Our best in set tool
When Artemis first debuted it didn’t take long for us to mostly shed every other old style and cumbersome finder - be they lens-on or the viewfinder type. Working as we do with minimum 3 cameras, and often more on Landman and Lioness, the time savings are significant given we do in the order of 60+ set ups a day. The fact my operators, the director, myself and indeed every crew member has a viewfinder in their pocket and can immediately see what we are aiming for is a godsend on set and invaluable in prep. I now have the art and location departments using them for previs and scouting. And it just keeps getting better.

Support about the brand new UVC feature.
I tested the app’s support for the new UVC feature (for external camera monitoring), which is available in the latest version of the app.
I was able to test this feature on my iPhone because the option was available during the first few days after the update. I did a quick test with a Nikon ZR that I rented for the occasion, and I really liked the feature.
Since the feature disappeared after a few days, I contacted support, who did two things: first, they helped me understand what had happened with the extension, and second, their service was very efficient and quick.
As a buyer of the version since 2023, I’m glad that it works well in every aspect, whether during use or when dealing with an issue.
I’m looking forward to seeing this feature available again on the iPhone app; I find the format much more interesting for a monitor when shooting handheld shots.

Great app! Essential for cinematographers on any production. Artemis is really pushing the feature set forward too. The Helios integration, live streaming and Mac app are a welcome upgrade!

The gold standard for a digital viewfinder
There’s a reason this one is trusted by top cinematographers and has the awards to back it up. The camera and lens database is comprehensive, the framing is accurate, and having every lens in my pocket makes communication on set so much easier. Manual image control, LUT previews, custom frame-lines, and streaming to nearby crew are all things I use constantly. The Helios sun-tracking addition is fantastic for planning exteriors. Fast, precise, and fully customizable — it genuinely helps me shoot a better film.

So. This app a few years ago was thirty dollars. Them. To upgrade it. Was another thirty dollars. Now… it’s becoming subscription based?… This is getting deleted. Cadrage is a much better app. And a one time purchase.
Fantastic Onset View Finding Tool
We have been using Artemis for years onset as a view finder. Nic has been super helpful making changes and personalizing camera formats and lenses as the new technology evolves.

Had some hiccups along the way, but it’s been pretty solid for a while now. Use it on every tech scout.

My friend who’s a cinematographer recommended this app and I have to say it’s pretty easy to use even if you’re not a professional. Really helps setting up and framing shots for YouTube videos. And the support from the developer is the best I’ve ever received.

Artemis has the capability of adding any camera via the Custom Camera function. If you email us at support@chemicalwedding.tv we can help you do this. Once we have verified data for the Nikon ZR camera we can add it. In fact we use results from Custom Camera input in our verification process. I'm adding the ZR today.
App Doesn’t Work
I purchased this app in the bundle with Helios. It used to work fine ( a little slow between shots), but it hasn’t worked since I upgraded my OS to the latest versions. I open it, and it just closes out before it opens, every time.
Bugs / missing photos
Extremely disappointing. The app is full of bugs and runs painfully slow even on the newest iPhone. Photos are missing and don’t appear either in the iPhone library or inside the Artemis app. It used to be reliable, but the quality has clearly gone downhill. At this point, I’m switching to Cadrage.
Updated database ?
When do you think you’re database will be updated ? For exemple, the new Nikon Zr is missing from the app. Thank you by advance, great app.

La tengo instalada en mi iPhone 16 pro. Estoy en rodaje y la aplicación se cerró. Cada vez que intento volver a acceder a ella se cierra. Ya reinicie el celular y sigue sin dejarme entrar
Fov number doesn’t change when aspect ratio frameline changed

Warning! This app does not function unless you give them full access to your photo library
Until this is updated to allow app function with only limited access (which would still allow them to save photos to your phone) this review will remain up.

This is not true. In order to save images to the Apple Photo app, which is the purpose ofma camera app, Artemis has to get permission to access the Photo library. This is a requirement for permission that Apple introduced due to new government regulations. This is simply what this is. Nothing more.
