Severely lacking
Still unable to initiate payments from within the app, even to saved templates. There have been zero feature upgrades since we started using this in November 2023. The Barclays.net / iportal duality is a dreadful experience. It’s 2025 - I want to be able to make a payment when I don’t have my laptop next to me. This lack of functionality is driving me to alternative platforms. Not to mention the lag when scanning QR codes to log in or sign payments when I do have my laptop.

Unreliable, too many outages
The app is mainly very good. So much more convenient than one time codes and card readers.
However, it’s too unreliable. Frequently (say one in ten times) I find that I can’t auth a payment as there’s some kind of internal error (I assume some server connection fails).
It reports com.Barclays.MACContainer 917.
Sometimes the user gets this error even trying to login to the app.
Alas when this happens There’s no way to tell Barclays.net to fallback to the chip card auth flow so the user has to give up and try authing again some time later, once the ‘internet weather’ has improved.
For an app of this type and from a bank of this size the failure rate is too high. Hopefully they will commission more servers or whatever they need to do to fix this before too long.

Not accepting new registrations
Webpage says new registrations have been temporarily put on hold pending updates to mobile services. No mention on app or iPortal though. Needs a lot of work.
Problems logging in
App shows “An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later (com.barclays.MACContainer 917)” repeatedly when trying to log in with the pin or scanning a QR code.
