Not an app

Blank white page

Great gear, terrible app/site

Constantly crashing and freezing

Needs updating

The app is slow at times and should have a back key so shoppers can go back to what they were previously viewing.

Dead on iOS 26

Blank white page when opening the app.

Pure garbage

App is pure garbage and takes you to some random Google page

Latest version

I love this app but recently it has been failing to launch, opening to a blank screen, and as of today, it has been redirecting to dead links out of nowhere. I tried restarting the app and it still does it. Not even when clicking on products, it just does it periodically and often. I stopped using the steep and cheap app because it got almost unusable and now their main backcountry app has fallen downhill now as well.

Frustrating!

This app is so frustrating and glitchy. I try over and over again to make purchases but am unable so I purchase elsewhere. You offer PayPal but the app won’t complete a PayPal transaction…I have no problems with your competitor apps. This app needs a complete makeover, you don’t even offer a way to get out of the checkout page so I have to exit and clear everything then start over. Not user friendly at all. Great store, very poor app. Please fix this.

On-going Issues

The app has an on-going issue of glitches with network latency. Orders are dropped with little to no resolve. Backcountry as a store is great, however those app is pitiful and a sad excuse of technology in this day and age.

The worst app experience

The app keeps opening random browser pages when I search or click on certain products. Huge waste of time. You guys need to fix your tech or fire your product team. I can’t imagine the amount of money you guys loose in sales because the app simply doesn’t work.

Holds my data HOSTAGE

Backcountry sells all of your purchase data to data brokers to send you targeted ads, and even when you go through a formal request to delete your account, they won’t accept it.

I will never spend another dollar on a company that’s so against removing my sensitive information from their database!

Hate this app so much

Would love for this app to work correctly, just once, when I open it. Omg plz invest more into UX

App doesn’t save login

Broken app doesn’t save login info

Disappointed

The amount of clothing companies that get this right is vast. I’m assuming the person/people overseeing this UI/UX is buddy buddy with someone who can’t be honest with them. You have the gear but you don’t have the right engineering team. It’s so frustrating that I have gone to other sites to make my purchases. I will spend more at their competitors because the hassle isn’t worth it.

PLEASE FIX THIS APP. It’s been this bad for a long time.

Update: still a headache to use. I wish you never bought dogfunk because they had it right :(

Still a Bad Company

This place has lost its way so much and has no connection to its real customer base anymore…unless you like Lu Lu lemon and cheap free people clothing…
I’d leave zero stars if I could.
CSC, the Texas PE Firm that bought them will continue to lay people off and slash costs in the form of pto reduction, and how about we cancel almost all of your maternity leave too. Go shop at Walmart, this place is basically the next MooseJaw. RIP. Jim must be real proud of what you grew up to be.

Great Company Terrible App

So I have had incredibly positive experiences with Backcountry. Everything from gear heads, to YouTube reviews. The only area that NEEDS to be improved is their app. It freezes, it’s slow, it crashes. And it does all of these things frequently. I normally look for something quick on the app before it fails and then later I go onto my computer and order what I want to order. They really need to figure this out, because they really are a high quality company.

Trick to Going Back a Page?

I want to like and use this app but how do you navigate back to a previous page? I have to re-enter my search keywords and start over after I’ve clicked a product.

App barely works

I would love to buy stuff from backcountry, but half the time the page doesn’t load all the way, or I can’t scroll, or it freezes. Terrible app for a great store. I try to buy stuff, but give up out of frustration.

Why?!

Why does your app not work? My god it’s frustrating. Just a white screen after filtering items. My god it’s annoying fix your app

Glitchy and creepy

I wanted to like the Backcountry app. They have good selection and usually good pricing on the web and in thru stores. Their app is very glitchy. It crashes quite often. Eg, click sale link and then try to filter on categories or brands. The app crashes with a blank white screen. Sometimes it goes back to homepage others it just hangs. I raised this through chat and they said “update the app”. The app hasn’t been updated in a year. Separately. If you order anything from them the start texting you and emailing. It’s all or nothing (eg, no texts or many texts). If you click on something in the app or email about 1/2 hour later you’ll get a text saying we see you looking at those shoes, come back and buy. Or thanks for looking at ski pants, here’s some others to look at. It’s constant and no way to limit the type or amount of text without turning off completely. (They do have great sales occasionally so…). Wish they’d do better.
