Does what it’s supposed to do

Worth paying for it to just work.

waste of time - they deleted my old logged images from just a few months back

I paid $35 for a year of this to track my weight loss progress. i took a bunch of photos a few months back and uploaded them here & today went to look at them to compare myself now to then & it says β€œno previous uploads / logs”. i know for a fact that i correctly uploaded them, because there was a few weeks in a row i was taking and uploading the images so they were showing. i did not get a new phone or clear my data. so i wasted $35 for nothing.

Hi, I’m really sorry you've had this experience, I can see how missing photos would be extremely frustrating. If you previously added photos and now the app shows no journeys it’s typically caused by an iCloud setting, account or device change rather than the photos being deleted. We don't actually store photos on any of our own servers to maximize privacy, and there's nothing in the app that would trigger automatic deletion of data. Possible scenarios that might be causing what you're seeing: - iCloud saving for PhotoJourney was enabled, then later turned off. Re-enable it and the photos should restore. - You were signed into iCloud when you uploaded, then later signed out. Signing back in can bring everything back. - The iCloud account on the device was switched. Older photos will still be backed up under the original iCloud account. - iCloud saving for PhotoJourney was enabled, and then the app was deleted and reinstalled, or installed on a new device. As long as you’re signed into the same iCloud account, your journeys and photos should sync back down. - iCloud saving was not enabled when first using the app, and the app was then deleted and re-installed. This would delete the data along with the app as it was never backed up with iCloud. Please check: Settings β†’ Apple ID β†’ iCloud β†’ Saved to iCloud β†’ PhotoJourney (make sure it’s enabled), and confirm you’re signed into the same Apple ID you used originally. If you have a lot of photos to restore (especially after reinstalling or switching devices), open the app and leave it open for several minutes. You should see journeys and photos start to repopulate gradually as iCloud sync completes. If you don’t see anything right away, try briefly switching tabs or reopening the app to prompt a refresh. I saw you emailed about this issue and I replied right away to help investigate, but I didn’t hear anything back. If you email again (or use β€œReport a bug” in the app), I’ll pick it up immediately and will continue to assist you. If I can’t resolve it, you can request a refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Thanks, Mike (app developer)

Simple and To The Point

Exactly what I need for objective progress tracking. I paid up front to support the devs, avoid ads, and have a committed tool for the year. The ability to track body photos and face photos in separate journeys is really powerful when implementing lifestyle changes. Thank you for this app that delivers an easy experience that meets what it offers!! That's rare these days.

It’s awsome

Awsome

πŸ˜•

the app was super good at first till after 4 dayd of tracking it stopped letting me track it and said i needed pro. a notice before using it for a while wouldve been helpful as it was quite demotivating to atop tracking my progress.

I like that is app

Ok

App DELETED all my PHOTOS & JOURNEYS

I still have a 1-year active subscription that doesn’t expire until November 2025. I had 5 Journeys I had created. One day I open the app & ALL my photos had been deleted, which also meant all my 5 Journeys had been deleted. There was literally nothing left. Even worse, my absolute mistake in hindsight, the app gives you the option to save the photos you take in your camera roll on the phone or only in the app on your journeysβ€”idiot me chose β€œsave in app only”. I had daily things I tracked for months. Oh & btw, this is the second review I’m leaving bc when this occurred a few months back, nothing was done about this. I’m still paying for months that I don’t have access to & journeys I have to start all over, which really blows to lose all that progress tracking, gone. Would give negative stars if I could. DO NOT USE THIS APP.

Response from developer

Hi, firstly I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. We do everything we can to ensure photos are secure and backed up at all times. The app uses your iCloud account (if signed in on your device) in addition to storage within the app to store your photos and journeys. We purposely don't store photos or journeys on our servers to ensure complete privacy, and so that only you can access your photos. If you were logged into iCloud when initially creating journeys or adding photos and then later logged out of iCloud, switched the iCloud account on your device or disabled saving to iCloud for PhotoJourney specifically, it could make journeys / photos seem to disappear, but they should still be backed up in the original iCloud account. Please check your iCloud settings (Go to: Settings > iCloud > Saved to iCloud > PhotoJourney) to double-check PhotoJourney is enabled for iCloud backup there. So long as you were using iCloud (and sign back in with the same account on your device), journeys and photos should re-appear in the app when you re-enable this setting. When the app re-stores photos / journeys from iCloud, either after an app deletion or an iCloud settings change, it may take several minutes photos to appear in the app. If you've never deleted the app, or changed your iCloud settings, then it is extremely unusual for photos or journeys to randomly disappear from the app. I can imagine how frustrating this must be though so once again I apologize for this poor experience. If the steps above regarding iCloud configuration don't resolve your issue and you would like to request a refund you can go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com and do so there, as I would of course be happy for your subscription to be refunded. In terms of improving our app and ensuring this doesn't happen again for you or others, it would be helpful if you could get in touch via the 'Report a bug' option from settings within the app. This sends us an email that includes some information about your device and iOS version, so we can try and better pinpoint the root cause of the issue you experienced. Or if you'd like to get in touch straight away with any thoughts or questions, please reach out to me directly at photojourney@shipyardstudios.io - Thanks, Mike

Can’t use app without paying

Unfortunately it’s a pay only app. Not interested.

