Impressively comprehensive yet accessible app

nashwaak, thank you for the thoughtful review and recommendation — it genuinely means a lot! Glad the early forecast issue hasn't resurfaced. The 3-hour step is intentional: the official Kp forecast from NOAA SWPC is published in 3-hour blocks, so a true hourly view would largely be interpolation rather than fresher data. AuroraMe does pull faster live inputs — NOAA OVATION, cloud cover, darkness, and moonlight — for real-time status and alerts, so those update more frequently. I'll keep looking for a way to surface a clear hourly view of local viewing conditions without implying the space-weather forecast is more precise than it really is. Clear skies! 🌌 Nikolai Creator of AuroraMe
Very limited accessible information content

Hi nashwaak, That's genuinely frustrating — you paid for an annual subscription and the forecast disappeared on you the very next day. I'm sorry about that. Two quick things to try: 1. Force-close AuroraMe and reopen it 2. Go to app Settings → Restore Purchases — this re-links your subscription if it got disconnected If neither helps, please email me at app.aurorame@gmail.com with your app version (Settings → About) and I'll dig in right away. I want to make sure you're getting the full forecast you paid for. Nikolai Creator of AuroraMe

Hi FrenzyEmzy, I hear the frustration. The free version does include the aurora map (all 7 layers), Kp forecast, cloud cover, and unlimited basic alerts — real tools for catching the lights. Premium unlocks the 72-hour forecast, more locations, and trip planning. I'm working to make the free features more obvious so they don't get lost behind the upgrade prompts. Good but one or 3 questions
Response from developer
Thank you so much for your kind review! It really means a lot to hear that the aurora tracking works well for you — seeing those purple lights in person is what it's all about! 🌌 About the dark/light display when zooming in during daytime — the map uses a dark theme by default for the best aurora viewing experience, so the background always looks "nighttime" regardless of your actual time of day. The sunlight layer (which you can toggle on/off) shows the real-time day/night boundary accurately. Regarding the clouds. The cloud data currently updates about every hour and shows accurate coverage within approximately 30 km around your saved locations. We know this can feel limited when looking at other areas. The good news: in our next update we're adding a Rain Radar layer with near real-time precipitation data (updates every 10 minutes, global coverage). If you see rain or snow on the radar — aurora viewing won't be possible there, so it's a very practical tool for planning your aurora hunt! Thank you again for using the app, and wishing you many more clear skies and vivid auroras! 💚
Idiot proof
Response from developer
Thank you so much, tvmob! That's exactly what we're going for — clear, simple aurora alerts without the guesswork. If you ever catch a great shot, we'd love to see it! Happy aurora hunting!
What a waste!! Don’t pay for this!

Hi Jay, sorry to hear AuroraMe didn't meet your expectations. Could you share what felt lacking? We'd genuinely like to understand and improve. You can reach us anytime at app.aurorame@gmail.com — we're a small team and every piece of feedback helps us get better.
Macht nicht das, was sie soll
Response from developer
Tut mir leid!
App doesn’t seem to have the latest info
I doubt I’d have seen it anyway with the light pollution but today (now that it’s over) all the numbers are up.
Maybe I’m using it wrong but I don’t think so.
Response from developer
Sorry about that. Our score is your local chance (clouds, oval/height, moon & light pollution), not global headlines—so Chicago can be low even during a big storm. v1.4.4 is currently in review and improves data updates plus adds an aurora globe.
no support, no way to cancel
Response from developer
Sorry about that. There’s no in-app support button, but you can reach us via the developer contact email on the store listing. To cancel: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → AuroraMe → Cancel (iPhone: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). v1.4.4 is currently in review with improvements.
Waste of time
Response from developer
I’m really sorry your New Year’s plans didn’t turn out the way you hoped. That frustration is totally understandable. Unfortunately aurora visibility and air quality can change quickly and are out of our control. Wishing you a much better viewing soon — and a happy New Year.
À utiliser en complément
Ce n’est pas la meilleure application mais aide à savoir l’heure à laquelle le KP est élevé pour pouvoir anticiper un minimum les sorties.
A utiliser en complément d’une autre application.
Response from developer
Too expensive.
Response from developer
Thanks for your feedback and for trying AuroraMe. High-quality aurora forecasts require paid satellite data, multiple space-weather sources, and 24/7 servers, so the subscription helps cover these costs and keep the app ad-free. There’s also a free mode and regular discounts, and we’re always reviewing pricing based on feedback like yours.

Sorry about this experience — there was likely a bug with our review prompt and we’ve already adjusted it. You can always skip rating, we never want to force anyone. Hope you still managed to catch the aurora that night.
