About
Breathe the name.
In Hebrew the name of God is written with four letters — YHWH — and carried no written vowels. One long-held teaching hears in it the shape of breath itself: YAH drawn in, WEH let out. The first thing any of us does is breathe in. The last is to breathe out. In between, the tradition goes, we are speaking the name without ever meaning to.
Breath Yahweh gives that breath a rhythm.
FOUR RHYTHMS
• Yah Weh — four in, six out. The breath prayer at its simplest.
• Box — four equal sides. Steady and easy to hold onto.
• Coherent — five and five, six breaths a minute, no holds.
• Four Seven Eight — a long hold and a longer release.
• Or set your own, second by second.
FOLLOW THE CIRCLE, NOT THE CLOCK
The circle swells as you breathe in and settles as you breathe out. YAH glows warm on the way in, WEH cools on the way out, and the holds go quiet. A ring marks every turn of the rhythm and a countdown sits under the word, so you always know where you are.
A CHIME AT EACH TURN
A soft bell marks the moment the breath changes, so you can close your eyes and stop watching the screen. Turn it off if you'd rather sit in silence.
ONE TO TEN MINUTES, OR OPEN-ENDED
Pick a length and the app counts you down. Or leave it open and breathe until you're done.
NOTHING TO SIGN UP FOR
No account. No ads. No analytics. Breath Yahweh makes no network requests at all — the fonts and the chimes are inside the app. Four preferences are saved on your device, and that's the whole of it.
Breath Yahweh is a timer for rest and attention. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Breathe only as deeply as is comfortable, and stop if you feel light-headed.
