High hopes

Sounded like a great fit for my lifestyle at the time of application in like 2023-early 2024. I was also excited to try out an EV without purchasing. Well, I applied and went through to pick the vehicle and monthly payment and the app had been frozen on that screen ever since. It is now 2026, years later still no response from customer service about fixing the issue. Now the fees are incredibly high in addition to the vehicles being used or slightly older. Not worth the trouble. Just use Turo for weekly or monthly’s if needed.

Change of mind, not bad so far..

Quick process so far. At first the support tickets were going to my junk mail as unverified emails so that through me off. They responded pretty quick. Another rep got back to me even quicker and was able to swap vehicles for me really fast. So now I’m waiting for the vehicle arrival confirmation. I’ll update this review afterwards.

Best Deal Ever

No credit check, simple payments, maintenance, return when you want to. Now I can drive the car I want.

No good!

Downpayment is ridiculous for a car that you might drive for a month or two. Monthly payments are also horrible

Great experience

I had a great experience with my subscription, really enjoyed the car and they paid for tire maintenance and registration. Return process was super fast and simple, Frank was very helpful and friendly. Thank you Autonomy!

Highly recommend Autonomy, especially Frank and Chad. These guys are great.

I have dealt with Frank more than one time over at Autonomy. These guys are absolutely amazing. They're impeccable the way that they do the service the way they do the delivery the way they handhold you while you're going through everything and or anything after that amazing people amazing deal highly recommend.

Not what i thought

Backed out when i found out they want to charge a start fee and deposit. Not spending over 3.5k on a car that doesn’t belong to me

Bad customer service they will take the car because they want to even when bill is paid

The concept is ok but after a while it will get expensive you will pay more then the subscription price that is advertised. When I got the car breaks were bad. Took forever to deliver. My seats were messed up when the car came. Also customer service is terrible . Not reliable Extremely rude and not professional at all. They pick and choose when you can use their service even when you pay your note every month. If the customer service agent feels like you shouldn’t have to car they can and will take it or force you to turn it in whether you pay the bill or not .

My first EV!

Frank and Chad from Autonomy did an outstanding job explaining the entire Autonomy process plus the car itself. This is my first EV so you can imagine that I had a lot of questions. From the moment I met with Frank, I was immediately relieved to know that Frank was going to be there for me and allow me the time to ask questions, get answers, and go for a test drive. I am so excited to start driving my new EV and it is all thanks to Autonomy and Frank as well as Chad!

Misleading

App says no credit needed… they checked my credit…

Great service, app needs help

I’ve had my Tesla for two years now. The car was brand new when I picked it up and it was so easy. The hardest part was the $5900 startup fee which included first months payment, taxes and a “down payment” on a car you don’t actually own. My payment was as advertised, under $500 per month plus CA state sales tax.

The car has been great, they take credit cards for payment so you get your points, and everything appears above board. There are just a few minor issues.

The car is registered to a fleet company. Some
Insurance companies supposedly will not insure you unless your name is on the title so you won’t be able to get insurance from those companies. The other issue is that their systems are a bit missed up. I frequently get CC declined errors each month but then go check and it says my card was charged. The app has issues logging in most times and they also want you to always provide location data which is not cool. I don’t want anyone tracking my phone. They can already track me from the Tesla car itself so there is zero reason for them to also track my phone when I’m not driving the Tesla!

Overall, everyone I have talked to at the office is very nice and responsive. I am happy with the service and will continue keeping the car for a while because it’s just an amazing car.

Buyer Beware When you Try to Cancel

Had a fairly good experience for almost 2 years although start up costs were way too high. But after cancelling subscription and returning the car, they continue to charge the monthly fee and keep your deposit. Attorney General has complaints about their credit card fraud. Stay away.

Good product bad app

I’ve been using autonomy for almost two years now, and I love the concept and the product.

However, the app is just awful. It kicks you out all the time and treats you like a new user. Now, it shows me “permission denied” when I try to login in. Almost every month I’m getting messages that there’s an issue with a payment on their end, and the app keeps showing errors. It’s been going on for the whole time I’ve used it.
I work in tech, and I design products with tech teams. This looks to me very bad as far as UX goes and just the fact that every month there’s an issue makes me very disappointed as a customer.

Expensive and unresponsive

This subscription service has a extremely high startup cost. If you’re planning on renting a Tesla for a few months, stay far away from this service. It only makes sense if youre planning on keeping it for a year or more, but even then, very high to start. After I picked up the Tesla, I noticed air was slowly leaking from one of the tires and had to keep re-inflating it every few days. I took it to a tire repair shop because Autonomy said it’s not covered over warranty because it’s possible that I just ran something over after I picked up the car. It’s not 100% confirmed that I ran it over or if it came like that, so I had to pay $300 out of pocket to get it repaired.

Cost breakdown: It was almost $2500 to start, and $1200 every month with the plan i chose and with the plan to keep it for a few months to a year but i had issues storing it and even though I had a wall charger at home, it was hard charging it with the other cars at my house, so I dropped it off early. I did learn that I need a model Y and I also bought a J1772 extension cord to make it work.

The guy who I picked up the Tesla from was not a trustworthy guy. He made me very uncomfortable and at one point, was very condescending when answering my questions about the vehicle.

The app itself was glitchy when viewing registration and insurance info. It needed to have my location all the time for it work, which was weird. It was not very helpful except showing me when my next payment was due.

On the topic of customer service, every single time I called Autonomy, they never answered. I had to leave several voicemails and only remember getting a call back once. I tried texting the guy who I got the car from, took a day to respond.

I dropped off the car on July 11th and today I got a message that said my Apple Card was charged at a supercharger. So they continued to use my card to charge the car after I had disconnected from it.

I called them and someone transferred me to their billing department. The guy said he would refund me the amount and remove my card from the Tesla car. Now I’m waiting for the refund.

Overall, they failed at every step. I had a horrible experience. Stay far away from this service.

They Overpromise, but truly under deliver

For starters, the app gives you big hopes and promises of you qualifying for a autonomy subscription, but in reality you got to have Super premium credit score, and a bunch of other requirements that need to fall in what they there metrics. Just go directly with Tesla, this didn’t make any sense to me! hence ~I have perfect credit score. Somehow they still turned me down my down.

Amazing concept. Even better customer service

This is an extremely helpful app for a lot of people. The employees are also super nice and are willing to work with people. Great experience just all around. Highly recommend

Can’t login

App sends a login link to your phone number which doesn’t work. Tried it multiple times. It also sent a six digit login code which also didn’t work.

Crazy

Was considering until they only give u 1 option 1000 dollars a month for a car is ridiculous

Not many options

Really love this concept! And would absolutely do use this app! However there don’t have many options and you don’t have the option to pick different models or colors.
