Values not aligning
For an app/club that’s supposed to be about HUMAN connection, this company certainly isn’t valuing it. Base was great. But they just laid-off all of their city managers without any severance or notice in favor of switching to AI.
Maybe they’re losing money and about to go out of business?
But I don’t see how AI can physically make these events and build relationships with the venues we go to and make sure the space will work well in group settings, so I’m not optimistic that this business is gonna last much longer longer. I also really loved that you had to interview to get accepted, but recently heard that they’ve stopped doing that as well (probably an earlier round of layoffs).

Connect without commitment
Great place to connect with humanity, without witnessing performance or placation.
High standards
I had a great experience with Base, I love the places and style of the events.
This app insults you
This app wants to present itself as a curated social club but it’s really just an events aggregator that insults you at every turn.
On top of a subscription fee, every event costs more money. This would be fine if Base actually helped you, but instead they just give you a list and say “go for it”. No help. No suggestions.
For example, the new member event was booked solid weeks in advance and the next one was a month out on a Tuesday at noon.
And on top of everything the UX was designed by a child who wants to shove as much confusion at you at once.
No guided tours. No help from Base Inc. Disgusting
