App Hasn’t Been Updated in Years

I bought this machine in 2017 and used it often. I assumed the app would be updated with new content at some point. This was not the case. The current version of the app is so old, it doesn’t even adapt to the size of my new phone screen. Absolutely disappointed.

Same workouts each time

The workouts don’t change. I’m bored after a month.

Could be 5 stars

It would be great if this app would sync between devices. Sometimes I have my iPad and sometimes I have my I phone. Please make this happen!! It would also be great if each user had to log in so that my wife could use my iPad if she wanted and it not go to my profile but her’s. Other than that the app works great. Very easy to follow along with the exercises.

Update needed

New update please iPhone no longer syncs w HVT. Iphone 11 pro, IOS 13.13

Update - turned on Bluetooth in app setting under general settings. Works like a charm. Great workouts!!!

Like it but it could be better

I really enjoy the app but its a little boring and old school. It would be nice if there were coaches to help motivate you during the workout and ability to link to Apple Watch. Overall, I think it needs an update.

Response from developer

Hey JChimy - stoked to hear you're enjoying the app and the machine altogether and we appreciate your feedback! We're always looking to improve so we will be sure to pass this along to our app development team! Keep up the great work. -Bowflex Team

Love the machine, but could be better

The resistance doesn’t change with the exercise in custom workouts. If the last resistance in custom 1 one was 16 and in custom 2 it’s a different exercise that needs to be 6, you have to run through a whole set and change it. It’s time consuming and ruins any metrics tracking. CAN YOU MAKE THE RESISTANCE MATCH THE EXERCISE INSTEAD OF JUST A SET PATTERN ?

Hey jcm4425 - more than happy to hear you're loving your machine so far! We appreciate your feedback as our customer's success is very important to us. Please feel free to send over an email to our app support team for any questions on those resistance levels. Their email is appsupport@nautilus.com. Thank you! -Bowflex Team

Need iPad app

Please develop a iPad app.

Need an update

Hey Bowflex,

When are you all gonna push an update with updated workouts. Obviously you can do more with the machine why not add more workouts so we can add them when we create our own workout. Last update version is over a year old. Dont just take our money and not keep us the users hungry for more. Also with the added exercises you need to give us the user the ability to add whatever workout we want to any block we choose to. For instance of i wanted to do chest press followed by flys and chest press again i should have the ability to customize my work out to my liking based off of what body parts “I” want to work out!!

IPad Compatibility

The Bowflex is awesome product, but we need the app compatible with Ipads

Response from developer

Hey there - happy to hear you're enjoying your HVT and the HVT app is available for Apple devices like the iPad! If you're having trouble with that, please feel free to send an email over to our app support team. Their email is appsupport@nautilus.com. We look forward to it and keep up the great work! -Bowflex Team

Needs accurate stop AND start times

When any of the Bowflex apps record a workout, they record the length of time you worked out and the time you finished the workout. Because they do not record a START time, it feeds into Apple Health with the only time they record and the minutes. So...when I finish an 18 minute sprint at 11:24, Apple picks the only time as the start time. Bowflex needs to record START time, not just finished time and length.

Once my workouts are synced, it thinks I worked out twice as long. I’ve had to stop syncing the Bowflex data and use a different app.

Thank you for being a customer and for your review atomicleda! We're sorry to hear about any trouble getting the different data to align and match up! Please fire up the HVT app, navigate to the HVT app settings, and then use the "Send us an email" option. That will go directly to our App Team and they reply within 1-2 business days. After doing so, and in the meantime, we might also check within Apple Health to see if there is any option to toggle what certain data you've imported represents. Wish you all the best! - Bowflex Team

Need iPad compatible app

The HVT is great! However the app is made for the iPhone. When will the app be iPad native? Other companies have figured this out years ago. Bowflex it is 2019, get your act together.

Response from developer

Hello oakleytiger, thank you very much for being a customer and for your feedback! Regarding additional iOS support, we have not heard anything specific in that regard here, but we're happy to get you any information we can! With that in mind, I'd recommend reaching out to App Team directly. To do so, launch the HVT app, navigate to the Settings, and then use the "Send us an email" option. That goes directly to our App Team and they reply within 1-2 business days. Thanks for your business and good luck on your fitness journey! - Bowflex Team

Great product but read before you buy

The HVT is an awesome product. Before you buy , realize you don’t need to upgrade to the model with the tablet. You cannot switch between uses so only one person can use the tablet. This is kind of stupid as you can just use your own tablet and not spend money on a bother. However bow flex does not tell you this when you buy. They know about and respond to every one of these negative comments for the past few years stating they will pass it on to the developer but nothing changes. Get the product but use your own device.

Response from developer

Hello Trodeezy, we're sorry for any confusion! We're always happy to answer questions about the HVT and HVT+ options when asked and we're always happy to provide information regarding the HVT app and HVT+ tablet bundle! Most of our apps are specifically designed with a 1 user / 1 app setup in mind. I definitely wouldn't give my own phone away to someone else so they could use it to do their workouts for example. That's why the HVT app is free and available for anyone. If you have more than one user, each user can install a free copy of the app on their own device and use it themselves. The tablet bundled with the HVT+ option is a Samsung tablet. It is not unique to us; however, that tablet was specifically chosen as it allows you to set up multiple user profiles on the tablet itself. By switching between tablet user profiles, each person can have their own separate instance of the app all on the same tablet and share a single device. I know you're saying that we don't help, but we're more than happy to do so. We would love the opportunity to help you set up multiple users on the same tablet so if you would like some assistance with this, please give us a call at 800-605-3369, Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 5 PM Pacific so we can ensure you have correct information and help you move forward with things. Have a great rest of your week! - Bowflex Team

Crashing since ios12

Crashes too often since iOS 12 update on iPad. Any chance this will be fixed?

