Terrible update

What was once the best workout app for programs and tracking is now terrible. Used the previous version for years then it was updated and totally changed. Keep thinking they’ll bring back the old app but hasn’t and probably won’t happen.

Mr smith

What happen to this app? Used to be the best for tracking workouts now it’s the worst. Looking for something else…

App down for nearly 2 weeks.

****Update 2026****
Wow this app has gotten worse. I signed up for a promised 7 day trial and was immediately billed. So I gave it a go, what can I say it’s an unusable fall from grace from the simple clean UI of the distant past. Avoid this app.

I missed the programs this app had, so after a long hiatus, I came back and… well deleted it promptly. Everything from the Font to the UI basic usability is a failure. They managed to make it near unusable from how the app was years ago.

Do not install, pass this app up. They have a record of failure that your reps could ever achieve.

Can Apple please audit this app and remove it from the store? It’s time bodybuilding.com shape up or lose the privilege of reach to users on iOS.

When this app works it’s great, but currently it has not been accessible for nearly 2 weeks. Fortunate for me my auto renewal would have started in a few days so I was able to cancel it. Please fix the app and I will come back, until then I advise anyone to look elsewhere for a fitness app.

EDIT: Keeping it the one star they earned. Took weeks for them to acknowledge the app went down, been using this app for years and it’s apparent the dev lost focus on the community. Switched to Boostcamp, BodyFit needs to vastly update this app and put redundancies in place to minimize downtime before I would consider subscribing again.

New app layout is frustrating

I used to have great success with this app until they updated it. The new layout is overly complicated and doesn’t sync well some of the programs. I used to love doing Jim Stoppani’s 6Weeks to Shred but the app makes it functionally impossible to navigate and the accelerated cardio times don’t work. It’s beyond frustrating fighting with an app when you’re just trying to get through your workout. I wish I could just use the old version. This feels like a waste of money and a complete disappointment.

Horrible App

This app is horrible. It’s difficult to use and it doesn’t work correctly. I have a subscription and it will not allow me to access workouts, even though I’ve paid for the workouts. Also, it doesn’t function properly when I can access it. bodybuilding.com has a lot of work to do with this app. It’s actually the worst I’ve ever used.

Why you removed workout set weight number entry ? There is only set number but cant put in the weight.

Getting

Love having the programs I’ve followed on BodyBuilding.com for years built in an app that tracks progress. I will say when they first launched it, it had a ton of issues but, it looks like the developers have made a lot of updates and fixes since launching and it is improving. So, if you have up on the app after the major update, you might want to give it another go. I do wish they made some of the supplemental material for the programs available. Back when these were on the website, they would include PDFs of things like diet and an overview of the entire program. Another big drawback is that you can’t do more than one workout program at once or it will kick you off the existing one. I also wish it would save the weight for your last set for the next for each workout, instead of zeroing out watch set.

Barely functional

Virtually every time I try to open the app, there is an issue with logging in, selecting a workout, or being able to select any option. The technical issues are embarrassing.

Can’t see my workout program

Can’t see my workout program. It just brings me to a subscription page each time, despite the fact that I’m already subscribed

Use to be great app, sucks now

This app use to be great until they turned it into a social media platform. It use to be all about the workouts but the app lost so many features with the new update. It burns through so much of my battery if I’m using it and listening to music I can’t go into the gym with less than 50%. The rest period timers don’t make any sense. Super sets in the app don’t save correctly. Saving my workout history is a hit or miss.

I still used the app after the big update hoping they would fix all the issues. They did fix some and I did suggest a few via instagram and saw them implemented. So that was nice. But no one asked for the social media platform and their server and interface does not look like it was built to sustain it. They should have made the apps separate, a workout app “BodyFit” and a social media app maybe called “BodyFitBook” or something. Melting both ideas together before establishing market demand sandbag the great aspects of the fitness app and created disdain for the social platform. Not recognizing your competition is Instagram and the quality of their platform already far exceeds what you released.

It seemed like all of your trainers hated the update as much as everyone else because all of their lives people were shouting how much we hated it and no one wanted to address the issue. The trainers ignored the cries of the people like a red headed step child.

Icing on the cake is I’ve still been paying the $9.99 monthly subscription and using the app on a regular basis. Then today I go to look at my workouts and it says I need to pay the subscription fee… again! I just got charged last week! Now I can’t do my workout. I can’t justify this anymore. I’m switching to Hevy.

Can’t restore purchases

Reached out to bodybuilding support multiple times with no response. Used the old app for years without issue. This update just sucks, can’t even use it.

The old app was better

This new one is not flexible with tracking workouts - if you’re in a program you cannot change exercises/substitute if needed bc of injury or availability of equipment. App is very glitchy as well have had a lot of problems with it. The old app occasionally had a glitch here and there but nothing major. Download this app if you want one that crashes/ glitches and makes tracking workouts frustrating.

WORST APP, WASTE OF $$$$

This app is probably the worst workout app I have ever used. I am disappointed at the fact that it glitches 50% of the time, it doesn’t save progress as it should, it crashes randomly, you spend at least 30 mins logging your 2 hour workouts for it to later NOT SAVE your progress. Waste of money, I want a refund.

Incorrect information recording

Will not renew. I noticed that the app constantly records the wrong data after I review it every time. I thought it was a fluke. Then I noticed after every workout it lists the wrong data as I write it before I enter it. Additionally, the tool does not show what I lifted the session before for every exercise. I have to open the prior workout and write it down. No quality assurance performed nor review of competing solutions for their features.

Lost over 5 years of workout data

Extremely disappointed that Bodybuilding.com discontinued BodySpace and erased over 5 years of my workout history. BodySpace wasn’t just an app—it was a training log containing years of workouts, progress, and personal records. Retiring a platform is one thing; wiping out user data is another. Losing that much history has completely destroyed my trust in the platform.

Buggy

There are so many issues with this app. I am constantly having to go back and click through workouts that I already completed earlier in the week to track completion. Bodybuilding.com and its apps haven’t been the same since they got greedy and stopped offering workouts for free and went the subscription route yet somehow the apps haven’t more issues and the workouts are more difficult to access.

Some plans with two workouts per day throw error

1- I’m currently doing one of Kris Gethin’s plans, to be specific 8 weeks hardcore the point is that when trying to enter the cardio workout it says Type Null it’s Not a subtype of type string in type cast.

2- I would like that when you bring it to the program, the completed days are already marked, but I don’t know if because of the previous error that doesn’t let me mark the cardio day is not completed or I don’t see the day marked as complete, I suspect that if

Never seen such a useless workout app.

This app used to be perfect for tracking workouts and setting up your own program. They updated it with all this needless junk, terrible formatting, annoying timers and 5 different buttons to press just to log a set, and ugly font. IT DOESN’T EVEN TELL YOU WHAT WEIGHT OR REPS YOU DID ON THAT EXERCISE IN YOUR LAST WORKOUT. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A WORKOUT TRACKING APP WITH ZERO TRACKING? It used to do this. Ruined a perfect thing for no reason.
