It is not a free app any longer!!! Sad!
I have been using the BBC News app for over 10 years. It was the best news app, in my opinion. However, the app and bbc.com is by subscription only now. Honest news will go to die behind the paywall. And democracy will soon follow.
Sadly I am deleting the app.

Increasing errors and unclear access
The quality of BBC reporting has been going down recently—they quickly release articles that often have whole paragraphs copy-pasted from other articles of theirs on the topic and have recently had more and more sloppy editing issues with repeat words and incomplete sentences. This does not make me inclined to pay for the subscription. However, it is increasingly frustrating to use the app without a subscription as there is no clarity into what parts are free and how many articles can be accessed per week or month. I may have to download a different news service app soon and delete this one. It’s a shame since it was good for years.

US Subscription the last hammer in the wall
Each update made this app just a little worse. Now an attempt to put many of the most important articles behind a pay wall (in the US) is forcing me away. The Beeb just announced a 550 person layoff. Typical best of British that us Brits managed to ruin and allow others to take over being the best. Ohh…and the live updates don’t work consistently in the app. I get a loop of it signing in and out of my BBC account in an infinite loop. Tried signin-in/out, reinstalling…nothing fixes it. I find the best way to get the BBC news is to delete the app and use the web access to the BBC. That worked fine (but find myself using the Guardian App now more).

Not free
Not listed when you download the app but it is not free. It requires a subscription. This should be stated up front.
Bye-Bye BBC
Disappointed that so much content is blocked by a paywall. Not worth the effort to scroll through.

Paywall!!!
Pay for news!!! No thank you!
Paid subscriptions now?
Isn’t the bbc funded by the British government / taxpayers? Greedy to change it to subscription based services.
Sad little app …
… putting a paywall around articles that are freely available on the bbc.com website.
Grrrrr subscription
Looks like the BBC decided to go the subscription route… thanks but no thanks.
Canadians must now pay
Like our neighbors to the south, Canadians are now expected to subscribe to BBC News at a not insignificant expense. It comes two weeks after I was told by support staff that Canadians would always be able to access bbc app for free.
With this egregious decision, Canadians have lost the last benefit of being a part of the Commonwealth.
*Strangely, the app was free to access in Canada the weekend of July 11th but is back to paywall on Monday. What are they doing?

Paywall?!
Not paying to read articles in the app when it crashes constantly and I can read them on your web site for free.
Very bad decision
More than a decade of relying on what I considered the finest news service in the world, and today I’m deleting the BBC News app.
So much for British “soft power”.
From the Empire Service, to the BBC’s historic place as one of the world’s most trusted and influential voices, it now feels like we are watching a great institution slowly retreat into irrelevance.
Not with a bang. Not even with a whimper.
Just another subscription screen.
From “This is London” to “Subscribe to continue”.
What a sad, shortsighted way to fade into the history books.

Making CDNs pay a subscription as well sucks
Used to use, won’t anymore
PAY? REALLY???😡
Not me.😤 I am a BRITISH CITIZEN, living in Canada. I have had this app on my iPad for the past 14 years. I feel the news is presented fairly and accurately. It also keeps me connected to my homeland. HOWEVER…news can be had from many sources, and at no charge. I am sorry that BBC has forced me to this, but I will not be using this app anymore.😢 Even if I wanted to get a PAID subscription, as a senior on a fixed income it’s a non-starter. I am angry, and also sorry.😞

Needs a UX overhaul
Clicking on a notification shouldn’t take you to a web page within the app… couldn’t read the article because it had a log in pop up despite me being logged in the app. What a terrible experience.
Keeps crashing when put on timer
Since latest update keeps crashing and cutting out when put on sleep timer.
Once great BBC
The once great BBC is sadly now charging to read news on it’s app…
What has become of the BBC..???!?!!!!

Charging for news is criminal
This was one of my key sources for fair and balanced world news until they stated to charge for Canadians-what a shame😔
Canadians… have to pay?
So let me get this straight, Canadians despite being governed by the British have to pay for BBC international news? Garbage. Will be deleting.
