What's New in Artemis Director's Viewfinder

8.7.2

July 17, 2026

Helios sun-tracking comes to Artemis, plus a whole new way to work with your shots in the gallery. HELIOS — TRACK THE SUN, LIVE • See the sun's path traced right over your live camera view, so you can plan exactly where the light will fall. • Scrub through the day with the new vertical time slider and watch the sun move along its arc. • Jump to any date to scout how the light will look on your shoot day. • Fine-tune the overlay to your real-world view with Calibration mode. • Sun path follows your GPS location's local time for accurate results anywhere. A NEW GALLERY: NON-DESTRUCTIVE LAYERS Every mark-up you add to a photo is now its own layer you can toggle, re-edit, or remove at any time — your original frame is always kept clean underneath. • Draw, Text, LUT, Stand-in, Framelines, and Storyboard are all live, re-editable layers. • Storyboard tools: the Zoom box now locks to your frame's aspect ratio (or your frameline's), and Dolly shows clear corner arrows. • Edit or delete per-photo framelines right from the layers menu with a swipe. • Your layers sync across devices and are baked into PDF and image exports and gallery thumbnails. Plus a range of refinements and fixes across the camera, gallery, and external camera modes.

Subscriptions?… seriously??…

So. This app a few years ago was thirty dollars. Them. To upgrade it. Was another thirty dollars. Now… it’s becoming subscription based?… This is getting deleted. Cadrage is a much better app. And a one time purchase.

Fantastic Onset View Finding Tool

We have been using Artemis for years onset as a view finder. Nic has been super helpful making changes and personalizing camera formats and lenses as the new technology evolves.

Been using it for years now

Had some hiccups along the way, but it’s been pretty solid for a while now. Use it on every tech scout.

Very useful app with fantastic support.

My friend who’s a cinematographer recommended this app and I have to say it’s pretty easy to use even if you’re not a professional. Really helps setting up and framing shots for YouTube videos. And the support from the developer is the best I’ve ever received.

Great App and Support

I just ran into a problem,
I contacted support, and they called me back the same day. The problem is solved—that’s great!

Response from developer

No problem!! We are here to help and will get back to you within 12 hours of an enquiry. Thanks for your support.
