About

The full strength program is free. No account, no sign-up, no server. Your data stays yours. Losing weight is the easy part now. Keeping your muscle is the job. Research on rapid weight loss consistently finds that a meaningful share of what comes off is lean mass rather than fat. The two things shown to protect it are unglamorous and well established: eating enough protein, and resistance training that gets gradually harder. Ballast does those two things and nothing else. A PROGRAM BUILT AROUND YOU Answer a few questions and Ballast writes a strength program scaled to your age, sex, training history and the equipment you own. It starts deliberately easy, adds volume week by week through four phases, and schedules lighter weeks so you keep recovering. Own only dumbbells? A bench? Nothing at all? The plan works around whatever you have and tells you what would be worth buying next. On a weekly shot? Tell Ballast your shot day, and choose which days after it are lighter: same weights, one set fewer, so you still train. Wiped out any other day? One tap makes today lighter. SEE EVERY MOVE DONE RIGHT Every exercise plays a short video of one slow, clean rep by a demonstrator in their fifties, not a fitness model. Workouts run one exercise at a time: do the set, tap done, rest, repeat. PROTEIN WITHOUT THE ARITHMETIC Your daily target is calculated from your current weight and follows it down as you lose. One tap logs a shake, a chicken breast, whatever you actually eat. When appetite is gone, the ring shows plainly how far short you are. WORKS WITH APPLE HEALTH Reads: your weight, so you never type it; exercise minutes, for this week's movement; age and sex, to scale your program. Writes: each finished session as a strength training workout with its estimated active energy, so it counts toward your rings, and each protein serving as dietary protein. What Ballast reads from Health stays on the device. Decline any of it and log your weight by hand; nothing stops working. ON IPHONE AND IPAD Sessions, protein and program choices sync between your devices through your own iCloud, end-to-end encrypted. Your weight, goal, age, sex, protein target and shot day never leave the device. On iPad: History beside its editor, a menu bar and keyboard shortcuts. PROOF IT IS WORKING Free: personal records and this week's volume against the evidence-based benchmark. Requires Ballast Pro (in-app purchase): your bodyweight falling while your working weights hold or climb. BUILT TO STAY YOURS No account, no login, no server: nothing is sent to us. Your data lives on your devices and in your own iCloud, encrypted so only your devices can read it, and exports to a readable file any time. Runs on iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo. BALLAST PRO (OPTIONAL IN-APP PURCHASE) Free with no purchase: the full training program, exercise videos, workout logging, the rest timer, Apple Health, iCloud sync, your daily protein target and exporting your data. Ballast Pro requires a separate in-app purchase. It unlocks the progress charts (weight trend, working weights and consistency) and your full workout history beyond the last 14 days. Options: Ballast Pro Monthly, $12.99 per month. Ballast Pro Yearly, $59.99 per year, with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers. Ballast Pro Lifetime, $99.99 one-time purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings. A note on safety: Ballast is a fitness and nutrition tracker, not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat anything and it never gives advice about medication or dosing. Ballast is an independent app and is not affiliated with any drug maker. Talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian before changing how you eat or train.
