Great version

Still playing this 5 years on. I read another reviewer that said he couldn't renege, I have no idea what he's talking about because it works perfectly. Rules are somewhat changeable (there's a rules list with checkmarks you can modify) as auction is played a bit differently here and there. Easy to figure out. Not gonna lie it's not a flashy game, but if you were like me and auction was a game that you played with your family and friends growing up, This is great.

Good tool for kids

I tested this app out myself recently to see how it works. I only play verse the computer so thatโ€™s all I can speak to but it works pretty well. If I pass on the first hand of the game it freezes every time but thatโ€™s a minor thing. I wanted it so my kids could use it as a learning tool on their tablets and it worked great! I unleashed them at a family gathering after only about a month of them playing everyday with me next to them coaching strategy and they smoked my father and I in their first ever team match! ๐Ÿ˜‚ They got it fast with this app to help teach them. Great tool for learning and fun enough to pass some time with as well.

Fix the CPU strategy on partners

When playing partners, third man high needs to be included in the strategy for CPU because it just ruins the bid otherwise. The CPU bidding style is also insane. I will constantly get overbid by my opponent and most times, they 3-4 trump cards but all rags

Computer always wins

Computer always wins. Always has the better cards. Itโ€™s not random shuffle.

Poor plays

Plays poorly. In cutthroat play, Instead of trying to set the bidder, the opponents are only out to gain points. In partner play, there is no concept of third man high.

FAQ

What is the objective of Auction / Forty Fives?

The main objective of the game is to accumulate as many tricks as possible. To win, your score must exceed 120 points. This involves strategic play during bidding, calling trump, and the actual card play.

How does bidding work in this card game?

The game begins with a bidding stage where players can bid 15, 20, or 25. If you are the dealer, you hold the bids. If you are not the dealer, you make bids. This bidding determines who gets to call trump.

What is the role of calling trump?

If you win the bid, you have the opportunity to call trump. Calling trump allows you to designate which suit is the strongest for that round. This is a crucial strategic decision that influences the entire game.

Are there any special cards or rules?

Yes, the Ace of Hearts has a special rule. It ignores standard trump rules, except when Hearts is the trump suit itself. This card can be played strategically to maximize your trick-taking potential.

Is this game available on multiple platforms?

The provided information indicates this is a mobile application, specifically designed for 1 vs 1 play against a CPU. Compatibility details for specific operating systems are not provided in the description.