Great app, terrible cost

The app is really well made and helpful, but once you are committed and you hit the limits on the free version, you are asked to pay $8/week or $35/year before being able to take more pictures, despite the fact that I think it runs entirely on your phone (no backend costs).

Those prices are way too much. Which is a shame, because like I said, it's a well-made app. I would have definitely paid for the Pro version if the cost was more reasonable, but instead I will have to abandon it for now. If the price is lowered in the future I would love to come back to it.

Response from developer

Hi there, thanks so much for the kind words about PhotoJourney being well made, and for giving it a try! I understand your concern about pricing. To give some context, as an independent developer, the subscription helps support me directly as income and it is how I’m able to afford to keep improving the app. I also made a deliberate choice to not use backend servers. Instead photos stay on your device and are backed up in your own iCloud account, which means they’re completely private and only you can access them. That’s actually a big security advantage over many other apps that upload and store personal photos on their own systems. The subscription also allows me to dedicate time to building new features and providing dedicated support for PhotoJourney’s users β€” again, something many other apps don’t provide. I’d be interested to understand more about what you’d consider a fair price for the app, and if you have any other feedback on the app’s features, so feel free to reach out at photojourney@shipyardstudios.io if you’d like to discuss further. β€” Mike

Great app!

Works so well for me

Response from developer

Thanks so much for the review. If you have any further feedback or questions, please reach out anytime to photojourney@shipyardstudios.io – Mike.

Thank you!

I am thrilled to see the notes section! It allows me to make notes about my fitness photo and weigh ins. Thanks for being responsive to my earlier feedback! Love that you added the notes section!

Response from developer

Thanks so much for your review. Really glad to hear you're enjoying the new notes feature. If you have any further feedback or questions, please reach out anytime to photojourney@shipyardstudios.io – Mike.

There’s no way to add comments to your photos

I wanted somewhere where I can add notes like what makeup I’m wearing, cycle, food etc that impact appearance. There’s no way to keep track of notes like this.

Response from developer

Hey, thanks for reaching out, this is great feedback. I'm actually working on this feature as we speak, and hope to release a new version of the app that includes photo notes within the next couple of weeks. If you reach out to photojourney@shipyardstudios.io I'd be happy to let you know when this feature is available, and also so I can get your feedback on how it works. – Thanks, Mike

horrible. it deleted a week bc it wouldn’t let me pay

deleted a week of pictures because it wouldn’t let me purchase premium, which by the way is $35 which is straight up robbery. so now i’m going to another app with a wasted week

Response from developer

Hey, I'd be happy to help try and resolve the payment bug you were experiencing. Feel free to get in touch at photojourney@shipyardstudios.io with more details and I can dig into a fix for you asap. The in-app subscription required for the pro version supports the continued development of the app and reflects the value of the features PhotoJourney provides for tracking visual changes through time. There is a free trial available for the pro version, which you seem to have used, but the app doesn't delete any images if you cancel the free trial or stop subscribing. You can export photos from the app at any time in the photo screen, whether you are a subscriber or not. I'd be happy to help you locate this option if you are having trouble, so you can move them to another app. – Thanks, Mike

Great app

Great app just not 100% free. Not worth $$

Response from developer

Thanks so much for your review. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the app. Our pricing helps support continued development of the app, and supports myself as an independent developer. If you have any further feedback on how we could improve the app or the pricing, please reach out to photojourney@shipyardstudios.io. I'd be happy to discuss further – Mike.

Overpriced $30

you want me to pay$30 a year for software as a service for a camera app that doesn’t do anything or provide me any backend support or updates and you can’t even test the product without committing to purchase

Response from developer

Please note that this review is inaccurate. Our app does not require an upfront purchase to test the product β€” you can try it for free before subscribing, either through a free trial (with unlimited functionality) or without a free trial (with some limitations such as watermarks on exported videos). The app provides a number of features which help you track visual progress, such as before & after photo comparisons, time-lapse video generation tools, and custom-designed camera tools to help you take the perfect progress pics every time. If you are having trouble accessing these features then please reach out to hello@shipyardstudios.io – we'd be happy to help. Thanks - Mike.

Overpriced $30

A new spin on selfie a day…

Great app for tracking fitness and body shape progress. The grid and the β€˜ghost’ feature make it easy to to shoot a series of snaps that all align so you can see the changes in body shape. Easy to use and good export options.

Super easy

I’ve tried a couple of Timelapse apps and this is the easiest one to use. The ghost mode and time-delay is very handy.

Mirror image

Not good.. it shows mirror image which i am not comfortable with πŸ˜’

Response from developer

Hi there. You can flip the image in the camera to show an un-mirrored view using the β€˜flip’ button shown on the right-hand side of the screen (look for the button with the two triangles). If you want to flip images after capture, there’s also the option to flip images in the β€˜Watch’ screen when playing back your journey. So no matter what, you can always view images mirrored or un-mirrored. If you’re having trouble accessing this functionality or you think something isn’t working then please feel free to get in touch at photojourney@shipyardstudios.io. I’d be happy to help troubleshoot any issues. - Mike
