The free world needs the BBC

Enough said.

Why Forced Advertising?

Why am I bothered with pop-up ads and forced advertising when I pay for your subscription?

Cost

Too expensive

BBC World News

Absolutely top-notch reporting without opinion.

Charging for access

Funny that the org is making good profit but charging access to worthy news making it less accessible to the general public. The amount of advertisements you have makes it seem like an apparent cash grab and a disgrace to the organization and mission

Cost

Why charge, your news is not the best globally

User Comment

I have enjoyed for 15 years, and continue to enjoy, your world coverage of events.
Keep it up!!

BBC world news

I absolutely enjoy reading BBC news (international). Specially in these moments of misinformation and disinformation.

Used to be great

Now almost half of all the stories are behind a Pay wall. There should be a setting where I don't even have them show up in the feed. But that wouldn't harass me to eventually pay for this would it? What it does do is make me immediately have the new story disseminated and told to me by something else.

Crashes all the time

The content is unsurpassable, bit the app crashes all the time. Completely unreliable.

Subscription

BBC used to be free. Now it has lots of adverts and on top of that, it requires a subscription

Finding BBC quite biased

Unfortunately the language used and the news chosen to be covered is not very balanced.

Poor design

It seems to take an age to find what you’re looking for.

Advertisers on BBC News BEWARE

Dramatically declining viewership.. Since launching PAID subscriptions Advertisers will not be getting anywhere NEAR the exposure while BBC lines their pockets. Many of us that PAY for BBC News in bundled subscriptions OUTSIDE the UK are being shafted by a company OUT OF TOUCH in America and Canada (especially where BBC is bundled)

Paywall or VPN

Decent balance on many subjects, but the app has caught paywall fever outside of the UK. For now, a VPN set to the UK will bypass this, but it’s annoying to have to use one for this app. Lost 2 stars for this.

Lost podcast world in two minutes :(

The previous app was easy to navigate, although it had limited content. This app is more complicated and misses the best features of the old app, including 'The World in Two Minutes,' which I’ve been following for over 15 years. When I escalated the issue to support, they dismissed the issue and said listen to it live on the website.… Seriously? I'm very disappointed in the BBC.

Step backward

New app is much less user friendly. Multiple taps to get to a radio station then the app crashes within 60s of playing. Going to have to find some other way to get world service whilst overseas

Paywall

No point updating, pretty much everything is paywalled now

Biased reporting

massive downgrade vs Sounds. What were the morons at the BBC thinking?

And the international news cannot be trusted. Sure they are good for news on health, science etc.

Horrible and Use Unfriendly

This is a review of the new app after the old one has been discontinued. I don’t know where to start. Had to use Gemini to find out how to find the daily programming. No longer possible to listen to past programs of that day. Or at least it’s not immediately apparent how to do that. Who in the world designed this disaster?
