Ruined by obnoxious ads and login requirements
It’s even worse than before with forced login prompts.
The app now bombards us with obnoxious ads that cannot be skipped or (critically) even muted. They override the no sound setting on your phone! This is unacceptable and I will be deleting the app and going back to using the web version with a robust ad blocker. I suggest you do the same.

Typical of the BBC
Absolutely abhorrent app. It's truly pointless having it and there is no way in paying to read the news, no matter who you are, even as left wing and woke as the BBC is now,it will never happen. Save yourself some time, uninstall the app and find much better news resources
Disappointing
As a Brit living abroad it’s so disappointing that I now have to pay to use this app. I can’t even read the news on the internet from the BBC as that too, requires a subscription. Unless you want to subscribe I wouldn’t recommend downloading this app.
Oversees access
After emigrating to Canada, I used to use the app daily to keep up to date with UK news….however - recently it requires a subscription. Why would the app be free in the UK, when you can access news from many outlets and not available oversees (free) for expats to stay informed. VERY DISAPPOINTING
Got greedy
Why shall we pay for the news when everyone else is offering free. Guess advertisement revenue wasnt enough. I have used this app for several years but guess its time to delete.
Adds
I would like to know how to remove adds, it is frustrating trying to read an interesting topic when this adds appear everywhere, thanks for your response

Constantly Crashes
App constantly crashes and ads placed in areas that you can’t help but click making navigation and using it tiresome
Buggy at best, US Subscription killed it for me.
I have never been able to resolve a bug in the live news pages. Now an attempt to put many of the most important articles behind a pay wall (in the US) is the nail in the coffin. The live updates don’t work consistently in the app. I get a loop of it signing in and out of my BBC account in an infinite loop. Tried signin-in/out, reinstalling/rebooting…nothing fixes it (sometimes a reinstall/reboot fixes it for a week and then the issue returns). My final solution was to give up and delete the app.

Very odd
While the overall design of the app is good, I have had two chronic oroblems with it. First, while it works perfectly on iPad, the iPhone version doesn’t work for me at all. I am able to read a few lines of one story on my iPhone before it crashes. But far more annoying is the disappearing content. I have literally seen articles that I read on the app just disappear once I close them. If I try to find them again using search in the app or browsing by category, they are simply gone - as if taken away by the Gestapo in the dark of night, never to be seen again. How is that even possible?

Not subscribing to pay to view news
Since you have introduced the pay to view option, if I see a headline that really interests me, I just googled it.. thank you for your previous commitment to sharing news with the public. Still debating whether or not I will delete the app..
I have used this app for well over a decade on various devices, because of the impartial opinions most of the time.. but that is subject to change

Another news source wants money
This was one of the best news source apps until they forced people to pay for a subscription. Will sadly delete this now.

Killed off a good source of news for me by making it subscription based.
Pay to play sucks!
I really enjoyed BBC until they changed it so now I can’t see a single story without a subscription. BBC was always famous for providing free news around the world for over 100 years…guess that doesn’t apply online

Can only read headlines and BBC wants you to pay, subscribe to read further now. Shame.

Not only is the app itself a complete disaster compared to the older app, now when I get notifications I have to PAY to read them?!
Do you realise that 95+% of the new story notifications are available from other apps/outlets etc and are free?!
You’ve lost the plot!
I have now blocked notifications from BBC, I will check in the future to see if you have pulled your heads out your arses and cancelled the paywall. Until then, I am done with what used to be a great app and newspaper source.
I was a very loyal long time user of this app, and then you ruined it. I am completely dismayed by your decision to destroy what was my favourite news app and in my and many others opinion one of the best apps for news, the layout and functionality was brilliant, now it’s my least favourite and I likely won’t be using it much longer. My on earth would you remove the “My News” section? Not only that, you may no longer swipe from one article to the next etc? Seriously?! Why????? Please restore these functions and the “My News” section. This app is now a steaming pile and a complete waste of time!

Paywall will kill your DAUs
I no longer use the app. If you’re going to charge a subscription to read articles, the BARE MINIMUM is removing the ads. Do better, BBC.
Now requires subscription
The BBC used to be a great source for news that I could trust, however, it now requires a subscription in order to read the majority of their stories.
