Not Perfect, but still Very Much Appreciated!

I’m not sure that all of the hate about this app and the accompanying AXIS installation tool is fully warranted. I will say that the “WiFi” functionality of the tool itself does in fact leave much to be desired. I experienced similar issues with intermittently not finding the camera, not allowing to set the password, lockup when trying to set the password, etc.

HOWEVER, if you get a USB-C network dongle, you can plug it directly into your phone (in my case, an IPhone Pro 15 MAX). Once the dongle is detected as a network adapter, there’s a whole “Ethernet” section that populates on the main settings page. You can set your address to DHCP or static. Ever since using this method, I’ve had zero issues. I’ve even had success with 3rd party cameras, being able to reach their web interface via the default IP.

So yes, while I suppose there’s a few caveats that must be overcame, the tool and app sure beat the alternative of having to carry a PC, a Poe switch/injector, find 120v power, etc. 100 times over.

Never Connects

This app never connects to cameras. Constantly have to force close the app, unplug it and back in, will also just spin saying connecting to device and never does.

Useless

You connect to the camera and sometimes it will let you set the password so you can log in, most of the time it just asks you to log in before you set the password. Old installer was better. And I don’t know why axis took away the default static IP just made everyone’s job more difficult.
