About
Put scrolling aside. Take two minutes.
Ashimoto Zen lets you watch a quiet walk unfold on screen while you sit and hold your device still. Take a short break with scenery and footsteps.
A quiet walk in your hands
Look down at ink-painted robes and feet moving through the scenery. The hem follows each step, and footprints left on the ground gradually fade.
Choose from 10 places
A wooden veranda, stepping-stone garden, white line, brick path, rice field, mossy stones, pilgrimage trail, Ganges, space, and Emptiness. All 10 are available from the start. Your first walk visits the veranda and stepping-stone garden.
Two minutes, or one complete track
Most walks last two minutes. Emptiness follows a complete music track, about 2 minutes 45 seconds. If your device moves too far, the footsteps stop. Use the position reset action to continue from a comfortable angle. Quiet walks have no penalties or failure ending.
Learn the controls and take your time
On-screen guidance explains how to begin. Pause or finish early whenever you like. Time does not advance while the app is in the background.
A record of your breaks
Look back at time spent in the scenery. Stillness time is available as a separate record. Preparation and pauses are excluded from your time in the scenery.
For a break between work or study, a breather before bed, or a moment when you notice you are still scrolling.
All 10 places are free. No account is required. Records are saved on your device. Available in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Use while seated, holding your device. This app is not intended for use while actually walking.