Response from developer

Hello oldsnwbrdr, sorry to hear about the crashing! I have not heard of other instances of this yet, but we're happy to help! If you can, launch the app, navigate to the Settings, and use the "Send us an email" option. If the app is not functioning well enough for this, though, you can also email that information to AppSupport@Nautilus.com. The option within the app includes information on your current version which can be very helpful though. When emailing, I'd recommend including a brief description of the issue, information on your specific device and iOS version, and any observations you might have made such as it always crashing when attempting to do do a specific thing for example. Our App Team will reply back to you directly within 1-2 business days and we're glad to be of assistance. Wish you all the best and have a great 2019! - Clayton, Bowflex Team

The app lacks adaptability to user preferences.

I’ve had my HVT for about a year and a half, and I like it, but I see certain problems with it that are more pronounced because of how the app works. The exercises are limited. There are not enough purely lower body exercises. This could have been overcome by selling the machine with ankle cuffs so that you can do abduction, abduction, and donkey kick open parentheses for glutes) exercises. I told Bowflex this quite some months ago and I don’t see changes. Something that I wanted to do to kick my metabolism back into gear is to work out on it for 10 minutes out of every hour that I’m awake. Unfortunately, the app is locked firmly into either doing their set workouts, or creating your own based on one of their set workouts. You can’t even specify a time limit and then base it on one of their set workouts. This will make more sense if you actually own the machine. If I’m going to create a sprint workout, I want to be able to say “and I want it to be 10 minutes long.” In essence, this app is too rigid. There’s no way to download new exercises so that the metrics of what you’re doing and be measured, there is no way to designate the time beyond how long the workouts they created, and they’re only three of them, take. That’s a ridiculous limitation for a machine the cost almost $2000. Because of the limitation, the machine starts to remind me of something that One my butt from a late night infomercial because it doesn’t do much more. It’s a fatal flaw. I don’t like thinking that I might’ve made a mistake on when I chose to buy when I invested this much money.

Love the machine. Hate the app.

Every time I workout it logs the workout into any other health apps (like my Apple Watch) starting at the end time. This is a problem with the M5 app as well. If I workout on the HVT for 22 minutes and then immediately go for a 20 minute run using any other app they occur at the “same time”. This leads to even more inaccurate health data.

Response from developer

Hey Alkat0, we're sorry to hear about any trouble and happy to help! Someone just mentioned a very similar issue with the SelectTech app so I'm not certain what suddenly changed, but I'll make sure and let our App Team know that it also appears to be affecting the HVT and Max Trainer apps. With that in mind, I would recommend doubling-up on this and also adding your specific product info/setup in to the mix. To do so and when you have a chance, please feel free to launch the app, navigate to the Settings, and then use the "Send us an email" option. That will go directly to our App Team and things like this are tracked so we can implement fixes in future updates. Sorry again for those workouts showing up as starting at the end time of the exercising, but just in general, I wish you all the best and happy holidays! - Clayton, Bowflex Team

Only one user per app

The machine allows for 4 users but will only track data through the app for 1. So in order to save data for each user, each person has to use their own device. So glad I didn’t buy the upgraded machine that came with a tablet.

Response from developer

Hello Bmyersjr, the Samsung tablet bundled with our HVT+ option supports multiple user profiles on the tablet itself. You can create a user profile for each user and, by toggling between the profiles on the tablet, each person would have their own separate instance of the HVT app on the same device. In short, the tablet that comes with the HVT+ was specifically chosen as it allows multiple users to use the same device with their HVT. Should you be unsure of anything else, though, please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can make sure you have and spread correct information. Thanks for being a customer and have a great week! - Clayton, Bowflex Team

Previous owners information

Purchased this machine used and once I connected to Bluetooth all the previous owners information and workouts got loaded into my app. Is there a way to start new?

Response from developer

Hey Monti blonde, uninstall the app and then edit the user profiles on the HVT using page 41 of the manual below. https://download.nautilus.com/supportdocs/AM_OM/Bowflex/BFX.HVT.AM.OM.WARR.EN.pdf Once you've erased the workouts from the User Profiles, re-download the app and try syncing again. If you still get old workout data, give us a call at 800-605-3369 for more help! - Clayton, Bowflex Team

Bluetooth connectivity

Love the app but would like to be able to do the routines while traveling (in a Gym with cable machines) and not having blue tooth connectivity.

Response from developer

Hey Jean, thank you very much for the feedback! I went ahead and forwarded your suggestion to see if we can at least get something like the ability to auto-play through an entire routine even without the HVT itself. I'd like to think something like this wouldn't be too involved to add-in, but the only real thing I can think of in the meantime is (unfortunately) lugging the HVT training guide/booklet around with you. It's not as convenient as the app, but it definitely doesn't require Bluetooth! Jokes aside, thanks for the review, stay tuned for future updates to the app, and have a great weekend! - Clayton, Bowflex Team

Garbage update

Ever since the most recent update it shuts down the music in my headphones every time I start the workout. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!

Videos don’t load

The learn about videos do not load for me. I have tried different connections on different days. Please fix them or send us urls where we can view these videos.

Response from developer

Hello - That is an excellent suggestion! I have submitted a request to get those URLs for you and to have those videos posted on our site so you don't have to use the app to see the exercises. I'll come back and let you know when I have the requested information. - Joanne, Bowflex Team
