Cheap and buggy
Response from developer
Good morning Nancy04camp, Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it is when you’re trying to quickly log an absence. If you haven’t already, you may find it helpful to enable biometric login (such as Face ID or fingerprint login), as this can make access quicker and more seamless. We’re currently looking at ways to improve the sign-in experience for non-biometric users, and we’ll provide updates to your school as enhancements are released in the app. For quick fixes, please visit our website; https://www.bne.catholic.edu.au/support/resources/troubleshooting-bce-connect-parent-portal-access. If you need more specific help, your child’s school can assist - please share your device type, app version, and a screenshot if possible. Kind regards The BCE Connect Team
Hard to find information with new blog setup
The response from the developer does not address the issue. The new way may have been designed to make it easier but it makes it harder. There was never an issue when you could select the individual year level blogs. If you wanted to see information related to year 3 you could select the year 3 blog and see all the relevant blogs in one place. If you wanted to see information for prep you could select the prep blog and see all the blogs related to preps. The new blog set up does not give you any way to filter the blogs. All information is dumped together in a central blog, split between 2 tabs. This makes it incredibly difficult to find information related to one child in any given year level because it is now mixed in with every other year level that you have children attending the school. Combining all the blogs together does not make it easier, it makes it harder. Perhaps adding an option to filter the posts would be helpful, although having the individual year level blogs was a significantly better set up.
Original review
The new blog setup makes it impossible to keep on top of information for multiple children. It was much easier to find information relating to a particular year level when you could choose the blog for that year level. Now you need to search through both the news and blog tabs as some year levels are posting in the the news and some are posting in the blogs tab. If you have multiple children, not only do you need to sort through multiple year levels worth of information, you also have to sort through all the other non year level specific posts that have been made that are all mixed in together.
Response from developer
Good morning, Thanks for sharing this feedback - I can understand how frustrating it would be to have to hunt through multiple areas, especially when you’re trying to keep up with information for more than one child. The good news is that the new blog process is designed to make this easier. Teachers can publish updates targeted to a specific class, so you will only receive blogs related to your children. In general, Teachers will use the Blogs tab for targeted class news, and you’ll find the News tab is used for broader, school-wide communication. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please contact your children's school - they’ll be happy to assist. Kind regards The BCE Connect Team
Never works
Terrible
Response from developer
Good morning, thanks for getting in touch and sharing your concerns - I understand how frustrating it is to have to sign in repeatedly. To make access easier, it isn’t necessary to log in via the website each time. Instead, if you’re able to, please enable biometric sign-in (Face ID / fingerprint) on your device. You will see this option when you first download the app and sign in. The latest version of the app includes enhanced security to ensure student information and data remains protected. And when biometrics are enabled, you can stay signed in and simply use Face ID/fingerprint when you open the app. If you opt out of biometrics, you may be logged out from time to time. We’re currently looking at ways to improve the sign-in experience for non-biometric users, and we’ll provide updates to your school as enhancements are released in the app. If you would like more detailed support, the trained staff at your child’s school are happy to assist you. Kind regards The BCE Connect Team
Incredibly bad app, shame on Catholic education for having it
Response from developer
Good afternoon, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear of your frustration. For data and security reasons you may be logged out from time to time. We recommend enabling biometrics in BCE Connect, so you can simply sign in using your face id/thumb print when you open the app (available in your device settings). In regard to your password not being recognised, sometimes your phone saves old passwords and autofill's passwords that don't work anymore. You can turn this feature off in your phone settings. We also have some troubleshooting steps on our website: https://www.bne.catholic.edu.au/support/resources/Pages/App-troubleshooting-guide.aspx. Kind regards, The BCE Connect Team
The WORST app ever
Cannot download app
Once logged in it is easy to navigate so I have given 3 stars for that
Response from developer
Hi TammyCooper, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I’m really sorry to hear how frustrating it’s been trying to download the BCE Connect app - that’s definitely not the experience we want for our families. One possible cause could be limited storage space on your phone, which can sometimes prevent apps from installing even when everything else looks fine. If you’re able to free up a little space and try again, that may help resolve the issue. I’m glad to hear that once you’re logged in, things are easy to navigate. If you have any concerns or would like clarification about your child’s details, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school directly - they’ll be more than happy to assist. Kind regards, The BCE Connect Team
Frustrating!!!
Response from developer
Hi nicci_11, thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback - I’m really sorry to hear how frustrating this experience has been for you. It sounds incredibly inconvenient, especially after trying all the usual troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the app, restarting your phone, checking your network connection, and ensuring your device is up to date. If you’re using an Android device, one thing worth checking is whether Google Chrome is installed and enabled, as the app relies on Chrome for secure sign in. If Chrome is disabled or uninstalled, it can cause the sign in loop you’ve described. Thanks again for letting us know - your feedback helps us continue improving the experience. If you’re still having trouble after checking Chrome, please reach out to your child’s school for support, as they can confirm whether your school based login is active and correctly configured for the app. Kind regards, BCE Connect Team

Good morning Iamkahn, Thank you for getting in touch. I apologise for the frustration you are experiencing, we are always looking to provide a seamless experience to our users and it helps us to hear what our users find difficult. Sometimes data from a previous session can be stored in BCE Connect and this can build up over time and slow things down. Please try doing a hard close on the BCE Connect app to clear your app's cache. If you continue to experience issues, please reach out to your child/ren's school who has trained staff to assist parents with the app. Alternatively the BCE website has troubleshooting steps (https://www.bne.catholic.edu.au/support/resources/Pages/App-troubleshooting-guide.aspx).
