you lukewarm response saying we are working on it without any concrete timeline. This thing has become an expensive brick

It just doesn’t work.

The promise is great. And once in a while it’ll pull off a great shot. But that’s at the expense of mass frustration during which I could have captured many pictures myself and done better in post-processing. The one feature I really wanted to work (pseudo-long exposure) remains totally unusable despite multiple support tickets, sample submissions and even video of it misbehaving going back over a year. Bottom line, save your money. Use traditional techniques.

Update Jan ‘24. Long exposure mode still non-functional.

Update Dec ‘24. Long exposure mode still borked.

It does what it suppose to do …

I own both the Arsenal 1 & 2 and I am not that disappointed with either product. With that being said, I’m still hoping for a true iPad version of this app. I find the “real estate,” aka the image of this app on my iPad to be too small for my liking, which in turn limits the use of this device to only special occasions, which doesn’t occur very often.

Seem OK

Not much help in explaining how to use it. I am finding that I have to scour the Internet to find out how to use the features.

Great app but a little buggy at times

Sometimes locks up and have to restart but overall it’s a great app

Buggy

Great promise but hella buggy. A disappointment so far.

I want to love Arsenal 2…

…but I only like it. Hardware is solid. Functionality is decent (there are quirks), but the reason I only give it 3 stars is because on my Canon EOS R5, I use the Canon app to connect my phone to the camera to provide GPS data (I love geotagging my photos). When using Arsenal 2 Pro, I can’t get the GPS data. It’s actually quicker to do some post edits in Lightroom and get comparable photos to what Arsenal will produce, than it is to manually add in GPS metadata to the photos. Arsenal, please either add GPS data or allow it from 3rd party apps.

Wonderful controller and app

Just used it for the eclipse. Very helpful for settings and viewing the results

An exceptional product

I had the original arsenal and now have upgraded to the Arsenal 2 pro. The original product helped my photography tremendously and there are major improvements in the new model. The service has been outstanding with very rapid delivery and when I had one question it was answered in less than eight hours. This is a product that any photographer looking for help and improving their pictures should consider seriously.

Error Loading Pano

Overall it’s ok. I decided to get it thinking it would help with the editing time. However, very often an annoying “error loading pano” message keeps calming on, locking the App, when I’m trying to upload panoramic files. I need to either leave the app or delete and reinstall completely to get it working again. Not sure if the team is aware of it.

Non functional

I had the original Arsenal for my Nikon D5300 and loved it. I finally upgraded to a full frame camera (Sony A7R iii) right around the same time Arsenal 2 was announced. I bought the pro version thinking it would be even better than the original. So far it hasn’t worked for a single picture. No matter what mode I try to shoot in, the app never finishes processing the final image. I’ve double and triple checked all settings, following the camera specific instructions every time. Really sad to see a product I liked so much completely ruined by the “upgraded” version.

Response from developer

Sorry to hear you had trouble with Long Exposure Stacking. We just released an update to the app and firmware. Please try out the latest version at your convenience and email help@witharsenal.com if you're still having any issues. We're happy to help!

Works Exactly as Described, Highly Recommend

So I went out and purchased a Sony A7rV, a Gmaster prime lens and take pictures and they all look terrible? What am I doing wrong??? I don’t have an Arsenal!!! Immediate results, focused, clear, perfect shots right out of the box and I haven’t even really spent much time with it? I am absolutely impressed right out the gate and can’t wait to spend more time with Arsenal !! I would highly recommend this for anyone that’s new to the camera world and just needs help, I still don’t know the basics but this really helped me

A few more days with it,

I like that it sends the files to an external source, essentially doubling your camera capacity,

Images are editable on the fly, and you can send them directly to your cell phone for review
