The first one we had didn’t have issues, this second device eats up batteries like crazy!
Crashes over and over
Trying to reconfigure existing locks and this garbage just crashes over and over. I hate these locks…..
Smooth Operator
Will never have to worry about getting locked out of the house again as long as my phone is with me. Plus the convenience of being able to unlock the door for family and friends when we’re with not home or not able to answer the door
2026 update : no widget but not too bad
It was all fine and after the lastest update the widget section is now shown "unable to load"

4 years later, no regrets!
I’ve used August locks even in commercial settings for my clients. And for my AirBnb business. The biggest plus is the simple elegance. They got the engineering flawless then created a no frills app on top of it. They just work! The only request I’d make is they add battery percentage indicators to all their models-including the original locks!

Poor app matching mediocre hardware
The app has a limited functionality. It also fails to identify components connected to local WiFi network - hardware identifier, matching local IP etc. Hard to think of a more basic app to control the lock to your house. Buying it was a major mistake.

To use the app on my phone I have to be within 10 feet of the lock. I cannot lock it or unlock it from a distance.

It seems the batteries die super fast or one gets a msg about batteries dying very fast

Why would anyone need a door lock? Keys are best invention of all time.

After trying several other brands, August locks is the most reliable , durable compatible , user friendly of them all .

Frequent warning that needs replacement.
New Design is Horrible
August redesigned the home screen with a battery indicator, but it's not useful because you can't see the battery indicator. It is hidden behind the horrible toolbar on the bottom. The new design uses a thick toolbar that covers the battery indicator. I'm assuming they don't have quality control or review their work. Otherwise, they would have noticed it. It looks poorly designed & outdated. They need a refresh design & fix it.

Problems setting up the lock
Problems to configure the lock, when trying to configure for automatic closure among other functions the app turns off, disappears from the function I can't configure anything else

Works great, battery stinks
The August system works pretty good, but cannot get 5 stars due the lack of long-term lithium batteries system; I have to recharge them (Yes, you need rechargeable batteries) like every month or less. Why not designing for long-term charging? I’m willing to pay a little bit more to support it.
it’s okay i guess
okay so this app is great sand all but it sometimes doesn’t work and i stand at the door waiting for it to open and it takes a while sometimes. Once I almost peed my pants. But other than that it is great!!
Battery life
The only problem is that battery life is terrible!
